A Merchant of Record (MoR) is the legal entity that sells your product to end customers. Vatly appears as the seller on every invoice, taking on responsibility for tax compliance, fraud liability, and payment processing. You maintain full control over your product, pricing, and customer relationships while we handle the legal and financial complexity of global sales.
We register for tax in jurisdictions where your customers are located. We automatically calculate the correct rate at checkout, collect the tax, file returns, and remit payments to tax authorities. We're starting with EU VAT (all 27 member states) and UK VAT, with US sales tax, Canadian GST/PST, and Australian GST on the roadmap.
Vatly settles your earnings on a regular schedule (weekly or monthly, your choice). We collect payments from your customers, deduct our fee and applicable taxes, and transfer the remainder directly to your bank account. You get detailed settlement reports breaking down every transaction, refund, and tax amount.
Yes. Vatly leverages Mollie's marketplace features. Your Mollie account is connected for KYC verification, payouts, and settlements. Payments flow through Vatly's Mollie setup, so you can continue using your own Mollie account as before for non-Vatly transactions and receiving your Vatly payouts. European payment methods like iDEAL, SEPA, and Bancontact are fully supported.
Three key differences. First, Vatly is EU-headquartered, meaning your data stays under EU jurisdiction and GDPR protection. Paddle is UK-based (post-Brexit), and Lemon Squeezy is owned by Stripe (US). Second, Vatly is powered by Mollie, giving you access to European-native payment methods. Third, we're built specifically for European SaaS businesses, not retrofitted from a US-first product.
