Please try to contain yourselves.

Here is the link to my journal (after much reading of 'how to' books. Notice how you still need books to tell you how to work these things?):

http://ripper-rulez.livejournal.com/543.html

Please excuse the title, I didn't choose it and I have no idea how to correct it.
To: Joe <j_d_blues@yahoo.com>
From: Adam <ap167@gmail.com>
Subject: RE:

> Judging by your last post you're as crabby as hell and that usually means bad news for someone.

You wound me Joeseph. I am the soul of civility and uplift any occasion.

> You never did get back to me about Meidani and so far I can't find anything else about her other than the little we already know.

Duncan finally came up for air long enough to check his mail. Conformation on her identity you will be glad to here. He says she claims to be about 200. Does that tally with what you have for her?

> If she is a threat to Mac then I'd kinda like to know it.

You and me both. According to him, she purposefully looked him up (always a bad sign) because her teacher is getting a bit 'over protective' (not a good sign).

> I have the feeling there is something going on in the background and it isn't good.

There is something not right about the entire thing. The fact that she was looking for him worries me. Do we know who might have sent her to Duncan? Or who her teacher is that is being so over protective? Apprenticeship is normally severed at the same time as the first neck unless there are extenuating circumstances. Duncan and extenuating circumstances never go well together.

> PS And there is something wrong with the pipes.

Then you better get it fixed. Really Joe, I shouldn't need to tell you these things. Didn't they cover this in barkeeping 101?

- Me

~ In dubiis non est agendum ~

(Response to Joe)

I just wanted to check whether I needed to get out of town.
> I didn’t think you need a reason for that.

I always have a reason. After all, why go to the effort of moving when it isn't necessary?

>>> Amanda is on one of her world famous walkabouts, you know the sort.
>> Wanted by the police again? Or is it the mob this time? What did the little minx try to steal?
> Both? – to be honest I am not sure what she is up to, sometimes it is better not to know with her.

There is nothing wrong with knowing - as long as you not feel a compulsive desire to envolve yourself. I guess in your case you are better off not knowing.

>>> Anyway, if you know it’s a new arrival he didn't keep that quiet did he!
>> Wow - whoever she is, is must be good.
>> Now try thinking. I know there was a new arrival because I was
>> there when we sensed her. Just because I didn't stick around to
>> watch you head up the welcoming committee, it doesn't mean I need
>> Joe to tell me you met one of us. So is it someone I might know?
> I meant that you knew it was someone new – forget it.

Consider it forgotten. Well, assuming Joe hasn't added this exchange to our respective chronicals.

> Knowing how much you like immortal company… no I don’t think you know her.

Ah, but do I know of her? That is a different question.

>> Her name is Rosetta Meidani, she is young (but then again we all are to you) 200 years give or take.

While not ancient, 200 years is hardly a child. It seems a coincidence that having decided to make her way in the world she makes it towards you.

>> She was looking for me (Your making that face aren’t you?)

I was just wondering if you actually took out advertising space.

>>Her teacher has become a little over protective.

I assume you believe this is more than simple student-teacher issues? Has she taken her first head?

>> You do realise that the computer randomly adds a signature at the bottom of each message,
>> don't you? You don't need to reply to it.

> *cough* yes of cause

Good. Because I would had to think you were trying to have a philisophical debate with my e-mail software.

> See you at Joe's

Not if I see you first ;-)

> Take care

It is one of my many missions in life.

- Me

~ O praeclarum custodem ovium lupum! ~

(Response to Duncan)

Not to Wes or to me. You gave up that title just like you gave us up…. Again.

I managed to catch your little bombshell before you dropped it on Wes. Haven’t decided if I’ll give it to him or not.

Fuck, Angel… don’t you think you hurt him enough? Leaving him high and dry when so much has happened to him? And then to come flat out and say you chose someone else… Okay, the Slayer, I get that… but fuck!

So, you just go on your merry little bug-thumping way… and don’t worry about Wes. I’ll take care of Wes. Keep him safe. Find him what he needs.

