In reply to <a href="https://wormfarmguru.com/worm-bin-bedding/#comment-232">Daniel Powney</a>.

If you don't want to mess with the tea making process, you can put cardboard in the bottom turning strips to soak up the juice and lay them just under the surface around your plants it's like slow release fertilizer and your worms won't drown. I know this is an old post but if anybody's reading this, it really works. I have my worms in the tote without holes in the bottom but it has cardboard in the bottom and every once in a while I traded that out. I layer other cardboard with food scraps and that keeps them from going to the bottom and eating that cardboard.

Today is my first day using the urban word bag. It appears to be very well constructed easy to assemble with very good instructions.. in a couple weeks I’ll add to this review after I see how my 7 to 800 worms are doing.Don

Hi. Give your bin a good soaking with water. Ants hate that. Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon. You can place the legs of your bin in cups of water too. Cheers.

I didnt think citrus is good for the worm farm.
Surely more cardboard especially the corrugated cardboard is good.
Plus dolomite lime.
Pot worms took over mine while i was too unwell to look after it properly - didnt help they came in the worms i was sold. Only ever seen one egg!
So its all gone now and starting again.

I played the worm game and was told it was over because I had pineapple in my bin which can kill worms.
This is NOT true. It's one of the many false facts about foods to avoid. I've been raising 6 kinds of worms for 35 years (nearly 36) and pineapple IS PERFECTLY FINE for worms. I feed it regularly. Yes, it is acidic and can result in in potworms (harmless).
The worms love it and there's no need to avoid it.

In reply to <a href="https://wormfarmguru.com/worm-farm-problems/#comment-235">Daniel Powney</a>.

Worms will not eat “fresh” food scraps. They will wait until microbes begin to cover the scraps and then eat the broken down remains.
I use a food processor to grind up the fresh scraps and speed the microbial action.
If the worms are not eating something then remove it.

I love my worm farm! The liquid they produce is amazing on my plants which virtually triple in size over a few week. The worms do not like anything acidic! I try to keep the food I give them chopped up a little I would recommend a worm farm to anyone who loves their plants either flowers or vegetables.
In South Australia the council contributes the base.
