hinshack owns me!
So,
hinshack demanded a tutorial for this icon:

And since I'm slowly but surely becoming Helena's bitch, I do as she says.
Now, since I don't have the PSD of the actual icon, I'm gonna try to recreate it step-by-step on Photoshop CS and achieve a similar result. And I can't do tutorials, 'cause it seems like the people I'm talking to are 5 and wear capes to school.
We start with, yes, a base! This has already been sharpened.

What I always do, doesn't matter how great the light of the image is, is go to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast. Brightness: 20, contrast: 10. And if the image is too dark, then I go to Edit>Fade Brightness/Contrast, and on Mode I set Screen.
Now it looks like this:

Next, a new layer with the color #E2D0AA and set on Multiply.

Another layer, with this gradient:

Set on Screen, opacity 50%.
And yet another layer, only now this gradient:

Set on Soft Light, opacity 30%.
Now we have this:

Nice, huh?
Okay, now, I seriously have no idea how to explain this, but I'll try anyway.
Set the foreground color to #FFF0DA, and then, on the default Gradients, select Foreground to Transparent, and it should look like this:

Hmm. See where it says Radial gradient?

Good, you'll press that. On a new layer, you're gonna set the mode to Screen and then you'll mess with the opacity as you wish. The size and position are also your choice. My position was right on her face, opacity 40%. Like this:

Next, you'll use a stock picture, 'cause they're real fun. I chose:

Set on Lighten.

Now you do whatever you want to! I decided to only show he face and her hair, so I selected around and filled with a random pastel color.

Then borders, text to fill space, and voilà!

I did this 'cause Helena owns me. I can't even see anyone finding this slightly useful, though.
