The WhaleReport Alert System will broadcast the presence of whales to shipmasters via SMS text message. The message will contain a link to a map showing the reported location of the whales, their direction of travel, and other pertinent information. Whale presence information will be obtained from real-time observations, sent in by trusted observers using the B.C. Cetacean Sightings Network’s existing WhaleReport app.
