It’s December 1, which means the advent calendars are in play, the Christmas jingles in shops and snow-crusted window panes no longer inspire ‘It’s way too early’ comments, and those damn elves need moving every damn night. I’ve been strategic this year - one damn elf has made her entrance, with a note (in left-hand-written mirror text) saying the others will be along ‘soon’. Admittedly ‘soon’ with my kids often means in the next 15 seconds, but I’m hoping this will give me a few more nights of going to bed when I actually go to bed, and not waking suddenly at 1am realising I didn’t move the damn elves and if we’re going to stretch the magic of Christmas out for as long as possible, I better get up and move the damn elves.