Got a few thoughts on that line already too. Dark hair and eyes… sweet mouth… and loyal. Loyal in a way that you seem to be unable to manage - not in the past and not now. So, don’t worry about it, Angelus…. Your boy isn’t going to worry about you.

<strike>Love,</strike>
<strike>Regards,</strike>
Fuck off,

Spike

I know you're mad. Hell, if it was me, I probably would be too, <strike>especially since Spike is a manipulative little bastard who can convince you right is wrong</strike> considering.

I know I could have come with you. But we've all spent so much time putting other things first. Important things, yeah, but -

I wanted to do the right thing. <strike>You used to think I was good at that</strike> You know, like I used to before, way back before I even came to LA? I wanted to be...puts other people first guy. Except to do that I had to be puts other people last guy as well, and - yeah.

I wanted to put Buffy first. Just once. To let her know I cared. That she mattered more than - yeah, okay, than you.

I used to give Darla still-beating hearts when I wanted to apologise. Guess I haven't changed much.

I'm sorry, Wes. I hurt you <strike>and I think maybe Spike too, but let's not</strike> to make someone else feel better.

Does the fact I know it count?

I promised I wouldn't make you choose. I meant it. That's why I've chosen for you.

<strike>If you meant what you said, about needing two people, not one...</strike>

<strike>Do you honestly think Spike will let anyone but me share </strike>

<strike>Who the hell else are you going to find who's willing to put up with this insane kink you</strike>

I worry you won't be able to find this third you need. I worry about what's going on.

I worry, OK? I always do. And I care, just...not like I should. That's why I stayed.

Call me. Please.

<strike>All my love</strike>

<strike>Love</strike>

<strike>God I hate fucking letters</strike>

Your friend,

Angel.

I just wanted to check whether I needed to get out of town.

>> Should I take the silence to mean that it was Amanda and she hasn't let you out of bed yet?

> Amanda is on one of her world famous walkabouts, you know the sort.

Wanted by the police again? Or is it the mob this time? What did the little minx try to steal?

> Wasn't aware that I was being quiet.

Duncan, you haven't been in Joe's for a week. If you weren't immortal I'd be worried you were going into DTs.

>> You will probably be pleased to hear that the Watchers have, as yet, not reported anything
>> about whatever happened after I left. Did you ask Joe to keep quiet about the latest arrival?
>> Do try and not get him into too much trouble if you can avoid it.

> No I didn’t ask Joe to keep quiet. I’d never ask him to do that.

Yes and Henry didn't ask his knights to do anything about Thomas Becket either.

> Anyway, if you know it’s a new arrival he didn't keep that quiet did he!

Wow - whoever she is, is must be good. Now try thinking. I know there was a new arrival because I was there when we sensed her. Just because I didn't stick around to watch you head up the welcoming committee, it doesn't mean I need Joe to tell me you met one of us. So is it someone I might know?

>> ~A verbera ad verbis~
> Well I won’t be throwing the first punch.

You do realise that the computer randomly adds a signature at the bottom of each message, don't you? You don't need to reply to it.

>Take care of youself.

Always.

Watch your head.

- Me

~~ ance jic3-a-ni cag4-ga-ni ra-ra ~~

(Response to Duncan)

I have no intention of ‘sorting out’ Spike for having what you seem to perceive as the temerity to question you, and you should know that.

We left you? Oh, please. Do me the favour of pretending that even if your synapses have ceased to fire, you at least believe mine still are. This was your choice, this was your decision. You made it clear that whether we liked it or not was irrelevant.

Well, the irrelevants are doing just fine without you, believe me. I miss what we could have had, yes, but I’m not stupid enough to confuse that with what is.

What I am amazed about is your utterly craven stupidity in copying an email to me that contained your original remarks. Did you expect to win a prize for such arrogance and such a display of complete lack of judgement?

For over a century, you’ve had one person you could rely on. Congratulations, Angel. Because I think you may finally have found the one way of alienating him.

Please don’t ever presume to judge him again. I’m really not going to be on your side over this.

If you want details of what’s happening, shake yourself out of your cowardice and try picking up the phone.

Just don’t expect anyone to coo at you down it.

