Custom Neighbourhoods

For a long time now, I've been considering making a custom made premade neighbourhood. I know it's a big project, and I don't know when/if I'll have time to get around to it any time soon, but it's definitely something I plan to cross off my Simmer card before I hang up my Plumbbob (which won't be any time soon, I promise.)

So this poll is to just gather some opinions on what people are likely to download. There's no point making a full Downtown if nobody would ever play it! If you'd be interested at all in playing any sort of custom made neighbourhood, please fill this out! If you'd only like to see one kind of neighbourhood, please just put "no" for all the other questions!

As always, leave any comments/suggestions/ideas/queries below.

I've decided to play Belladonna Cove in a rotation style; a week at a time (I have a mod to change the season length to 7 days) and in alphabetically order. Residential lots will be tackled before I start playing the family, and community lots will be made over as/when I see fit. So first up, it's the Baldwins.

Isabel is potty training their son, Marcus.

She's unemployed, but because Benjamin brings in the big bucks, Isabel can stay at home and raise the children.

Sofia has hopes of becoming a ballet dancer in the future; something her parents actively encourage!

GIRL FIGHT!!

Benjie and Izzy (as they call each other) still like to have a bit of fun!

Matching pink clothes all round.

"Someone pay attention to me, it's not all about Marcus!"

Wow, now that's a chin.

Ben makes friends with the neighbour across the hall.

"Yeah, I'm looking forward to the big renovation of the Cove..."

Oh, yeah... Izzy's pregnant!

Izzy adores cooking, but during the week she cooks simple, quick food to fuel her family. She's currently writing a cookery guide with some simple dishes.

The Gavigans pop by after school for a big water balloon fight.

Izzy doesn't seem to impressed with chess.

... she needs help.

A pleasant dinner mananges to get Sofia and Marcus a place in private school.

And as soon as the headmaster leaves, Izzy goes into labour.

It's a boy, called Milo.

Milo is one of the most chilled out Sim babies I've ever had.

Being a stay-at-home-mother is a lot easier with a maid.

I rolled to get these, and I'll keep doing so unless I really feel like a Sim should have certain attractions/aspirations.

I told you this girl had issues. There are at least 3 fights a day!

Sofia is looking rather wonderful as a teen.

The computer has been moved to Sof's room. She's got the most space thanks to her bunk bed.

Sofia is well on her way to become a ballerina with her new job in the Dancer career.

Sofia headed over to the arcade (yet to be made over!) to try and make a few teenage friends!

It seems Sofia has her mother's interest in chess.

But nothing cements a friendship like gossip.

Seriously? Give it a rest.

Birthday time for Milo. He's really been left on his own a lot as a baby, he's just so chilled.

Overachieving Sof is well on her way to getting a good few scholarships!

And Ben finally gets his first promotion of the week!

Sofia is the only one in the family with Mechanical skill, so she's left to unclog both the toilets (they clogged at exactly the same time!)

Well... that's ok, I guess.

And we'll finish with Marcus, because he's so cute and a bit odd looking.

'Hood Decision

I'm thinking about playing one of the default neighbourhoods from scratch; playing each family in rotation, trying out new storylines and just seeing what happens.

If I do decide to do this, what town should I go for? I can't decide whether to pick a tried and tested town like Pleasantview or Strangetown, or something a bit more unusual like Desiderata Valley or Belladonna Cove. Suggestions please and leave a comment with your reasons if you want!

Film 2013

On January 1st 2013, I decided New Year's Resolutions weren't for me. I'm not saying I'm perfect and there's nothing I need to change (far from it!) but I hate the whole cliché of a resolution and I know I'd just end up breaking it by January 2nd.

So I decided to do a challenge instead... It came to my attention over the Christmas period that I hadn't seen a great deal of the movies that my friends and family were talking about, and a few recent trips to the cinema (to see Skyfall and Jack Reacher) have really reawakened a love of film. As such, my challenge for 2013 is to watch at least 50 films I've never seen before. This includes new releases, cinema classics or just random films I find when channel hopping or checking out friends' DVD collections. As long as it's not something I've seen before, it's in.

This post will be updated throughout the year, with maybe a little review at the end of each month to check on my progress. If you've got any suggestions for films (old or new) I simply must watch, leave your suggestions here. Happy New Year!

Previously on The Greengrass Legacy, Hunter and Luna became teenagers. And a lot of eggplant juice was drunk!

Poor Fenrir, he's the only non-wolf in the family so he still actually uses his bed!

How the twins look de-wolfified!

Hunter goes to work - he's in the architecture career.

Fenrir gets his own plot in the greenhouse!

