Half-assed anniversary post (7 years on LJ wow!!!). Haven't actually posted for the whole year. Not a paid user anymore since December. I guess I have definitely abandonned LJ? But I do still read my flist and I haven't really picked up DW or tumblr, I just use them as utilities, not to meet other fans or have a community feeling. So have I grown out of fandom? It's not really that either, because I'm still pretty obsessed with fandomy stuff. So I don't know. I'm just a bigger lurker than ever.

Said fandomy stuff:
- Homestuck, still pretty strong. I'm starting to save less fanarts though? But I continue the translation. Damn proud to have at least converted someone to the fullest.
- Am eying toward Teen Wolf, because to my surprise I really enjoyed season 1 when it was on TV and it looks like a very dedicated fanbase, what with their shipping and rec lists! I can't bring myself to download anything though, so I'm too behind to fully embrace it. (Might be a more or less unconscious self-defense strategy.)
- I haven't watched any new anime. I still regularly buy manga, even new series, but that's pretty much it. Didn't go to Japan Expo this year because body reasons.
- Ah yeah, the only thing I downloaded of all year was the first season of Push Girls. It doesn't count for fandom.
- Am at the last boss (I think???) of KH 3D. Then I'll finish Cave Story, I am at the last boss too but I might replay it to get a better ending? Still haven't bought pkm B&W2 but I'm planning to. Instead I'm playing Alan Wake on PC, even if I already watched it all in let's play...

My health is reaching new lows so it is difficult for me to cheer up to the fullest. It's probably affecting my internet life too. LJ is doing its best to make everybody leave so I have no idea how next year's post will look like, if there's one. But I'm still glad to say hello to you, if you're still reading this :)

Stats for 2012:
Souvenirs : 762 entrées
Amis : 76/134/9
Amie de : 76/108
Entrées : 621
Commentaires : Envoyé : 6,796 - Reçu : 3,352 (same as last year holy crap)

6th anniversary!
Posting private to not spam with inane stuff. Will unlock in a few days.

Stats for 2011:
Souvenirs : 750 entrées
Amis : 80/134/9
Amie de : 77/109
Entrées : 620
Commentaires : Envoyé : 6,671 - Reçu : 3,352

- New obsession of the year is Homestuck ahahah. It's pretty obvious.
- I kinda stopped watching anime (I was looking forward Natsume Yuujinchou new season and Ao no Exorcist, and didn't even watched the end of their series) and manga as well... I think there's only KHR I follow weekly now. And I haven't bought new manga volumes since May.
- Maybe the two points above are related.
- At any rate I've been working pretty hard on Homestuck-FR and it does takes a lot of time.
- So does tumblr. Stupid new site so convenient to get a ton of fanarts!
- KHR did survive well compared to what I was saying last year. I really like the Shimon after all :)
- LJ was not as much as a dick as usual I think? I don't remember particular scandals.
- I still don't post a lot, but hey I'm still here.

Watched the End of Act yesterday morning on Livestream before rushing to work, and saw it a few times yesterday evening when I came back. Wow. I have hardly read any analysis about it so I don't know if my thoughts are common or not, but here we go:

I realized this morning that the Exiles would probably have been obliterated by the Scratch if Jack had not killed them before :( It's both a depressing and relieving thought. I'm especially sad for WQ and WK because they just got like 10 seconds together... But god is PM awesome. I never doubted it but it just keeps being the case.

Part 3 with Dave and Rose is gorgeous! Maybe it's my favorite moment of the flash? I loved the art and the music, Flare, it's so beautiful ;_; btw the Dave and Davesprite arts that Xamag drew show their eyes behind the shades, I think it's the first time we see Dave's eyes this way in canon. And he's showing emotions! But too bad we didn't get to see Dave vs DD, I’d have loved that.

I didn't expect Dave and Rose to make it God Tier though. I'm extremely relieved because for a while during the flash I really thought they were both going to die :( I think it was the biggest surprise for me, because I had already thought about what would happen if Jade died on her quest bed, and I had read somewhere the theory that Sollux would propel the meteore to the Green Sun like his ancestor, and that was why he had the googles.

I'm happy that Davesprite survived too :3 And all the off-screen characters like the other sprites, the consorts, and the denizens because I find them hyper intriguing.

GT!Jade design is gorgeous too, omg. These stripes ♥

I bought Vol. 8 and beside all the fantastic Cascade goodness, my favorite track is Davesprite :)

Speculation/question time!

The flash is divided in 7 parts and part 5 is shown with the red/blue duality theme exactly like Act 5, so I wonder if this isn't foreshadowing that HS will be 7 Acts long. Or maybe 6 Acts and an Epilogue, because part 7 of the flash is very short?

Are Jade and John directly going to meet with everyone at the Green Sun? Shouldn't they appear in Hussie's study or something? In any case, I’m just very curious to see what the consequences of the Scratch will actually be.

So is Sollux dead or alive after all? I think that even if blind!Sollux dies, 2D!Sollux will still be there. I hope we're not going to lose both. (Wouldn't that be awkward if we ended up with two Sollux in the group hehehe)

I strongly believe that one day in the story, Dave will drop his shades for good. Going God Tier would have been a cool moment to do that.

