We solved the "Power Generation Gap" between 5kw and 30kw

Low-power solutions below 5kW range in range in cost from a few thousand dollars for simple consumer-grade solar panels to more expensive thermoelectric generators, fuel cells, and Stirling engines costing over $100,000.  Over 30kw the industrial-grade solutions like natural gas engines and microturbines didn’t provide the reliability and cost-effectiveness needed for remote well sites.

Westgen solved the problem with a patent-pending design that combines solar panels and lithium phosphate batteries with a custom-tuned reciprocating engine that can use site gas, natural gas, or propane for continuous, reliable power.

3 Steps to choosing the right EPOD

Step 1. Purpose -- Choose the EPOD that fits your site: Air & Power, Air-only or Power-only

Does your well site have existing power?
Yes – then you may be able to use the EPOD CA (Compressed Air) series.
No site power? Then you will need the EPOD AP series or EPOD PR (Power-only) series. The AP & PR series both have generators to power the air compressor for your zero-bleed pneumatics.

Step 2. Size -- Mini, Standard, or XL

EPODs come in 3 sizes:
Mini — a self-enclosed unit 8’W x 4’L
Standard — 8’W x 10’L x 8.5’H
XL — 8’W x 20’L x 8.5’H

Step 3. Capacity -- up to 30kW of power and 100scfm of clean, dry instrument air

EPODs can be configured with generators in 6kW, 20kW, or 30kW sizes.
Air compressors in 5hp, 7.5hp, 10hp, 15hp, 20hp, and 30hp sizes in Simplex and Duplex models for up to 100 scfm of clean, dry instrument air.

EPOD Power-only (PR) Series

The EPOD PR series is a power generation solution that comes in 3 capacities: 6kW, 20kW, and 30kW.
The 6kW model is available in the Mini size but 20kW and 30kW models are in Standard or XL sizes only.

EPOD Air-only (CA) Series

The EPOD CA series is an air-only solution that requires site power for the air compressor. Site power can be from utility power or any other on-site generator.

EPOD PR Series — Power-only

The EPOD PR series is all about power generation. 

Our industrial-grade engine out-performs a standard Cummins engine in terms of power output and long-term reliability.  Our EPOD generators are designed to operate intermittently so they only generate power (and consume fuel) when needed. That reduces run-time and extends the maintenance cycle up to 12 months

Fuel Options:  Site gas, natural gas or propane.  Optional inline scrubber for sour gas up to 1%.

Power Generation: 6kW, 20kw, and 30kW

Hybrid (optional): Advanced solar panels and UPS battery array providing over 20kW of DC power

    What is the EPOD?

    Westgen’s EPOD is a proprietary integrated system that provides reliable power and compressed air using proven technologies with low maintenance requirements and low operating costs.

    How does the EPOD work?

    The EPOD is a hybrid design powered primarily by solar energy with a reciprocating gas engine (wellhead gas capable) to provide back up power for those occasional not so sunny Canadian days. The EPOD has an advanced battery system which provides reliable power to your wellsite with up to 4 days of backup power. The EPOD features a duplex air compressor with a large wet air receiver to provide ample instrument air to run your pneumatic control system on air instead of methane.

    How can the EPOD benefit my company?

    The EPOD can save you money on your overall wellpad design, while also providing a zero venting control system solution that is safer, more reliable, and more environmentally friendly than today’s fuel gas driven pneumatic designs. Furthermore, by offsetting methane emissions, the EPOD can generate carbon credits or reduce your fuel tax burden.

    What options does the EPOD have?

    The EPOD has a menu of options available to fit your specific application. The generator is available in 6 kW, 20 kW, and 35 kW sizes while the air compressor is available in 3, 5, or 7.5 HP duplex recip or scroll options.

    How does the EPOD eliminate emissions and generate carbon credits?

    By eliminating fuel gas in favour of air as the motive energy powering your pneumatic control system, the EPOD offsets methane emissions to atmosphere. In Alberta, there is a carbon credit protocol that allows companies to generate carbon credits any time they choose instrument air on wellsites prior to Jan 1, 2023. In other jurisdictions, the tax burden is reduced because natural gas is not consumed and therefore taxed during the operation of the control system.