We're all very proud, dear!

I know this last update was rushed, but I'm desperate to pass this family on as I've had them for far too long now! I really wanted to get them all to teenagers at the very least - and I've got a lot of Uni work coming my way so it's best just to cut my losses and move on. I hope you've enjoyed reading my generation, and I look forward to seeing the heir in someone else's game!

Previously on The Greengrass Legacy, Briony and Charlie got married, and then she gave birth to little Fenrir, which caused Charlie to have a minor aspiration meltdown. Oh well.

Briony isn't getting any younger - neither are her kids! - but she's managing to keep the fun spirit that won her heirship!

The garden still requires a lot of work, but with a baby around the plants really have to take a back seat priority wise!

Briony and Charlie still find time for a little romance in the dead of night!

The Greengrass play tower attracts children from all over town; and makes Hunter and Luna very popular!

I love Eggplant juice. Heehee.

Time for Fenrir to grow up!

Previously on The Greengrass Legacy, Bri and Charlie's beautiful children - Hunter and Luna - left their diapers behind and became children. The gardening really took off and Briony made sure to wrap up in the winter to keep her bun nice and warm in its oven!

Even with the arrival of winter, I thought it was important to give my Sims some interesting outside stuff... The house is only so big, after all!

I refuse to apologise for the excitement I feel about these bunks beds.

Bless, Hunter tries his hardest but he just seems more awkward than his sister.

Best. Parents. Ever.

Peter still hasn't forgiven Bri for what happened, but gets her back each and every day...

... by stealing the newspaper nobody ever reads anyway. That'll show 'em!

This van scares the bajeesus out of me. Still, the Repo Man only took a clock so I didn't really mind (I am terrible at remember to pay Sim bills! It's never a question of lack of cash!)

Twins are just so adorable when they play together.

Mum and Dad need a little afternoon nap... They seem to run out of energy around 2pm after staying up all night!

The twins seem to manage fine by themselves... Their parents' attention seems to be split between the baby and their own lycanthropy. But the twins make it work and have a lot of fun!

Previously on The Greengrass Legacy, our wonderful werewolves Briony and Charlie brought their twins, Hunter and Luna into the world. They still didn't get married, and then Briony had to run and throw up... what on earth could that mean?

Seriously, I don't see why Sims think this is a good idea... I really don't.

With seemingly endless energy, Bri and Charlie are resorting to anything to do during the night time hours!

Get to work, parents!

Hunter and Luna are just like any other Sim toddlers; adorable, yes, but a little boring after a bit!

Still, Hunter may just be the next Picaso with work like that!

Don't mind mummy, just go to sleep.

I still think Charlie really suits lycanthropy. His feautres are so unique!

They make quite a team! Although Bri really should be wearing some warmer clothes!

Just to let you know, Hunter and Luna did learn pretty much all their skills... I just wanted to show off some adorable father/son bonding time!

Looks like Hunter learned to walk just in time!

Yep, the terrible twosome are now children... Which means school, homework, and a bit more freedom... I better start buying some playground equipment to tire them out keep them entertained!

Previously on the Greengrass Legacy, Briony got knocked up. That's pretty much it.

We start this update with quite possibly the most amazingly dressed townie that you'll ever have the pleasure of seeing.

Our adorable couple are enjoying the last few mornings of it being just the two of them...

Sorry, kid, your daddy's a dork/adorable.

Whatever he said must have made something happen inside! The baby is here!

Previously on the Greengrass Legacy, our heiress Briony had her boyfriend Charlie move in with her. She then subsequent wrestled and bit him until he was a werewolf. They then wrestled and bit each other until she was pregnant.

They are just so smitten, it's adorable. I don't normally get too invested in my Sims love lives, but I really love these two as a couple.

Bri is the breadwinner, so Charlie tries to keep the garden in check. It's autumn, after all, so there's always a load of leaves to be swept if the harvestable plants don't need tending to.

She's now level 5... that's not bad! Hopefully she can keep rising up the ladder once she has her children - Bri is an independent woman and desperately wants her career!

Although, right now, all she wants is to throw up.

Luckily Bri earns enough so Charlie can do this all day.

I still love these cinematics. 7 years on, they still make me smile.

They will have awesome babies.

After a busy night gardening, the Greengrasses finally use their bed for sleeping. Normally the energy boost keeps the fatigue away until they transform... Clearly they need a bit more practice sleeping for when they're parents!

