    Buzzfeed was able to use Venmo’s public friend lists to draw a detailed social graph of one of the most heavily guarded individuals in the world. But you don’t have to be the POTUS for this feature to be a big security problem.

    When the FCC rolled back protections, California stepped up to bar ISPs from blocking and throttling internet traffic. That law is under attack by ISPs. We've urged the 9th Circuit to uphold a ruling that the lawsuit is unlikely to succeed.

    EFF strongly supports the Governor's broadband proposal. Running fiber networks are technically challenging, but with guidance, technical support, and financial backing from the state of California, 21st century fiber infrastructure is well within the reach of every community.

    As we’ve noted in the past, national private ISPs have proven themselves unwilling to tackle the rural and low-income urban fiber challenge. It is time to embrace local options.
