W.C. Mericle is a Chicago-based singer/ songwriter who writes quirky, emotional songs that feel like tiny stories — a little sad, a little funny, and just tender enough to sneak up on you.
His music lives somewhere between folk and pop and whatever else wanders in.
His newest album, A Man in Ordinary Shoes, features 12 songs about space, love, secrets, dentists, queens, bones, birds, angels — and one song that’s secretly about you. It follows his earlier albums, A Bin Full of Snouts and Such Helpful Little Birds — both filled with strange charm, sideways grief, and a fondness for the beautifully broken.

Such Helpful Little Birds
This second release from indie folk artist W.C. Mericle was recorded in a Los Angeles home studio frequented by the likes of Brian Wilson and Carole King. Dedicated to his eternal friend, Rufus, the album’s 14 songs feature imaginative lyrics, tuneful melodies, and a Beatles cover so unique, W.C.’s cover got covered.
A Bin Full of Snouts
Heralded as “a sparkly gem,” W.C. Mericle’s debut album features songs that are happy and sad — often at the same time. Centered around the acoustic guitar, the album includes ukulele, accordion, pedal steel, and the occasional fiddle for a distinctly alt-folk vibe.
