Objectified
Objectified delves into the complex relationship people have with manufactured goods and the individuals who create them. It examines the designers behind everyday objects and how extensively these items are used in people’s daily lives. The film features designers from around the world, interviewed in cities such as Paris, Tokyo, London and New York. It also includes representatives from major manufacturing companies such as IDEO and Apple.
The documentary explores how the objects people surround themselves with can reveal their passions and values. Interviews with leading product designers from across the globe expand on the themes of creativity, sustainability and consumerism involved in the design process. These designers reinvent the way people live their daily lives. The average person uses hundreds of objects throughout the day, yet rarely considers who designed them. Can an object’s design affect lives positively or negatively? This in-depth examination of the manufacturing side of consumerism encourages viewers to see the objects around them in a new light.
