Meh.
The problem with being awake, and feeling profound, at 7:30am on a Sunday?  ...is that I have to head to work, and thus don't have time to write down the thoughts, or explore where they lead.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Mine... is off to a start. Doing a fast round of basic house-cleaning, because my father is on his way down. A pleasant surprise. Noy goona stress too hard about the cleaning... but we do need to be able to sit & eat and stuff. And I have been very much "living like a batchelor".

So... cleaning, and adjusting plans. I can live with this.

I don't want to be awake.

Because being awake is so much shittier than not being awake.

Ferquently, in recent times (_more frequently_ than in the past decade or two, for reference) I find myself wondering "what is the point of my existance".

Another Trip Around The Sun

Another trip around the sun.

Can't say much about this one, really, without wandering into excessive negativity. Buncha deaths. Buncha non-successes. Buncha bad things happening to friends. Buncha stress.

Not as good, by far, as the preceeding trip around the day star.

I am hoping the next one is much better.

Many thanks, to all, for the birthday good wishes.

Quiet and Introspective (in my own way) (Or, it's been a bumpy week, to say the very least.)
In my ramblings and explorations through life, spirituality, and literature, I have come across the following notion a fair number of times:

No one is truly dead as long as one person who knew them in life still remembers them as they were.

Most folks reading this will know from where the sentiment springs.

Sheldon the Just touched many lives. Of the ones I have the most familiarity with, it seems most he touched by teaching dance. Often, in doing so, he was introducing someone completely new to the SCA. Of course, there was also archery, and brewing, and exchequer-related activities. In all things, he was more than willing to share knowledge, or advice, or offer constructive criticism. And all the things he did, he did with honor, generosity, quiet humor and courtesy.

He will be sorely missed.

Today, I joined a club I never wanted to be a part of.
I have texts stored in my phone from from someone who is no longer with us.

I found out as I was arriving home this evening. Someone most of you won't know. Someone I didn't even know that well, really. We were both part of a bridal party earlier this year... And kinda bonded during slower parts of the reception. Well enough to learn a fair bit about each other. Well enough that I made a point of connecting with her on facebook after we were two of the last people to leave the parking lot.
And we've been trading regular 'likes', comments, and 'pokes' ever since. Lots of pokes.

And texts, from time to time.

Was definitely looking forward to getting to know her better, at some point.

Yeah..... Not anymore, I guess.

For only having met her two days, she left a significant imprint on my life. Sadly, I'm only now realizing just how significant.

Rest in Peace, Nadine. You will be missed.

Signal Boosting for SCAdians
For the Scadians who read my journal-

There is a discussion being started regarding stalking, abusive behavior, and the like. Looking at how it impacts the Society, what can be done, and how best to deal with it when it occurs at an event, or within a local group.

I am boosting the signal, as the discussion really should have a wider audience & more participants.

The original post can be found here, on hfcougar's journal.

Please feel free to visit, and jump into the discussion.

Oh, yes, and, in case you hadn't heard... The overnight low tonight is supposed to be something like 22 degrees.

If you got any seedlings outside, better bring 'em in!

FYI
Owing to a shattered laptop screen, my online presence is going to be greatly curtailed for a while.

So, in the event that you need to know something, or think I should know something, it might be best to use the phone, to be sure.