If everybody really finally manages to meet up, how will Hussie handle dialogs? I want to see interactioooooons gdi

PM took WV's body with her when she went after Jack. I hope that it's relevant somehow.

Did you check the new shirts and hoodies? The descriptions of the previous ones say things like "as worn by John, the Heir of Breath". But it is only "as worn by ???, the ??? of Mind" for the new ones. What if it is because we won’t see the other God Tier designs on previously introduced Heroes, but on new ones? What if Act 6 focused more on previous scratched sessions (the Ancestors, and maybe the kids’ Guardians as well) and some of them had made it God Tier? This is my biggest hope for Act 6 (besides everybody managing to survive).

[EDIT] :O

This is a first post about my holidays last week! Near the place I lived was a small town called Hunawihr where a “butterfly garden” was built. They have greenhouses with exotic butterflies and plants and participate in programs of species preservation. They receive chrysalises from all over the world and use controlled chambers to develop them. So in addition to being able to wander around free butterflies in the greenhouses, visitors can also witness their emergence from their chrysalis :D

I love flowers and butterflies so I adored this place and spent hours there.

Hibiscus!

There was a ton of orchids everywhere.

Atlas moths are the biggest moths of the world and they are just so pretty. I just wished I could have been able to take better pictures that would show how BIG they are.
Just learned about the Delicious redesign through ff_press. They’re taking it pretty badly and I can understand them! My Kingdom Heart rec list disappeared into thin air and I don’t know if it’s temporary or not. My general rec list, even if it’s not on such a large scale as ff_press, still lost most of its tags and of course all of its bundles. I would have to go through each link and check the tags one by one if I want to get my data coherent again.
Which is not going to happen anytime soon because the new navigation is buggy as hell! I keep getting errors or pages I did not requested.

And anyway, what’s the point of a rec list without tags and bundles? I could try to “stack” per fandom but it’s going to be a pain and a lot of fandoms are only featured once so… A stack of rare fandoms? I’ll have to edit it all the time when a fandom gets recced enough. Stack per genre? Bigger pain and completely useless. I don’t really know what to do besides see if the issues will be fixed (ahah yeah right the new owners openly said that they think the previous organization of the site sucked) or if a fandom bookmark site will appear. But I don’t want to depend on AO3 because I get 503 errors way too often…

First thing first, I’m going to look through the help if I can find how to ask them where my KH account is. Hope for success: below zero.

[EDIT] Could I have been stupid enough to import from Yahoo only one account and forget to transfer the second one to avos? It's possible, but that would be pretty dumb, even for me. And now I have no mean to check if I did, argh! *fumes*

Hi everyone, this is an update from my shiny netbook while I’m on holidays! I’m in the East of France, in the Vosges Mountains. For a week! I left on a whim, let’s just say that I didn’t do anything holiday-ish during the summer and then I realized that as next year will be extremely busy at work, if I don’t go now I’ll never go.
I’m extremely bad at organizing holidays, no idea why.

Anyway, the area is beautiful and it looks like the whole week is going to have a beautiful weather, so yay! I’m going to do nothing but read or stitch while looking at lakes and smelling pinales. And sleep. I even have wifi \o/ Life is glorious.

I didn’t say it yet, but I’m very very excited for KH3D. This crossover looks so shiny! I thought it would be forever stuck in the realm of fanfictions, and it’s going to be canon!! And my favorite world is back :3 I’m curious to see what else will be new, and which other Disneys we’ll get. B-but I’m still reluctant to buy a 3DS, so I don’t know what I’m going to do :( Maybe like I did with BBS, borrow the platform from someone and just buy the game. I just need to find someone owning a 3DS first...

The only other game that completely picked my interest lately is Bioshock Infinite. I don’t really like the voice they gave to the main character but the more I see about Elisabeth the more I love her. And overall, visually it’s breathtaking. I can’t wait!

I ordered a netbook :D I feel a little ashamed because it’s the first time I buy something that expensive *without really needing it*, I mean, my tower computer still works perfectly. But my old laptop is 7 years old now, and I did all I could to improve its speed yet it takes 15 minutes to start and even simply browsing the internet makes it regularly crash. Every time I had to use it, I was longing for a new one.

I had a lot of problems with my car during all summer, and initially it was supposed to cost me a little over 1000 euros, but in the end they managed to fix it (??? I’m not entirely convinced of it yet) for less than 200, so I have money. And HP was having an offer for customers buying a computer along with accessories… How could I resist? (I also bought a headset and I’m going to try using Skype! It’ll make playing Portal 2 with osakapowaa much easier ahah)

Now, how should I call it? If I name it accordingly to my newest fandom then there are several possibilities:

View Poll: #1773280

I don't know what's going on lately between me and the sound "s".

Much delayed for various reasons, but I really wanted to try to make my own, because this way not only can I try to lure more people in, but also to organize my thoughts and ~*~feelings~*~ about this new weird obsession of mine :D

1) What is Homestuck/MSPA?

Homestuck is a webcomic made by the very imaginative Andrew Hussie, though after a while he started to get help from many contributors in the form of music and additional art in his animations. You can start reading it here and then go through the story by clicking the > link on each page, like you’re entering commands in an interactive fiction game that would have only one choice every time.

