So I'm sick:( Just a chest cold, which means I've been coughing and feeling generally icky for the past two days, and on top of it all the 15 page paper I thought was due next week is due monday. The last thing I feel like doing is research right now, so sadly its gonna wait until tomorrow and I'll be in a big stress frenzy rush to get it done on Sunday, but too bad.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Just a very quick entry, because I'm helping prep the outside and burning a hallows eve mix... I'm a dork, live with it:) My stepdad carved the pumpkin earlier... I decided I wanted it in the shape of the Montreal Canadians Logo (NHL team), and it turned out pretty good. Hope everyone has a great night, I'll be handing out candy and drinking spiked coffee... cause its seriously windy/cold here!

Hey flist! So I'm actually in a good mood today, hence the posting, since I avoid livejournal when I feel 'meh' 'cause then my posts get all whiny. Woke up at 10:30am today which means I don't feel like I overslept, and once again coffee rules my world.

♠ I went and saw Whip it! on monday and it was pretty awesome. And this is coming from someone who didn't like Ellen Page or Juno, which I thought would effectively end our movie watching relationship. But she was awesome and understated, and even though there were some cliches it was just a fun movie, good way to spend an afternoon. It also helps that I was OBSESSED with a reality show about roller derby, which was on a couple of years ago, so I knew a bit about the game.

♠ I don't feel like doing my online course work today, which probably means I won't:( Icon making it is.

♠ I think I'm finally finished my Eric/Sookie mix. Now I want to make wallpapers and do picspams... gah! I hate that I feel most creative when I have a ton of other stuff to do.

♠ I'm baking an apple crisp for thanksgiving, my baking repetoire is generally just cookies but I'm branching out.

Probably be back with a meme or something later. I don't know if I have any Canadians on my flist, but if I do Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

So I had a small issue actually posting 7 days in a row, but I'm still gonna finish the meme.

Pajiba: Scathing Reviews. Bitchy People. Everyone wants a little sarcasm and outright disdain, in their movie reviews right? I love this site, take the most scathing tv/book/movie review you've ever read and times it by 100 and you get about 70% of the sites content. Its just fun to read.

Go Fug Yourself See above but switch out movie reviews for fashion commentary. The fug girls find the worst of the worst and they aren't always nice about it.

+ I miss True Blood. I've now iconned pretty much all I can of the two seasons, so now I'm left feeling 'meh' about 80% of television and without anything to icon:( Although I have a new girl!crush on Pam, 'cause she's too awesome to be left on the back burner for another season, if we can have that much Tara, we can have more Pam.

+ Glee makes me happy, if for nothing else than I'm not really invested in the characters, so they can't do a storyline that would make me pissed or stop watching. Its fun, frothy and musicalicious, and thats enough.

+ School sucks. Plato sucks.

True Blood Finale, what else?

I was going to wait to post my thoughts on last nights season finale of True Blood, but screw it. Here they are and don't expect the warm and fuzzies, there are spoilers for the books, and some speculation about the next season. If you are a Bill fan, avoid this, so we can still be friends.

So basically I was underwhelmed by the ep. I didn't necessarily mind how they finished Marianne off, even though that whole arc bored me to tears.

+ Jason was typically stupid and it didn't annoy me (the smell of nailpolish in the morning) and Andy was actually amusing (it's diet coke, with lime!)

+ One Eric scene was not enough, especially if you're gonna shove Bill down our throats for the majority of the ep. Although he was cute playing Yatzee, but the whole attempt at I guess sexuality between him and the queen? No, just no. I'm sorry I didn't find it sexy, it just kinda weirded me out.

+ Sookie was back to being annoying and relying on everyone else to save her, every time she starts to get a bit of backbone they make her scream for Bill's help. Maybe its just me but a lot of the books seem to be about undoing her belief that she's just a helpless barmaid.

+ Jessica... yeah I got nowhere to go with that one.

+ Bill *sigh* I don't think Stephen Moyer is a great actor and he seems mostly uncomfortable and wooden in his scenes, so he's never amazed me, even before I fell in love with Eric as a character. So him being the saviour and all that shit was just too much. I don't really understand Alan Ball's love for him, yes he's a southern gentleman, and I guess more of a 'good guy' than Eric, but he's boring and one dimensional. And beyond this point his role in the books begins to shrink and he becomes the bad guy in Sookie's life, so what now? Is Ball just gonna forget all of that to save Bill/Sookie? Or worse is he going to make Eric take some of Bills storyline and turn him into the bad guy? Neither option makes me all that happy.

