I was hoping that the accelerated growing lessons last year would have stuck with some of you, but they didn't. The pumpkins are just pitiful.

This is a reminder to all students that Herbology is a required class for years 1-5. Even if it's not your area of speciality, I expect to see you putting your all into homework and labs.

Those who are continuing in OWL and NEWT levels have a meeting with me the first morning of school. You should have already received your specialized equipment lists, but if you somehow haven't please contact me immediately.

This is, once again, a reminder that the greenhouses will not be providing any equipment that you should already own. Each level has their own supplies. Exceptions to this rule must have made arrangements with me before the exam itself.

One of the keys to Herbology is beforehand preparation; if you don't come with all of your equipment, or if equipment isn't in good shape, you will lose points.

We've been doing this all year; you guys should know this.

[If there was anything to be glad about, it was that the night had been uneventful. After Hilda had gone to bed late while he slept, Holland had been awake in the dark hours of the morning keeping watch. He'd purposefully kept the lights off, only using a flashlight when it was absolutely necessary. Over the windows that Nena had broken earlier, he'd tried to put some cardboard, pushing some bookshelves against them as well. It wasn't very safe here; maybe they should go to another house in the morning.

Maybe people would assume they weren't home.

Right.

So he rested in the armchair in the dark, rifle, the handgun and the hammer next to him. It was . . . he simply felt tired. Finding Hilbert dead on the route to school was pretty jarring to them both, and even though the kid wasn't really his son, he felt responsible for him and besides that, he liked Hilbert and Hilda. They were good kids and never gave him any kind of trouble.

He wouldn't let anything happen to Hilda; he wondered, too, where Japan and Spain were, where Lucas was, and Batgirl too, and hoped they were alright. He might have even wondered where Charles was. Maybe.

It was finally starting to get light, the faintest hints of sunrise spreading through the dark of the sky. Netherlands sighed, then checked the handgun again.]

[For the past several days, he's been rather dutiful at the pharmacy. Even though he didn't remember having worked here before, the other people there, particularly the drones, acted like he'd been there for years. Needless to say, it wasn't exactly the job he'd choose for himself. Still, it was somewhat interesting to have an actual job and go to it every day, like a human being would. But it was also with a resigned air that he went to work - complacency, just like Schuldig had said.

So if you're visiting the pharmacy, or work there yourself, feel free to engage Holland in some conversation or ask him for some help.]

[B: The flower shop, the hardware store]
[Netherlands has also grown mind-numbingly bored at home. Being that he spends most of his time outside, especially when Hilda and Hilbert weren't home and the only other person there was the drone, he's decided to make some improvements to his lawn. Starting with filling the flowerbed and possible creating a few new ones -- but that took plants. He's decided to make a calculated investment in a great deal of them.

If you work at the flower shop or in the hardware store, you'll see him browsing, and he might even have some questions for you if you ask.]

[He always rides his bike to work, so he doesn't have any way to carry all of his plants home. Holland has loaded the back of his bicycle with as many baskets of flowers and shrubs that he can comfortably ride with. He may break down and use the car to fetch the rest later, but so far he hasn't touched the vehicle in the garage.

[It begins. Not only has he dug up all of the flower beds in the front and back yards, but he's also dug out some of the grass to lay down new ones, laying topsoil, decorative stones, the works. The sidewalk in front of the house is littered with dirt and clumps of sod but don't worry! He hates messy gardens and he'll clean it up in no time. The entire front flowerbed is full of tulips; after all, ~~do other flowers even exist~~ it is that time of year.

And there's Netherlands, wearing the dated but comfortable clothing he'd found in the closet. He really needed to go shopping, because between the shorts (. . . were those pleats? Plaid pleats?) and the open blue button-down shirt (he's as pale as pale can be, too), he really looks the epitome of an enterprising and dutiful 50's family man enjoying some yardwork. The ugly brown rainboots he's used to complete the ensemble really don't make things better, either.

And he just didn't give a living care. They clothes were, after all, free.]

