Tim
I was an electrical contractor and operated my own company for about a decade. After deciding to move on from that, I joined Windemuller in 2014 as a service electrician. I gradually started getting into more specialty work – calibrations and testing – and then into automation. I became an automation technician and did that for five years, and really enjoyed it.
In late 2022, there was an opening for a field operations & safety manager, and those opportunities don’t come along very often. I decided to pursue it and am so glad I did. I was in the position for about a year when Windemuller invested in new software programs for tracking operations and for employee development.
The bulk of my work to date has been on the employee side, where we now have a platform for tracking reviews, training, and development company-wide – a huge update from the former Excel spreadsheets! I enjoy getting to be a small part of someone’s growth and development, helping to guide them in their careers. It’s fulfilling work.
As an employer, Windemuller is very unique. There are a lot of companies that micromanage: here’s the job, and here’s how to do it. By contrast, the leadership here is very trusting, allowing me to take this role and make it mine. It allows your personality to be infused in the work you do, which makes it much more enjoyable. For my personality, this is the best fit.
I also think what makes Windemuller stand apart is the company culture. Our current President, Steve Alles, took over just before I began my new role. His leadership and the way he’s strengthening our culture is great. He’s continuing to change the company for the better.