Hussie’s previous webcomics used the same format and the commands were given by readers, but it was not entirely possible with the complexity of Homestuck (it is still extremely interactive, as Hussie sometimes includes readers’ suggestions for comical interludes or to lead the plot in an unexpected way). Hussie advices new readers to start reading his site (MSPA) with Problem Sleuth, his previous story, but that’s not obligatory as you will only miss a few references if you start with Homestuck. (Problem Sleuth is an awesome read too! Its style is much rougher, but it’s very fun and full of crazy ideas. It is also much shorter, and finished.)

In case it isn’t obvious, the site is named MSPA because everything is drawn as if with the software Paint, but don’t let the apparent simplicity fool you! Homestuck is not at all what it looks like at first.

Note: I started reading while knowing very little of Homestuck, and I really enjoyed each twist and character introduction. So I’ll stay as vague as possible here, but if you want to know a little more before deciding if you’ll give it a try or not, I put very very little spoilers between links :)

2) Why you might like it – the story

Apparently Hussie said that Homestuck was like Spore meets the Sims. Somewhere I read that it’s like Jumanji, only with space instead of the jungle and more time-travel shenanigans, and I think it describes it even better! Basically, it’s the story of four 13 years-old kids (who only know each other through the internet) playing a videogame they don’t know anything about, and which turns out to be something much bigger than a simple game, that will transcend reality to the point of changing their and the Earth’s destiny. And the universe’s too, come to think of it!

The plot starts slow, almost inexistent as we watch a single character going through a mess of silly disorganized ordeals in his house, but then the game starts and it gets more SF, complicated, apocalyptic, meta… And then you find yourself unable to stop clicking those > links.

This is what I mean when I talk about change of setting (and this one is only Act 1 -> Act 2, so imagine Act 5!)

Sure Homestuck looks huge from the outside, it’s been going steadily for more than two years! As of now, there are thousands of pages and something like 300000 words. But please don’t be intimidated, just read at your own rhythm :) I really really advice that you don’t skip the seemingly “boring” parts of the story, because Hussie is a master of foreshadowing and Chekhov’s guns, and many of the things that seem silly at first or just there for comical purposes will become relevant and important to the plot or the characters’ development. Don’t skip the pesterlogs either, because beside plot exposition, you would also miss character interactions and a lot of humor.

Oh yeah, because I should also mention that Homestuck is full of very funny moments, as well as epic or tragic ones. Shit gets real. People die. Readers cry. Readers also get trolled a lot >.>

3) Why you might like it – the characters

Those kids, guys, my heartstrings ;_; They will grow on you as you read and learn to discover their complexity. They are cute. They are funny. They hide a lot of things under the surface. As the story progress they are forced to grow up and sometimes it’s so sad it’s painful, but sometimes it’s really sweet. It’s always a pleasure to read how they interact with and stick up for each other.
Here are more details on each kid: EB, TT, TG, GG.

As the Homestuck universe grows, more characters are added to the cast. Some of them will be helpful, or ambiguous, or silly, others some terrifying villains. Some of them will be a complex combination of those traits, and an endless source of speculation.

Also, you might have heard of the Trolls, and wonder what the hell is going with them and why is everybody babbling about them? I won’t go into details here because they appear quite late in the story, and at that point I bet you’ll have already decided if you’re enjoying reading Homestuck or not. Just know that they are characters that are very popular because of their particular personalities, quirks and flaws, which make people identify with them a lot. It is also very fun to play with the insights of their culture, their history and their biology the comic is filled with.

It’s worthy to note that while Homestuck is not perfect when it comes to social justice and sensitivity, at least girls are extremely well represented, with a balanced male to female character ratio, and really badass and independent girls. No damsel in distress here! It is also pretty open-minded when it comes to pairings. Het couples get most of the spotlight in canon but slash is also acknowledged and hinted pretty much everywhere.

4) Why you might like it – the format

Homestuck is a multimedia experimental platform. Beside text and images, pages may have animated gifs, flash animations, background music, interactive flash games… Obviously Hussie doesn’t like routine and always tries to surprise readers with his format choices as much as with narrative twist. Flash animations are like cutscenes of a videogame and I really wish I could link one to show you how impressive they are, but the big ones are all full of spoilers, ahah oops. Flash games can be battles, exploration of a map, characters dialogues with multiple choices… Possibilities are endless.

Music is another great point of Homestuck. Some songs are directly included in the comic itself, especially for cutscenes, but there are many others available for listening online (and buying, if you feel like supporting the webcomic). Influences are as diverse as game soundtracks, jazz, rock, metal, mixing, a bit of everything, and I’m far from having it all covered here!

But, here is what makes Homestuck so fun imho: it’s full of meta. It’s a story about a videogame that is told in the form a videogame, with videogame features like cutscenes and save points. Characters are following the rules of a defined gameplay (like their inventories or their weapons), however it’s mainly for gags though it can become critical in the most unexpected ways. The story itself is regularly a brilliant example of mise en abîme, with various levels of plot going on in different timelines and interacting with each others. There are narrators and fourth walls and deliberate self-inserts and they actually serve a purpose in the story.

