Alan/Adil log

He could remember, even in the depths of the darkness that had taken control of his already feeble life... The days back then...

Adil saw himself, just a few months ago, running down the busy neighborhood, papers on his hand and a huge smile on his face. He was usually full of life and energy, but that day was a different story. On that day which he so vividly remembered...

The door few wide open as Adil ran into the small, cramped apartment, to the surprise to both his parents nearby. Not even bothering to catch his breath, he ran to them, exclaiming, "Father, mother! You will never believe what happened today!"

Adil's father put down his newspaper and raised an eyebrow. "Must've been something big for you to not close the door after you came in, Adil." His mother chuckled as she stopped setting the table to look at her son, who laughed sheepishly as he closed the door behind him.

"I know just how much getting a good education means to this family, so..." Adil set down the papers he was holding onto the table, so that they would be able to see the acceptance letter written on it. "...I've been accepted to Cairo University!"

The two adults looked at their son wide-eyed, their mouths gaped open in shock. Their shock soon turned into elation, and tears started to well up in their eyes. Adil's mother came up to embrace him, while his father jumped up in exhilaration.

"Oh Adil... Oh, my son! I knew it! I knew that you would be able to do it! Words cannot express just how proud I am! Adil... oh Adil!" His father soon joined in the embrace, and they cried tears of joy together, while praising their brilliant son. After they finally calmed down and wiped away the tears, the family gathered around the table as the mother passed out the food.

"I'll be starting in just a few months. Everything's been already paid, so you don't need to worry," he told his father as they started eating. Strange, his brother wasn't here today. He was always home around this time... "Father, where did brother go?"

"Oh, he didn't tell you? He's looking into a new house tonight."

This caused Adil to choke on his food. "A new house?! Doesn't he have to worry about his wedding?"

"Of course, but he claims that it's worth it." He stopped eating, and started to stroke his chin. Adil knew that he was thinking whenever he did that. After a few minutes of silence, he continued, "Well, now that I think about it, between your acceptance into Cairo University, his upcoming wedding, and the new house, I guess that we have nothing to worry about anymore! It seems that we all have a bright future ahead of us..."

His father's words still lingering in his mind, Adil opened his eyes just a little to let the light come in. Where was he now...?

Adil looked over his arm once more as he finished removing the bandages that he had applied himself. After a few near-death experiences that took place during his period of isolation, he had learned how to treat his own wounds manually. Besides, he hated hospitals anyway. The scent of death that lingered there was too much for Adil to handle.

"Well, I'm off. Good night, mother, father, brother."

The picture on the only table placed in the empty house was from only a few months ago, just a short time before his brother was finally married. That was the last time that he had ever seen them all together, just before he moved away to live near the university. He set the picture frame facedown and walked outside into the cold night air, closing the door behind him. With so many policemen and military units outside roaming the streets, he felt no need to lock the door.

As soon as he set his feet onto the dusty city streets, the usual mob of spirits flocked to him, calling out for vengeance. Adil nodded, then followed as the souls led the way.

Adil/Ilse log

It was like being a machine. Adil had no free will in the matter; he was just a servant obeying his master's bidding, the absolute command of his lord. And then, once his purpose was over, he will be discarded like trash. Useless in the end. He could see no happy end in his future; only more suffering and agony awaited him. The spirits will eventually devour him once his purpose ceased to exist.

He wouldn't have it any other way. When he finally dies, he will be able to see his family once more. They have never shown themselves to him ever since their own deaths...

Enough. There were things to do. Adil approached the station where Ilse Freidrich was about to arrive at. The spirits have shown him the way once more, and her trial was long overdue. Now, with her prosecutor following him, he waited for her to finally appear. The witnesses would have to be eliminated, of course. He summoned the hellbound angel once more to accomplish this task.

The hellfire within his veins flared up and destroyed everyone in the area, leaving blood splattered all over the walls. He gave no time to raise an alarm or to even let out a scream. All the people were slaughtered within an instant. He wiped the blood off his own clothes, then disengaged the spirit and walked up to the gate.

"Elijah. It's time."
