RedBall Express 2026: Snowdown’s High-Stakes Fundraiser

Roll into the excitement of Snowdown Durango 2026 with the RedBall Express on Friday, January 30, 2026, for a thrilling fundraising race hosted by the Rotary Clubs of La Plata County.

    What is the RedBall Express?

    The RedBall Express is a rip-roaring, high-energy fundraiser that has become a beloved part of the Snowdown Durango festival.

    Participants adopt two gigantic red balls for five bucks. The balls race down a specially designed course, powered only by gravity. The first two balls to cross the finish line win high-dollar cash prizes.

    Since its inception, the event has raised over $500,000 to support important causes, making it an essential part of Snowdown and a true testament to the power of community collaboration.

    Whether you’re there to adopt your own red balls, watch the excitement unfold, or simply support a great cause, the RedBall Express is an event you won’t want to miss!

    When and Where?

    • Date: Friday, January 30, 2026 
    • Adoption deadline: Balls must be adopted by 4:30 p.m.
    • Time: Live coverage on KPTE 92.9/107.9 The Point from 3 to 4:30 p.m., with Deakon and Jessi Kay emceeing from 4:30 until the event’s end. Balls roll at 5:15 p.m.
    • Location: 11th Street & 2nd Avenue in Downtown Durango before the Snowdown Light Parade.

    What Are the Event Details?

    1. Ball Race: Up to 160 balls will race down a fenced course using only gravity. 
    2. Entry Details: A maximum of 12,720 adoptions are available. Fill out and submit your entry form early to secure your spot.  
    3. Eligibility: You must be 18 or older to participate.
    4. Get a Free Ball: Attending a Rotary meeting (details at Snowdown.org) can get you one event entry.
    5. Winning Odds: With 100 balls in play, the odds are approximately 3 in 4,950 for winning one of the three prizes.  

    How Does the RedBall Express Work?

    For a $5 donation, participants can adopt as many sets of two red balls as they’d like, giving

    them a shot at these cash prizes:  

    • 1st Place: $5,000  
    • 2nd Place: $2,000  
    • 3rd Place: $1,000  

    Why Participate?

    All proceeds from the RedBall Express benefit local service projects and nonprofits in La Plata County, funding programs for those in need or at risk. Over the years, this event has raised more than $500,000 for community betterment.

    When are the Winners Announced?

    Winners will be announced at the race and online. In case of bad weather, winners will be selected through a computer-generated random drawing. Attendance is not required to claim prizes. Taxes and fees are the responsibility of the winners.