[Somebody forgot he signed up to chaperone on the field trip. After a long day yesterday, Thijs was high out of his skull until the wee hours of the morning. Naturally he didn't sleep at all, only to discover he did have somewhere to be in the morning.

All he really wants to do is pass out right now, so the field trip is bound to be a great time.

Students will just notice he seems unusually slow today, much grumpier, and can't seem to drink enough water or stop rubbing at his eyes. ]

In light of our headmaster's announcement, this is a reminder for all students.

[So after getting back late after the weekend with the other staff, Thijs doesn't really have a Happy Valentine's Day at all. The plants are much, much more aggressive today, and after both harassing and being harassed by them enough he's cancelling classes. A person can only cast so many charms to keep them at bay! It also doesn't help that the Tentaculas' idea of affection is about the same as an adolescent boy's, so they've been playing pranks, messing up the classrooms, and taking Thijs' things all day. They've also managed to get a good hold on most of the doors.]

There are NO Herbology classes today or for the rest of the week. Again, absolutely no Herbology classes, this applies to all years, all houses.

DO NOT come to the greenhouses or even be in the near vicinity.

I'm obliged to those who helped with the rabbits; they're all sound and the new hutch has been suitably charmed to prevent them chewing through again.

Keep forgetting they're so intelligent sometimes.

As it's Friday, this is also a reminder that there are classroom work hours, and the greenhouses will be open. I've already told you who you are so I expect those who need to make more effort to show up and improve their marks.

[Yes, Thijs here keeps rabbits in the greenhouses. They keep him company and eat a good amount of veg. But right now . . .well, he's quite a bit more upset than he lets on that they seem to be missing.]

I think the big orange ones -Aardappel and Pompoen- chewed the latch on the hutch. Both the big ones and the two small dwarf breeds; they're white.

[What's okay to mention around him/her] There honestly isn't much of anything here. He's pretty easy-going. Beware if you say things about his sis though, especially anything inappropriate or unkind. Otherwise not much is going to phase him. He will take off house points if he feels like someone is really pushing it, and he'll be very blunt and unsympathetic about it. You probably wouldn't even get a warning.
[Is there anything you need us to know about interacting with this character? Special physical features, special abilities, etc] He's a pretty regular half-blood. He's beyond advanced with any kind of magic involving plants and also very good at potions, which is why he's even at Hogwarts in the first place. Other than that he's tall and can look pretty intimidating even when he's relaxed.
[Can I hack that strike or otherwise find out information they'd prefer to keep hidden?] I don't mind silly replies to striked out text, but it won't be taken in context with the actual conversation. If it's hackable or non-filtered I'll say so.
[Can I troll/mindscrew/mess with in general?] Feel free! He's not easily bullied or pushed around, so I'd like to see someone try fff haha.
[Can I spit at/jinx/step on/etc? (i.e. fighting)] Rping fights and fighting is one of my absolute favorite things to do, but Thijs will usually avoid confrontation. Still, if it's threatening or sometimes even just mildly aggravating you'll hear it from him. Certain of his buttons are pretty easy to push sometimes. And if you threaten him or anyone he likes you'll get it; he does have a temper when the right subjects or issues come up and he feels punishing others for those issues is perfectly fair.
[Can I flirt with/hug/kiss/use other means of non-violent physical contact with this character?] Ahaha have fun being a bit awkward, but he's really a normal guy and doesn't have many hangups. He's on the reserved side so hugs from anybody other than his sister would be a little odd to him (even though he'd still probably like it, especially from a cute girl which would in turn set of alarm bells for him if she were really young and he'd probably get stand-offish or distance himself really fast). He's fine with intimacy as long if the right person comes around.

If your character isn't someone he gets along with too well you can expect things to be pretty chilly.

[Anything else?]I'm open to anything so don't ever hesitate to ask about things or plotting.

Also it's hard to tell when Thijs is feeling good-natured, but more often than not he is and isn't nearly as intimidating as he looks, so more often than not your character is totally fine to reply.
