I FINALLY sent my resume to this company I've been drooling over for so long, and I got an automated response that made me feel unexpectedly warm and fuzzy inside. Usually automated responses are boring/patronizing/cold/rude, but this one seemed, how shall I say this -- honest? In some way they managed to make 5 sentences convey the fact (and make it ring true!) that they will look at my resume, and they will keep it on file "if I do not fit the current job openings."
Also, I had some coffee today, so I got to spend several hours actually feeling awake (for the first time in a couple weeks).
Oh, and since I'm staying up way to late I may as well do something useful: I got myself an IERE e-mail account and am planning to use my manipulating skills to make people give me money. Or, well, I guess things could also be useful. We'll see. Grants... I get to learn how to write grant applications.