+ Don't even get me started on the proposal scene. I have no words for the stupidity of that.

+ I am a believer that the improved writing/storyline this season led to better ratings, and maybe wrongIy I think Eric and Eric/Sookie had something to do with that too.

Some speculation for next season, with book spoilers and an alan Ball quote:

First of all this: Speaking of which, are you surprised at how passionate the Sookie/Eric fans are?
BALL: Yes. I try not to get involved in that because it just sort of — it’s too confusing. I don’t want it to influence what the show is. Personally, I’m like, yes, Eric’s hot, but beyond that he’s dangerous, and I don’t know if he’d love anybody besides himself. What’s the appeal there? The bad boy? The danger?

- Seriously? Why do people like Eric? Maybe because he has more depth than the shallow end of a pond (Bill). Maybe because in terms of 'evil' vamps I've watched his not nearly the worst. Angelus was evil, Eric is enterprising. But surprisingly Ball having read the books and knowing Bill is using Sookie for the Queen and the eventual scene in the car trunk, thinks he's not evil at all. Its great to be selective when making a TV show based on books, deviating and all that, but maybe there is a reason Eric and Sookie are constantly revolving around each other and are bonded, and not her and Bill. I just have no idea where this Bill character he created is coming from, 'cause he wasn't in the books I read. Also ASkars brings something to Eric that wasn't there in the books, he really is the best actor on this show, and I think he actually makes Anna Paquin better, less annoying, and I like her. I dunno I think its hard because he obviously took the Bill/Sookie ship differently in the book and he wants to romanticize them or something, which sucks 'cause some of the best scenes are between Eric/Sookie, they seem to get each other's humour, and we lose a lot of that while Ball worships to the alter of bland and blander.

Some things I'm looking forward to next season (based on the 3rd book):

+ Alcide! I have to say I really liked him (I'm only done the 3rd book, so that may change)
+ Seeing Club Dead
+ Eric taking care of Sookie (if we're lucky)
+ Maybe having the amnesia storyline moved up?

Not looking forward to:

+Eric possibly being the one who kidnapped Bill, 'cause really Ball that would stupid. I am not gonna like Bill no matter how much he's tortured or by who, actually bring the silver on.
+ Queen Sophie Ann, she kinda goes either way for me, her scenes with Bill were hilariously bad and over the top, but her sticking around can't be good. We'll see.

So yeah there we go. I have to say as many complaints as I have I enjoyed the season, (I'm gonna do a good/bad recap this weekend), I had written this show off halfway through the first season, but now I don't know what I'll do without it:(

So I'm going on a self-imposed hiatus. I have a hell week of catchup/studying and packing coming up and Christmas gifts I have to make and send, so I'm just not going to have much time for LJ. Or rather I have to force myself away from it to get stuff done! I'll prob still check my flist once and a while and hopefully comment on your entries, but until at least Dec. 9th, I'll be scarce.

Christmas Wish List

So I've been avoiding school work and its now coming back to bite me in the ass, the next few weeks are going to be hell, playing a mix of catch up and prep for exams, while getting ready to move. Just yuck. And I need to get the family albums finished, because thats my Christmas gift for my aunts and uncles, because I'm broke and I thought I would have the time to sift through hundreds of photos...

But the good news is once I get through this crappy month, I'll get to see my two best friends again and hang out and be a (I can't see teenager, because I'll be 20), but I'll have fun.

Oh I found my Gossip Girl books, which I got like four Christmas's ago and ended up unread in a box in the basement. So I was all excited to read them and compare them to the show and what not. I don't think it was worth the pain. I'm sorry but the writing was so awful, its like someone typed up an outline of a story and got it made into a book, like its unbelievably weak in all departments, and once again the only character I like is Blair. Oh an Book Nate is the least likable character in the world.

I know its a bit early but I don't know when I'll have a chance to do it so... in the spirit of Christmas, I did that meme thingy (stolen from blueymcphluey) and I hope you all do it to so I can make some wishes come true. I feel like a Disney character saying that. lol. I have some free time in mid-december, which will be for finishing requests and hopefully Christmas wish lists.

Christmas Wish List Meme

Step One:
- Make an LJ post, either public or locked (although public give people who aren't on your flist a chance to give you presents :D). The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. These wishes can be anything, from simple and fandom-related (a fic written about your favorite pairing), to medium (a DVD you want), to really extravagant (a brand new car). Just make sure these are wishes for things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things, like a DVD or CD, make sure you include some sort of contact information in your post. It can be your address or your email address, as long as Santa (or one of his elves) can somehow get in touch with you. ;)
- Make sure you post a version of these guidelines in your LJ, because it's important that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two:
- Skim through your friend's list (or the brand new friends of friend's list, or random journals) to see who has posted their list. Now is the most important part: if you find a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so. Make that person's wish come true! Sometimes your trash is another person's treasure! If you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or you even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - give it to someone who wants it!

