There's a niche out there for art based on video games. Many times it's just recapturing a key moment from the game, sometimes it includes something a bit wittier. Art plays a large part in nostalgia for a game or its characters, it can also inspire change - a breaking of the mold a game has fallen into. And sometimes its none of the above, just wonderful to look at.
