Overview
Texas continues to need well-prepared public educators, especially in high-need areas such as elementary education, special education, bilingual/English as a Second Language instruction, and early childhood education. Teaching also remains a stable professional pathway, with Texas pre-K–12 teachers earning a median annual wage of approximately $61,400 to $62,700 in 2024, depending on the teaching role. The Associate of Arts in Teaching provides an accessible first step for students who want to begin the pathway toward a bachelor’s degree, educator preparation, and future service in Texas classrooms.