Not to mention, Homestuck is a melting pot of influences from pop culture and internet culture. It’s full of references/tributes/parodies of various videogames of course, but also movies, actors, comics, books, folklore, internet memes and semantics... It takes all of it and alchemizes it into something new, its own culture with its own memes and references. Ultimately, I believe that the final layer of meta is that Homestuck is a webcomic about its readers, those internet-addicted geeks who grew up with all these influences like you and I :)

Finally, despite its apparent simplicity, Homestuck takes great attention to details, whether they are winks to geeks or just borderline OCD. Anyway Hussie doesn’t take his readers for idiots and it shows, and that’s really pleasant.

5) Why you might not like it – and seriously, that’s ok too

- The art, I can understand it could put some people off. But you might get used to it faster than you think!
- The plot, because sometimes it really get convoluted to the point you won’t know what’s going on and when. However Hussie does sometimes some very helpful recaps of the story so far, and Homestuck has a very detailed wiki that could help if you’re really lost.
- Hussie’s occasional asshattery. It’s up to you to take it as condescension or playful trolling, though.

6) How is the fandom?

I am very conflicted on this one. I love it and it’s extremely creative (after all canon itself takes “the only limit is your imagination” literally to new levels), with a lot of fics, avalanches of fanarts, a very active kinkmeme, cosplays, FSTs… I don’t think I ever had a fandom with so many AUs and crossovers I enjoy! There is also a lot of fanmusic, which is a new experience for me. I’d love to make multi-support rec post of Homestuck fanworks in the future, there’s so much awesome stuff!

But on the other hand it’s definitely one of the wankiest fandom I’ve ever been a part of, and it has quite a bad reputation outside. I think it’s because a lot of factors add up: the fanbase is huge, there are many young fans, there are many entitled fans who consider the proximity of Hussie with his fans and interactivity as an assurance that the story will go the way they intend it (not surprisingly it hardly ever does), and there are many dedicated shippers and anti-shippers who take the webcomic way too seriously. I mean, it’s the fandom where shipping wars are not so much about which character should end with, but more about who interprets/respects canon the best and understands the sexuality of the characters the best (and Hussie doesn’t help, he created a whole species with an entirely different concept of romance. It’s very fun to play with but it’s pure trollbait for shippers).

But as usual with fandom even if wank is louder, the huge majority of people are very nice and enthusiastic, and have enough hindsight to not take things too seriously. At any rate so far I’ve been having tons of fun :D

Finally, Homestuck is updated regularly (almost every day), which means it’s a constant source of discussion and speculation. This fandom is never boring!

tl;dr Read iiiit and then we'll have fun together spazzing and speculating :3 :3 :3

    <lj:music>Homestuck, unsurprisingly</lj:music>

Here is my report of this year’s Japan-Expo! And it’s only one week late, ahah, I’m awesome. Picture heavy because osakapowaa helped me hunting down cosplays all four days even if I personally went only on Thursday.

There were two huge horses like this at the entrance of the con. I don’t really understood why, the paper on the crate said that it was part of a project to gather funds to help Japan, but how is this weird stuff helping anything?? So, uh, I took the picture because I thought of Equius and it made me lol, but then Hussie posted this in his Formspring, which made it even more hilarious. Come to France next year Hussiiiiie, we’ve got muscular horse men!

Another pic that would sum up well my JE experience this year: I have no idea what’s going on but it looks fun, if a tad ridiculous. Well to be honest I mainly roamed the amateur artists’ alleys, so I don’t really know what the events were this year. There were people I wanted to see and I was looking for loot!

Also Osaka is completely fond of Nyan Cat so we had fun taking pictures of anything Nyan Cat related that we ran into. Case in point:

But we are not insane, I swear!

A nifty installation.

Also there were MANY One Piece cosplayers this year (but otherwise I think Bleach is slowly dethroning Naruto as most popular cosplay?). I’m keeping this one because of this wonderful Bon Clay <3

Crossover ideas? :3

Proof that other people know Homestuck? :O I don’t know what the fellow accompanying Bro on the right is though, so I might have it all wrong.

Best cosplays are improbable cosplays.

Real-life defying-gravity hair :O

I can recognize a lot of you from Hetalia Day, I’m sorry I missed the meet-up guys, you all look great! This picture was taken by Osaka on Saturday and I wasn’t there :(

It was a fun convention but I’m particularly happy to have managed to see both aresky and babel121! I also bought a bunch of fanart cards, bookmarks and straps. I took many so I can give some to other people:

There was also a Sokka bookmark but I gave it to Osaka :3

Then here are the fanbooks I bought:

The MSMM one is from a Spanish artist, Kenneos. It’s a beautiful fanbook in full colors with some Homura/Madoka, Kyoko/Sayaka, and Charlotte/Mami! It feels so good to finally have it in my own hands! And and and Aresky was a sweetheart and drew me my current favourite KHR pairing on the first page, thank you so much, your drawing is so cute ♥

And then kaya_kunami from Babel’s circle Suki was kind enough to draw me a Homestuck fanart, and it was John/Karkat and asdfgvpiyasdf thank youuuu I didn’t think I would find Homestuck fans there, let alone artists as nice as you ;o;

lol look at my fannish tastes. Apparently I am in the special niche of fail!leader!shipping XD;
Also I probably look silly being so overjoyed like this, but being able to exchange a few words with some of the great artists I saw there and even *gasp* ask for art, is a huge improvement for me who is always so pathetically shy ^^; So I guess I’ll be there again next year?

