I Am Not Afraid
I had this interview yesterday in which I did not get irritated about their assumptions about my ignorance. But, I did discover that I need to think and prepare before going to interviews from now on. Also, I re-discovered that I already know all the shit I need to know for to take this class; the only thing I lacking is lab experience, so they can just give me a few tasks and then hand me the keys to the lab for the day and I shall catch myself up properly.
It was weird when Paula asked "You said you know these things [dna, transcription, translation, mitosis, meiosis, organelle functions]. How did you learn them?" because I had a horrible time trying to explain. Mostly I told them about my textbooks and spent a few moments controlling my urge to be disgusted with their (distrust?) of my account of my knowledge and capabilities.
It sums up as something along the lines of: they won't stop me. I got the override and am now on the waitlist (seventh, thank you, not 25th). They sounded confident that I would get into the class with that position. I also registered for a class about pharmaceutical bullshit that will touch social, political, money aspects. I like Evergreen's programs a lot better than just taking specified classes to meet pointless requirements. I don't have to take an expository writing class, but I will write enough to make that fact irrelevant.
