Am I Mistaken?
Yeah, I'm going to have to do some aggression training on Anna.
I doubt I can convey how intensely upsetting she has been.
I ran home and what does Anna do? Territorial aggression with Willy. Also, Anna seems to think that Matcha will fight with her like some kind of tag-team angry dominance duo. Unfortunately, Matcha is dominant and Anna takes cues from her. Matcha doesn't want to fight Willy, she wants to race and chase and tumble, but Anna sees this and thinks that she can keep being aggressive right up to Willy and well into a tumble. Willy out-weighs her, has a bigger mouth, bigger teeth, everything he needs to whup her except the will, so he's just defensive, but this can still lead to injuries because the defensive growling and barking just makes Anna more aggressive and less fearful. It's fucking stressful.
I have to stop being angry at her about it, though. She doesn't know better. I need to find some treats and run through some basic training with her. If I can't do this I think I'm going to have to find her a different place to live because I don't think I can deal with a dog that is unable to play nice with anyone except Matcha (and even then they get into scuffles). I'm not entirely sure that my amateur dog training skills will be up to the task of behavior modification on a 3-year-old, half german shepherd, aggressive-territorial dog. However, I will try. I will also resist the temptation to lock her in a closet (what closet?) until I feel better.
It's good she's finally got a grasp on the idea that I'm very very very pissed at her and she should give me a certain amount of personal space.