Can you believe I'm still alive? :O

It's time for a VGC report! The French selections were yesterday and, considering it was litterally 10 minutes away by car from my home, it would have been too bad to not try it again. As last year I went with the awesome osakapowaa :D

I don't have a lot of pictures this year because the light was very bad, especially in the main room :(

Obligatory picture of la Grande Arche. The tournament was taking place in a huge room below.

There was also a Pikachu but it wasn't around when I was taking pictures! Otherwise all decorations were about 5th Gen.

And this is team I used:

No legendaries, because I wanted to try IV breeding (which turned out painfully frustrating but rewarding!)
Basically, Krookodile is my lead, and is seconded either by Sigilyph or Eelektross. That way I can attack hard and fast with both physical and special attacks with an excellent coverage of weaknesses. Sigilyph strikes harder and faster but Eelektross has no weaknesses and better defenses/HP. Also they work great in duo because Krookodile can use Earthquake without hurting its partner and Eelektross can use Discharge without hurting Krookodile (area attacks are my ultimate reply to all the Protect/Detect shenanigans so popular in this gen).
Mienshao covers remaining types like Bug and Dark, can use Fake Out to laugh in the face of Trick Room strategies and combine its ability Regenerator with the attack U-turn, as well as Drain Punch to stay alive longer.

For my first match, I was against this team:

My opponent used the Trickster ability of Whimsicott and Protect a lot, but I was faster and stronger and I won! Without too much difficulty after all, I only lost one Pokémon. I'm very proud.

For my second match, I was against this team:
and another one but I don't remember ahah
My opponent's Chandelure used Trick Room and things got difficult for me but I resisted well, until we were at an Eelektross vs Reuniclus final showdown, but Reuniclus has better defenses so I lost :(

TL;DR I did significantly better than last year even if doesn't look very impressive... But I'm happy to see that I'm getting better, and it was fun. I wasn't against any legendary, even though there was plenty in the finals I watched. My second opponent was very friendly too :)
However I'm really not sure I'll participate again next year, first because it probably won't be in such a convenient place again, and second because it was hard enough to come up with a team and study metagame for a single gen! Next year's VGC will certainly have all gen allowed and it's going to be a pain to prepare. But who knows. Maybe I'll want to try again and do even better.

Then osakapowaa and I went to spend a little time in the mall next to the Grande Arche (I don't even know who won the Masters Division; but I was there for the Junior and Senior finals, and both were won by people from UK), so I'm now a proud owner of the five first volume of the French version of Ao no Exorcist :D I also yielded to osaka's power of persuasion and bought Portal 2. Which I'm going to play right now ♥

I finished reading Homestuck \o/ At the worst moment ever, ahah, considering what’s happening to my favourite characters. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be in the corner in foetal position with my hands on my ears repeating “this is not what it seems to be” over and over again. What a read that was!

I loooooved the part with crazy!Gamzee, and then the showdown and Kanaya. The whole thing was so cool and creepy! (that BGM ahahahah) Well, except for so many characters dying everywhere of course, but that was part of the creepy. And I’m still in denial about everyone dying so fast, so. I think they’ll still be around, at least in bubbles, having parties and making amends.

On the other hand, I’m quite uninterested by the story of the ancestors. I’d rather focus on the main plot. But I wasn’t that much interested in the trolls when Act 5 began either, I learnt to like all of them along the way, maybe that’ll be the same here. And I bet, knowing Hussie, that they’ll probably play a part somehow in the main plot too. Why not?

Otherwise everything is hyper cool. Grimdark!Rose ♥ GodTier!John ♥ John being a dork with WV in a flying car? Oh god I can’t find my heart anymore, it’s melted completely.

Obligatory squee list:

My favourite character is definitely Karkat. His speech patterns are hilarious, and he’s such an interesting character with insecurities and flaws everywhere, and yet he goes with his ego and leader talks, and he’s also cute. Look at him doing his best to hate everybody and failing completely. I love him.

My other favourite characters are Dave, John and Sollux. Then I love all the cast… My least favourite character would be Nepeta I think, because she was the most useless and caricatural, and yet I was heartbroken by how she died :( I used to not like Aradia but not anymore since she’s made it to God Tier and changed personality. So, yup, I like everyone.

Also (now that I have time to consider ships before they get killed or kill each other all of a sudden), shipping! Pron make me uncomfortable because they are still supposed to be 12 or 13, but cuddles and fluff and declarations of unconditional hate and bromance feel me with glee! Short version: I’m all over Karkat/everyone and Dave/everyone. I can’t help it if they’re awesome with everybody!

Longer version: I can’t get enough of Karkat/Sollux and Dave/John bromance. I also like them shipped but just seeing them being the best bros ever makes me happy. John/Karkat is a big interest of mine too. Then Karkat/Terezi is very cool. I thought Feferi and Sollux made an awesome couple. I also like Dave/Jade and John/Rose just because their logs are so cute and adorable (playing in the snow together awwwww, and John being all awkward with Dark!Rose aww as well). But Tavros and Vriska broke my heart, that’s it, no shipping for you two anymore!