Step Three:
- Post this in your LJ any time after November 1st, then repost it two weeks before Christmas (a.k.a. December 11th)

Step Four:
- You don't need to spend money on these wishes to make them come true. Only spend money if you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf. It's to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not, it's all up to you. :)
- There are no rules for this project, nor are there any guarantees or strings attached. Just wish! Your wish might come true! And give if you can. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday a special one. :)

1. To get to know my flist better! This is mostly my fault because I suck at commenting, which I promise to be better at, when I'm less busy. But if you guys have a minute it would be great if you filled This out, so I can get to know you:)

6. Book suggestions! I read a lot and I'm still on a YA fiction kick, I've read Bluebloods, (the new book comes out right before my BDAY!) everything by Sarah Dessen and Twilight and all that, so I would love some recommendations on what to read next.

7. Some new wallpapers of people like Blair (GG), Brooke (OTH), Cordelia (Angel) etc. My screen size is 1280x768, if anyone is interested.

8. Interest icons, I would really love some new icons, anything from my interests would be amazing.

9. I'm always looking for links to new textures/gradients/brushes etc.

10. For everyone to link me to their lists, so that I can hopefully grant some wishes! And for everyone to have an amazing Christmas:)

Ugh, I feel like crap! I had to hand in a mini-essay for one of my courses and I'm convinced I didn't cite enough sources, even though I didn't cut and paste anything, I just always have this feeling the TA is gonna fail me for plagiarism, which I would never do. But I read stuff and remember it and put it in my own words, like you're supposed to, but should I cite every second word???

/ stress I hate you.

+I'm slightly ashamed, because despite my better judgement I started watching Smallville this season. I can't help liking Tess and being more interested in the farmless, Lanaless of this season. I do miss Lex.
+ Anyone else find OTH boring this week? I don't even feel like writing up a proper review.
+ I have to say I'm addicted to the UK Dragons Den, some moments are so cringeworthy, but sooo good.
+I know I'm still being a shitty lj friend, I'm just stressed about doing well in my online courses, and if I do well in midterms my mom is gonna buy me a new cell, since she cancelled the last one. I know which one I want, it has the pull out keyboard, and its just shiny and perfect.
+ has anyone else seen John Barrymore's music video? I love him, but I can't help laughing at it. You can see out on Perez

This week in TV and Life

So I haven't made a post in a while and I'm still sucking at commenting, but really I loooovee my flist, and I am trying to at least read your posts. I've just got a ton of reading, which I keep avoiding because I feel like crap, I've just been exhausted all week, so absolutely nothing is getting done. Other than TV watching.

- Okay I know a lot of people didn't like this ep, because it strayed from the story, but I loooveeddd it! Evil!Serena, with the slow motion walking and head cocking, at a stunned Dan, was perfect!! It made Serena interested and it shut judgemental Dan's mouth. Plus I don't think it was too far off base for Serena's character, she may have been less mean and more self-destructive before, but its always been about her, Blair shadows her and picks up the pieces, so this definitely wasn't a surprising development. Although I don't like Blair being a shadow... she's way more fluent in bitch.
- I liked Vanessa, until she got in the way, you have to trust that Blair is the best manipulator out there.
- Nate.... Jenny.... yeah they didn't have much in this ep.
- Chuck's plan is a little confusing, I know its meant to de-throne B and isolate her until she needs his help, but it basically means he has to destroy Serena at some point to re-instate Queen B.
- So Catherine and The lord were just a complete waste of time.

- So I never posted about the last ep, which was extremely sad, but I didn't cry. I think I'd prepared so much to bawl my eyes out that I didn't. Its not that I didn't like it or love Q, I guess I just cried enough during the previews.
- So I have a little complaint... why take Brooke to this 'dark' place for like 3 eps, thats not self-destruction. I wish they would commit to her story line one way or another, and not be afraid to take her to that dark place, because Sophia can handle it, and they just seem to be wasting her talent.
- I love Q's mom, she was on A Different World!
- So I really don't care about the Skills/Deb relationship, since I find Deb tolerable at best.
- Jamie stole the show! "I let you kiss my mom".
- Retiring Q's jersey was sweet, as was the playing with only 4 players although I doubt they would let them do that... but hey its not about reality.
- Still hate Victoria, but I doubt without Brooke's image she can run the company.
- Peyton he's probably your dad, so can we move on??
- Haley is actually interesting, she was definitely hit the hardest by Q's death, and she plays it well.
- Carrie, put down the bunny and step the fuck off.

