class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Introduction<\/h3><p>Before starting this tutorial you should have installed a copy of Change-Point Analyzer and have read Tutorial 1.\u00a0 This tutorial will walk you through the steps of using this software to analyze a dataset containing multiple observations per time period.\u00a0 We will be using the burst data contained in the file Burst.cpa.\u00a0 This file was copied to your hard drive when Change-Point Analyzer was installed.<\/p><h3>Burst Data<\/h3><p>Start Change-Point Analyzer.\u00a0 Open the file Burst.cpa.\u00a0 Your screen should appear as in Figure 1.\u00a0 The Data window contains three tabs corresponding to three sealing stations.\u00a0 Three samples were selected from each sealing station every half hour for 45 periods.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2293\" src=\"https:\/\/variation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/image002-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"623\" height=\"485\" srcset=\"https:\/\/variation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/image002-1.jpg Data<\/strong><\/p><h3>Fast Analysis<\/h3><p>Start by selecting the data to be analyzed.\u00a0 The data of interest is contained in columns B-D.\u00a0 To select these three columns, drag the mouse over their column headers.\u00a0 The exact steps are:<\/p><ol><li>Move the mouse cursor over the header for column B.<\/li><li>Press and hold down the left mouse button.<\/li><li>Move the mouse cursor across to the header for column D.<\/li><li>Release the left mouse button.<\/li><\/ol><p>The three columns should now be highlighted as in Figure 1.<\/p><p>Column A has already been selected for labels as shown in Tutorial 1.\u00a0 Perform a fast analysis by clicking on the Fast Analysis button\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2294\" src=\"https:\/\/variation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/image004-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"78\" height=\"18\" \/>\u00a0at the bottom of the Data window.\u00a0 As the analysis proceeds, the Analysis Status dialog box shown in Figure 2 is displayed.\u00a0 The purpose of this dialog box is to assure you that the analysis is progressing.\u00a0 Don\u2019t worry about understanding the status messages.\u00a0 Anything of importance will be displayed in the Analysis Results window once the analysis is completed.\u00a0 Analyses take from less than a second to several minutes depending on the speed of your machine and the amount of data you are analyzing.\u00a0 For the burst data, it should only take 2-5 seconds to complete the analysis.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2295\" src=\"https:\/\/variation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/image006-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"322\" height=\"167\" 100vw, 322px\" \/><br \/><strong>Figure 2:\u00a0 Analysis Status Dialog Box<\/strong><\/p><p>Change-Point Analyzer automatically checks for outliers and a violation of assumptions.\u00a0 If either is detected, a message appears describing the problem and recommending how to proceed.\u00a0 A custom analysis is required.\u00a0 Tutorial 4 describes the general procedure for performing custom analyses while Tutorials 5 and 6 describe how to handle outliers and a violation of assumptions.<\/p><h3>Interpreting the Results<\/h3><p>Once the analysis has been completed, the results are shown in the Analysis Results window shown in Figure 3.\u00a0 The results are displayed on 7 tabs.\u00a0 The interpretation of these tabs is explained in Tutorial 1.\u00a0 Only a few differences will be Tab 1<\/strong><\/p><p>When analyzing data with multiple observations per time period, Change-Point Analyzer calculates the average and standard deviation for each time period.\u00a0 Tabs 1-3 show the results of performing a change-point analysis on these averages.\u00a0 For example, Figure 3 shows Tab 1 contains a plot of the averages.\u00a0 Tabs 4-6 show the results of performing a change-point analysis on the standard deviations.\u00a0 Figure 4 shows Tab 4 contains a plot of the standard deviations.\u00a0 The control limits on these two plots (red lines) represent an\u00a0<img