Crazy pairings list: Eridan/Rose for the hate!ship, especially after he snapped and what he did to Kanaya. See also: Eridan/Sollux. But the best is Karkat/Karkat (what, it’s almost kinda sorta canon) unless there is a way to pull off Sollux/Sollux, which I haven’t found yet but I hope I will.

And I’m probably forgetting a lot of stuff in that list.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I must continue my quest for fanarts and icons! *pchoooooo*

She’s a monster ♥

In-game I’m just visiting the new areas and looking for the remaining TMs. Everything was very chill until last week, when the announcement for the next VGC was made… Now you might remember that last year, I went to the French selection in Lyon, and I don’t regret it even if it was 400 km away and I lost lamely at my first match. But I had made my mind that it wasn’t worth it to try again, especially since it was so far away.

But the 2011 edition is in La Défense, which is 20 minutes away from home.

There’s no way I’ll be spending the 25th of June doing anything else, right? Hopefully osakapowaa will be willing to go with me again :3 Also, there is a rule saying that only Gen V Pokémon will be allowed, which is great! No more Palkia and Kyogre. Awesome. Most reactions I have seen is people complaining but I really think it’s a nice challenge to come up with a brand new strategy in 2 or 3 months. Even the existing Gen V metagame discussions on the internet include Pokémon from the other gens, so nothing is actually settled for this tournament.

I’m more experienced than last year; I know how to train for EV, and I have read about breeding for IV and natures, though I haven’t tried to practice yet. I have read about strategy too. I’m not afraid to start a competitive team from scratch (and I’ll have to anyway, I have nothing specifically designed for Duos yet). I just have to select my future team first! Also the second volume of the BW guide book should be released at the end of the week. The second volume of the HGSS one had plenty of competitive tips so I hope this will be the same and will give me some ideas ♥ If nothing else there will at least be egg group charts and things like that to make my life easier.

Anyway, even if I’m motivated, I don’t expect to be that much better than last year. I just want to have fun and play with Pokémon I like even if they’re not ~*~Top Tier~*~ or Uber or whatever. Let’s say that my goal for this year will be to pass the first round :3

Only sad thing about the VGC is that as far as I know there's no event distributed this time around :(

I can’t belive how bad I am at keeping this thing updated. Yet I am doing plenty of procrastination and plenty of LiveJournal, I guess I’m just… lazy :(

So what have I been doing since my last update?

- Watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica, which kind of blew me away. I love series that play with codes and tropes and tear them apart.
[EDIT quickly, to share two crossover pictures I love. I spend my time on the internet and I spend it good~]

- Watched the new episode of Doctor Who, which doesn’t impress me much so far though I’m happy to see Amy and Rory again. I was utterly unable to empathize with the Doctor for the whole episode :(

- Watched the two first episodes of Game of Thrones, and I am in love all over again.
ASOIAF was a big part of my teenager time; in high school I had a friend I could fangirl with and we read the books together. But then stuff happened, I lost my friend, and the books were so damn slow to be released in French (and at the time I didn’t read in English), my patience worn out and I stopped reading altogether (I don’t really remember but I guess I stopped at the end of book 3). Anyway, the series is very pretty and faithful, it’s amazing to see my memories of the first book take shape like this. I can’t wait to watch more.

- Started reading Homestuck
I had tried to read it once a long while ago but got bored pretty fast and stopped. To be honest it was fine with me because the only glimpse of the fandom I know is Fandom!secrets, and it’s some pretty ugly wank that makes Homestuck fans look quite obnoxious. But three weeks ago I had some days off and tried reading again (iirc babel121 said good things about it), went through Act 1 and was hooked at the end of it. I haven’t caught up yet, I’m at the beginning of Act 5 (here, to be precise). I don’t really care for the trolls so far, I must be doing it wrong because it’s all I had heard of beforehand XD But yeah, I don’t know, too many new characters at the same time. They’ll probably grow on me later.
I’m curious too see what the fandom is really like, but I want to catch up first (and it’s going to take a whiiiiile) so I won’t be spoiled.

- Started reading Black Adventures
Another thing I had already tried and given up. Because the beginning was way too random and I’m one of those boring people who believe that Hitler jokes are never funny. But once again I heard good things, insisted, and after all I have to admit that as soon as the author has full control of the plot, it’s actually pretty awesome, and cute. I sure don’t mind the blatant fanservice and crossdressing, and the cross-overs and references are well-played.

- Continued playing Pokémon White
I’ll save that for another post because I should talk about the incoming VGC too.