As you may or may not know - depending on which circles you run in - I am currently playing the second generation of The Sim Circle's Round Robin Legacy. We're all given a month to complete our generation, and my month is nearly up and I've only just got the heir pregnant (in posted updates, that is, I have more pictures of further play stashed on my computer but not as much as I'd like!)
During this month, I've come back to University - which I've found really difficult after a long summer at home - and really haven't had time to play as much as I'd have liked. I'm definitely going to get all these updates posted - and soon - but I may just have to be a few days over my month allowance... I hope you understand (and that I don't set a precedent!) Thank you for being amazing, TSCers! Hopefully my updates are worth the wait.

Previously on the Greengrass Legacy, our heiress Briony became a werewolf, started climbing up the Business career ladder and started to get acquainted with a few gentlemen from the neighbourhood.

As Sim mornings often do, Briony starts by getting the paper and composting it immediately.

Oh, Briony...

Silly turns to serious, and Bri gets her business head on.

Well done, Bri! ¬¬

Still, she got promoted regardless... winning!

With a few thousand lying around, Briony bought herself this awesome orange car. She's never been one to steer clear of bright colours, after all!

I still love this animation!

He's Charlie, one of Briony's love interests from the first update... Well, things have got a little more serious between them.

Well, a lot more serious!

Luckily he doesn't mind the fur!

Stuck for something to do, Briony decided to put her compost to good use and start a small little allotment! Perhaps she could pick up another supernatural ability, and be rid of her lycanthropy!

This lady seems nice enough...

... if a little forward. Oh, well, what's the harm?

I like how it's an instant friend... that just saves her a load of time and it means she's promotion ready!

And again... Whoops.

Some crafty use of the Aspirationchangermajig means Briony is now a hopeless romantic...

... allowing her to charm her way back into Charlie's good graces!

Welcome to Generation 2 of the The Sim Circle's Round Robin Legacy! Hopefully you're already acquainted with our lovely heiress, Briony Greengrass, so let's jump right into her new life in her new town!

My generation challenge requires all the adults in the household to be a supernatural creature... Since I never play the occult Sims, I decided to go for something I've never even dabbled with... the weird and wonderful werewolf!

Scary, I think you'll agree! Werewolves come with an incredible rise in their energy level when they transform (what good is a nocturnal supernatural power if you go straight to bed?) and a crippling drop in hunger.

There's the energy...

... and there's the hunger!

Werewolves don't really need any sleep, if you can keep them fairly controlled during the night and they don't use too much energy, so it's straight of to work for Bri the next day!

Briony hired a gardener to sort out all the leaves that keep falling now autumn is here.

She seems to have taken quite a shine to him!

Oh, that's a shame! I never play Pleasure Sims, so this was a real novelty for me! It's money she didn't have, I suppose.

Bri tries to keep the gardener - Leo - on her good side. She's not super attracted to him, but she could do a lot worse!

She doesn't even have Pets or Supernatural... What a shame!

It was her day off, and there's not a lot else to do!

Bri tried chatting to the postman as well, but she didn't find him remotely attractive!

But then this lovely gentleman walked by, and tickled her fancy!

Yes for the folk song - another joy I've missed out on playing all my Family/Knowledge Sims!

Gossiping about a wolf? That's... odd!

A bit of mixed messages going on there, methinks!

Oh, dear, Bri... Not your finest hour!

Until the energy boost from the transformation comes... honestly, she hasn't even slept in her bed since she moved in! I'm envious of these werewolves... they can go so much done!

I present to you Three Lake's Smooth Rock Spa. I figured not many people would choose holiday lots for this dare - despite the fact that they all need improvement if I am ever going to send my Sims on holiday - and then this cute little spa seemed perfect. As I said over on Tumblr, I'm really proud of the landscaping on this lot - I've never been particularly good with terrain painting and flower/tree placement, and I feel this lot really helped me out.

None of the walls have been changed (in fact, a lot of the buildings haven't changed at all!) and I haven't tampered with ground elevations or anything; this really was just a makeover.

Sadly, this month I've been very busy with exams or making the most of the unbelievably nice weather, so I haven't had much time to Sim. I'd have loved to have done a much more elaborate entry, but I think these pictures of the Summerdream wedding are still sweet and pleasant in their own way. I especially love all the fireflies that the couple conjured for the occasion.

*sigh* I despise exams. Not only do they take up a load of time, but even once I’ve put down the books at the end of the day I’ve got no inclination to Sim… which is so disappointing! And the exams I really need to study for are spread out, right until my final exam so it’s not like I can ease up on the revision … although I do have a lovely period (24th May - 7th June) where I have no exams - so I am going to go home and make sure I have some fun and play the Sims! I need to make sure I at least get my maxis_taste dare done by the end of May!