- Wes.

It's driving me insane and I've got things to do here. You know. Saving the world things? The things you two just left me with?

Ok, sorry, I know. My choice, and my fault, and I get it, OK? I do. Just....please, make him leave me alone.

And...really? You do? I mean, I do, but that's...

I just....look, please tell me what's going on. Getting information from Spike is like a kind of Chinese water torture.

Angel.

> Spike,
That would be me, yeah.

> I know there had to be a reason for this mail, other than annoying the crap out of me,
> but I can’t think of it.

‘Course not. That would mean you’d be doing something other than brooding now, wouldn’t it?

> If you’re so damned contented, how come you need to tell me about it?

I *am* content. Wes, however, out of some fucked up sense of loyalty, or brief attack of insanity, seems ta miss you.

> How come you need to tell me anything at all, if you ‘know where you belong’?

Thought *you* knew too, but yeah, you proved me wrong there. Should know better, Never did have any staying power, did you?

> It’s just like every other time. You take whatever I’ve got that’s good, and wreck it.

You’re blaming your cock up on me? Typical.

I’m here. Where the bleedin’ hell are you? You wrecked this yerself

> What happens when you get bored this time, huh? You can’t just drop Wes and expect > him to be there in a hundred years. You don’t get that long to make amends. Believe
> me, I know.

Look, ya great lumbering Mick, which one of us has stuck around in the past… and which has buggered off at the first sign of things getting messy and personal?

> Think you can turn him and keep him? Got news for you, boy, you can’t. How do you > think I worked out there’s something wrong with him? It’s in his blood, Spike. You’re > out of your depth here.

Know I can’t turn him. Know all about his blood too, ya git. Was here when Wes talked to the Watcher, wasn’t I? Probably know more than you do.

And the hundred year thing? Doubt it will be something that will come up.

> And as for my decision not to come? I don’t have to explain myself to anyone, and
> especially not you. Unless you’re going to claim your track record is so much more
> stellar than mine, in which case you’re drunk, lying, and out of your fucking mind.

I try not ta base my future on the past. I can learn and move on. Can you say the same?

> Until you’ve got something useful to say - don’t bother me again.

Yeah, heard that bird sing so many times before… and then ya need me for something.

> A.

-- Spike

> A.

-- Spike

Coulda had Wes. Hell, coulda had me. Instead? You let the Slayer guilt trip you, again.

You're there, playing Dark Knight, with an extra helping of Brood... and I'm here, with Wes. I know who got the better end of this deal.

Yeah... I got Wes. All that warmth. All that energy. All of his creativity. And that extends outside of the bedroom too.

Been thinking it's almost wrong of me to keep all that to myself. Been thinking that we need a new third. Maybe Harris, even. At least he can make Wes smile.

Just stay in L.A., lounge by the pool, get a freakin' suntan.... please. I know where I belong, and I, unlike you, will stay there.

--S

What's it to you?

>Hardly a company jolly, you old fraud.

Says you. How much exactly did you lose at poker this time around?

>So we have a staff shortage and we're stretched a little thin - what else is new?

Your assignment taking up with an unknown Immortal. Right charlie you would look if you came back to find him a head shorter and posthumously wiser.

>Not to mention the trouble with the pipes.

I believe they now produce little blue pills for that type of trouble. Is that why you have been so grumpy lately? I do know a lovely young lady I could introduce you to if you thought it would help and your 'piping' was up to it, and if not, I'm sure she can be very creative.

>Heaven forbid the beer should be flat!

Well I need something to sustain me while Duncan sticks his neck out again. It would be disrespectful to drink to the child's memory with flat beer.

>There are more important things going on than the state of the bar's beer!

Like who is Duncan's latest limpet? And what does she want? So glad you noticed.

>I have got a stack of reading to do, and the last thing I need is you quoting Seneca at me. Unless there's something you want to tell me about you and him?

He was a boring fart. I think one of the worst punishments I ever had was being forced to listen to him speak.

>Oh, yes, while I remember. Yet.

That fills me with such reassurence.

>Anyhow, I brought you back half a dozen bottles of beer.