Alright, you might have noticed I’ve been back for a few days now. Or not, because I’ve been extreeeemely lazy (though I’ve kinda finished catching up my friend list). Overall I’m quite tired, and I don’t know when I’ll be able to get some rest because I started working again right after coming back. I also have some sort of a cold, my lungs hurt and I'm feverish and sore all over D:

Noteworthy things:
-	I finished FFXIII! Conclusion: I loved the characters but I probably won’t remember the story in a while. I thought there was a lot less emotion than in other FF games that left a more memorable mark on me. But it was still fun and pretty, and I intend to try to unlock more trophies. It’s going to be tough because…
-	…Pokémon BW Friday!! I can’t wait :3
-	I also finished Golden Sun Dark Dawn (so cute! But I thought that the optional bosses were too easy, what?) and PMD Explorers of the Sky (even cuter! But I don’t have the time/courage to hunt down all legendaries and evolutions ahah ^^;) while I was away.
-	I gave in to the Playstation Store and bought Flower (I tried it yesterday evening; I don’t really know what to say about it right now besides that it’s wonderful!) and FF7 because I’m in the middle of a big FF nostalgia crisis right now. I wish I could take holidays for no other reason than playing video games and sleeping for a few days…

There’s probably more to say but I’m too sleepy to be coherent.

Tired or not I can’t resist to the occasion of spamming fanarts, so here’s a meme I took from sno:
Respond with a character, I'll show you my favorite fanart for that character!

Got my 2010 bonus today at work whooo party time \o/

And now a fandom meme amcw177 gave me (an excuse for some picspam, really :P). I'm sorry I know you gave me 3 fandoms, but I really don't have enough time so I skipped Kingdom Hearts >.> It would have been full of Soras.

01. The first character I fell in love with:

I can't really explain it because it's not really my usual type, but I loved Beat immediately. I think it's his devotion and his honesty. I was so happy when he became my partner ;~;

02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:

First I thought Neku had nothing for him except his design, but as he progresses in the story he becomes extremely lovable :3

03. The character everyone else loves that I don't:

Joshua. I know. Sorry guys!

04. The character I love that everyone else hates:

Well Beat is not hated but he's completely overlooked in favor of characters I find much less interesting :/ Do you know how hard to find pictures of him alone?

05. The character I used to love but don't any longer:

Kariya... The only way I find him interesting anymore is paired with Uzuki ^^;

06. The character I would shag anytime:

Too bad I might die painfully, but Minamimoto is worth the risk XD

07. The character I'd want to be like:

Well everyone is having a hard time but it's nice to watch Neku's personality bloom so I chose him.

08. The character I'd slap:

Joshua if he pulled his smuginess BS on me.

09. A pairing that I love:

Eri/Shiki :3

10. A pairing that I hate:
Hanekoma/Neku :/

11. Favorite character:

12. My five favorite characters:

13. My five least favorite characters:
Nekogawa, Joshua, Kitaniji... Oh, and Shooter and Yammer >(

14. Which character I am most like:
I have honestly no idea :O Oddly I see a little of myself in pretty much everyone.

15. My deep, dark fandom secret:
The fact that the "canonical" crossdressing inspires so many fanartists fills me with glee :D

Though that's not really a secret actually.

01. The first character I fell in love with:

Well not "in love" in love but back in the Red and Blue days I played for the monsters, not for the characters.

02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
used to be 3564007 @ Pixiv
I never played RSE but the Hoenn arc of Pokémon Spécial was amazing and made me very partial to any incarnation of Ruby ♥

03. The character everyone else loves that I don't:

Never saw the appeal of Eusine's design, and he annoyed me a lot in HGSS, and I failed to see subtext with Morty...

04. The character I love that everyone else hates:

I know there is a lot of hate towards Kotone in the fandom because she took Crystal's role, but she is by far my favorite girl character design.

05. The character I used to love but don't any longer:

I don't really know... The closest would be anime!Team Rocket because I'm always disappointed by how lazily they're exploited :/

06. The character I would shag anytime:

HGSS!Red ♥ I'd go to the top of a mountain if that's what it takes.

07. The character I'd want to be like:

Any random trainer, seriously, who wouldn't want to travel the word with adorable monsters in one's pockets?

08. The character I'd slap:
Most of the big villains because their evil plans always sound so ridiculous.

09. A pairing that I love:
used to be 3499912 @ Pixiv
There are many pairings that I love but let's be honest, a lot of them are shiny just because the characters are archetypal and pretty (Green/Red... not that that's a bad thing...), so I picked Ruby/Shapphire because of how enjoyable it is to see them interacting and to see their relationship evolve through Pokéspé.

10. A pairing that I hate:
Big age gaps like Oak/Ash ewwww

11. Favorite character:

12. My five favorite characters:
Pokéspé-based because that's where they've got most characterization, and I basically love all protags:

And also Jasmine just because I love the contrast of her frail design and her steel Pokémon :3

13. My five least favorite characters:
Eusine, Steven, Wallace (aka guys everyone swoons over but I don't feel the vibe), Emerald, Yellow (I kinda like Yellow but at the same time I can't help but feel like she's extremely Mary-Sueish :/)

14. Which character I am most like:

Crystal! We're both overachiever and are not afraid to invest ourselves 100% into something until we get what we want. We feel like we work best alone but when we reach our limits we do our best to face our flaws, even if it means asking for help. Sometimes we sound harsh because we ask a lot from ourselves and expect the others to do the same.

15. My deep, dark fandom secret:
I didn't know what Missingno was before last year ._.

[EDIT] I forgot, but of course you can leave me a comment asking me for three of your fandoms if you want to do the meme!

