Have you ever wondered how a street dog gets to a vet when they are sick? While the local community provides most with access to food, shelter, and – what they love most – FREEDOM, what they can’t provide is veterinary care, leaving many to suffer with serious injuries or illnesses. This is something no animal should EVER have to endure.
Help Us Help Them
WECare is the ONLY vet hospital on the island that's dedicated to street dogs, with our team of highly qualified vets and nurses providing international standard veterinary care 365 days a year.
Our CNVR team is out in the community five days a week, neutering, vaccinating, and microchipping thousands of dogs every year — in 2025, we neutered a whopping 5,773 dogs at CNVR alone.
In 2023, we were recognised by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control as the first ever Rabies Centre of Excellence in Sri Lanka. We're fighting harder than ever to eradicate this deadly virus, in both humans and animals.
Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release (CNVR) is the backbone of everything we do. It’s the ONLY humane, sustainable and impactful way of reducing the roaming dog population and keeping the current ones happy and healthy.
As vets, our focus is very much on the high level of care we provide. As animal lovers, we combine our skills with love and compassion, creating not only a life-saving, but a cuddle-filled experience for our patients.
WECare provides education programmes in schools, neighbourhoods, and at our outreach programme. We also carry out veterinary teaching, aiming to help transform industry standards islandwide.
There are SO many ways you can support us! As an animal charity with ZERO government funding we rely on financial support from fellow animal lovers, be it sending us a monetary donation (we love 'em monthly!), sponsoring one of our resident dogs, buying our merch, or ordering our vet-formulated WECare dog food (which channels 100% of profits to us!).
Of course, if the tropics are calling, you can also come and work or volunteer with us. And if none of the above floats your boat, we'd really appreciate you following us on social media and shouting about us to your mates!
Your support translates into incredible results.
