At the heart of the Endangered Writing Research Network is our Discord server, where many members come together virtually to discuss writing through text-based chat. We have numerous threads on all manner of topics, including:
- General writing systems discussion
- The nature of writing and areas of study
- Terminology
- Publications of interest
- Pictures shared by members
- Works in progress by members (a place for feedback)
- Events of interest including seminars and conferences
- Unicode
- Digitisation and typography
We also have channels for requests and for off-topic and fun items, plus an introductions channel where new members can tell us whatever they want to about themselves. We are all in different time zones, so some chat is more immediate but often it stretches out over days, and people are welcome to participate as much or as little as they want to.
The forum is not moderated and we expect discussion to operate on the basis of fairness, kindness and mutual respect on the part of members. Please bear this in mind when joining.
To join the Discord form, please send us an email to views@classics.cam.ac.uk (giving your name, location and briefly why you want to join). We will then send you the invite link.