I have a (probably stupid) question for you PS3 users: how can I check which trophies I won in FF13? I’m not good with this sort of things, it took me an embarrassingly long time to find the mission menu already ._.

I feel like I rule Gran Pulse :D Since I started exploring the area (Friday or Saturday?) I’ve been very effective and so far I have:
- maxed out the level 8 Crystariums for all three main roles of my characters (really helps to feel like the king of the jungle :DDD)
- finished all missions from 1 to 14 with rank 5
- explored all directly accessible areas
- unlocked the chocobos yesterday night, and I can’t wait to go exploring for hidden areas!
- tried for fun a B-ranked mission (17) and got 5 stars on my second try. I had initially planned to go back to the plot after mission 14, but if there are other missions I can win even if they’re B-ranked, why not try out?

I’d also like to try to get Sprint Shoes, I read an FAQ that said that I could get them by fiddling with Mission 7’s loot or with Chocobo diggings… I don’t use Sazh in my main team (it’s Hope/Lightning/Fang, so surprising XD) so I could really use some Auto-haste. With my luck it will probably take a stupidly long time, but… worth it!

Short version: I love Gran Pulse, and while I’m embarrassed by the amount of time I’ve already spent there, I’m going to stay a little while more ♥

Happy New Year for good this time :) I don't really have any resolution for the year, except maybe "be an adult finally, get a loan and buy an apartment", but it's very ambitious :/

I love Hope very much! This is amazing. I can tell all the tropes Squeenix is throwing at me, either for his design or his character development, and yet I fall for them happily and squeal like a baby. I played chapter 7 (Palumpolum) on Sunday and I was delighted because it was basically A Chapter All About Hope and I loved every moment of it. It is also the chapter in which Fang joins the party yum :3 And Snow was awesome too.

The main problem I feel with FF13 is that because of the corridors there is no exploration, and as a result the game feels like a long movie (CUTSCENES EVERYWHERE omg I've never seen so many) with a few random fights here and there. Buuuut I'm easy to please so I just go "ok then" and enjoy the characters and the backgrounds XD;

I think it's really really cool that the little sentences they say during fights evolve with the character developments and the plot ; Lightning was very cold and harsh with Hope at the beginning, but it changes after chapter 5 and she's supportive ; Vanille says "Sazh!" in a worried voice when she heals him, and he replies "Thanks Vanille" :3 And after he told her about having a son, she teases and calls him "Daddy"... and stops after hearing the rest of his story. It looks like a very random detail to enjoy so much, but idk, it's nifty.

I went back to work today! But it was ok, it was pretty quiet. However I have a presentation to prepare for Thursday, about a topic I'm not particularly well-versed in, so I guess I'll be reading tonight and not playing more PS3 :(

Is it still time to wish you all a merry Christmas? ^^; Maybe I should directly wish you a happy new year :D

I'm back from my dad's place, where I spent Christmas :) I had a huge surprise, I got a PS3! I was really not expecting it, usually my parents prefer offering me things that are, uhmmm, more socially acceptable, like clothing or house stuff, or at a pinch books or DVDs. Anyway I have been earning money early and since then I have taken the habit to feed my otaku obsessions of manga and videogames by myself. I think the last time my mom or dad bought a videogame for me, it was for my original Gameboy.

I'm going to take this as a hint that my dad recognizes I can be a functioning adult even if I spend most of my free time on the internet and on games :O Or maybe my little brother and sister pestered him until he gave up, that's another possibility XD

Considering that I spent all 2010 convincing myself that I didn't need/want a PS3, I am at a total loss of what games I'm going to buy ^^; I'm open to suggestions! I am thinking of Uncharted (1 first, or directly 2?) and Bayonetta (but I heard it's hard…). Also I must decide if I'm going to buy Assassin's Creed 2 for PC or PS3.

I got FF13 with the PS3 (it would have been the first game I would have bought anyway, ahah, my family knows me well), so I'm playing it right now. I'll have to buy the strategy guide quickly, I hope it won't be too hard to find since the game has been out for a while now. I've heard a lot of things about FF13, most of them are turning out to be true (the game is made of corridors, you can easily die even in random encounters, Vanille's English voice is annoyance personified), however I find myself liking some characters more than I expected (Snow and Serah), and I'm not entirely spoiled on the plot so I still get surprises from time to time. And thankfully I really like Hope so everything is fine :D I'm currently at chapter 5.

Oh, and, my dad refuses to own a TV, so I thought I'd have to wait until I went home to try the PS3, but he's awesome and managed to connect it to his overhead projector despite not having the correct plugs (we used spared copper wires from an old phone yay), so my first playing experience with my PS3 was with a screen the size of a wall :D

On Golden Sun, I've reached the point where I'm on a boat, and I'm also actively playing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (Explorer of Sky). Makes me pretty busy for the holidays :3

Speaking of Pokémon, wtf is thiiiis, it's the worst name I've ever seen ;_; How do you pronounce that? First game with a female prof, and I'm going to hate interacting with her because of her name. Of all genus of trees in the world why did they pick this one ._. "Volucité" and "Poichigeon" are ugly too. Thankfully I really like some other stuff too, like "Unys" and "Vipélierre".

I want to watch the Christmas special of Doctor Who...