- Annie....
- Silver I love. Dixon I love. Together, not so much. But She's dating the guy who plays Ethan in real life, which is enough for me.
- Adriana, is an evil witch, but she's sooo off her rocker its cool.
- Rob Estes plays clueless well.
- I actually like Naomi and her mom. They were such uber bitches in the 1st ep, that its nice to see them a little softer.
- It wasn't that exciting of an ep.

Another show I'm loving is Privileged, Joanna Garcia is good in it, and the story is interesting and fluffy at the same time, but it doesn't get a lot of advertisement, so I'm not sure it will last.

I liked HIMYM, but it just felt like something was missing... I don't know. Sarah Chalke will always be Eliot to me, and I think it was weird not having a story within a story, but its still one of the best comedies out there, along with THE BIG BANG THEORY, yes it deserves caps:)

- I'm going to Montreal this weekend to visit my uncle, while my parents go golfing, but they're both teachers so most of Saturday will be us doing work:( But maybe if it get a bunch of reading done, I can make icons, and change my layout, I have a whole revamp in mind, adding quotes a proper header and all that.
- UGH I have a doctor's appt. on Friday and I'm going to have to go for blood tests:(

Okay so I still love them. They were probably the first celeb couple I fell in love with, they just seemed so in love and like they were best friends. I remember when they taped messages for each other on Oprah, it was cute.

So I find these two incredibly cute and I thought I would put something together for picspammy

So I'm starting my picspams for picspammy with one of my favorite old Hollywood couples, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.

They met while filming Cleopatra, one of the biggest movie busts in history. It nearly bankrupt the studio, and few people cared about the movie as much as its stars. Both of them were married when they had an affair on the set, but divorced their respective partners to get married. (Taylor was married to Eddie Fisher who she stole away from Debbie Reynolds). They were married in 1964 for the first time, it lasted 10 years before they divorced. A little over a year later they were married again but it only lasted a year. They were both passionate, loving people and they loved each other so much but they were also self-destructive and cruel to one another. Despite all the fights, I think they are one of the classiest couples, and its interesting to see how destructive loving someone like that can be. They starred over 10 movies together.

I love this photo just because the name on her trailer is Elizabeth Burton.

However, BBC reporter John Simpson - who met Burton on the set of Exorcist II: The Heretic shortly after his 1976 divorce - claims the late actor even tried to give up drinking in a bid to win back the Hollywood legend. According to Simpson, Burton said: "If (Taylor)'d have me back, I'd leave this s**tty film and this ghastly heat right now and charter a plane to go wherever she was. But it's the old thing: can't live with her, can't live without her. But I adore Elizabeth, and I always will."

So there we have it, proof that love can be as messy as it is beautiful.

Drunk ramblings about shows... oh MY!!

So I'm a little drunk right now... but I can still type (YAY)

I've decided to have a little frosh party of my own, I've never drank alone but hey I'm an adult and I can. lol.

- Everyone needs to check out nightcomes new icon post @ glassballerina, It is soooo seriously pretty (all her icons are), and the manips put the ones I'm working on to shame. This post is a reason she is my fav icon maker out there!
- Gossip Girl and OTH tomorrow! Expect some sort of review. I need Leighton Meester back on my screen! I have to say seeing Ed outside GG, has made me wish they let him keep his accent (Hot) and sense of style. There have to be some Brit socialites in NYC.
-I'm watching the hurricane watch on CNN and I hope all of you in its path are safe, and that it isn't as bad as they say it will be.
- I want new Big Bang Theory and HIMYM, like now!
- I love David Mitchell and Mock The Week, why can't our panel shows be as funny???
- I feel really good about the icons I'm making, it's nice to have something I enjoy and be kind of good at.

I love my flist! But my Vodka is waiting;)

ETA: Really drunk... I;ve owned OTH s4 for over a month and haven't watched it, why??

ETA 2: Why can't the next half of BSG be here now??? Seriously I wanna know how it ends.

So Princess Bride is one of my favorite guitly pleasure movies. Definitely one of the most quoted out there, I have a few of my favorite quotes after the picspam but I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting:) Spoilers for the whole movie.
