11:33 hackintosh up and running for about 45 minutes now with no lockups. Network's not working, but I think I'm just going to go buy a new NIC. #

Heroes and Customer Service

so I've been watching Heroes season one via Netflix's instant viewing thingy. I wish that it worked on the mac, but I can tolerate it being PC-only considering how freakin' convenient it is.

Anyway, I've got six episodes left, and I put on the next one. Watch the whole thing, and then at the end I click next to go to the next episode... except it tells me that it's no longer available. I go poke around and it turns out that none of Heroes season one is available for instant viewing anymore.

My first assumption was that I had hit some kind of limit. I haven't really paid much attention since they first started instant viewing, and back then you got something like one hour of viewing time per dollar you paid each month. I pay $17/mo, and I had just hit 17 hours of programming... but no, it's all unlimited now.

I couldn't really figure out what was going on, so I called their customer service line. I typed in the little code that the web page with the phone number told me to type in, and within a minute a nice, native english speaker answered.

I told him what had happened and he immediately said "ohhh yeah. We pulled season one of Heroes tonight because our contract for that particular season expired." He then went on to tell me that if you add things to your instant queue, it'll tell you how long you have to watch them. This took maybe two minutes total, he was very friendly and helpful, and it was altogether a great experience.

I just wish I could finish out the season without waiting for the DVDs :( I still love you though, Netflix.

I'm supposed to move in 8 days (the 30th is my scheduled last day) and I haven't found a place yet. Apparently there are only about five management companies in Portland that advertise on Craigslist.

I bumped my price range up by $400/mo and it didn't seem to make any difference. I don't want to live in a studio but it's starting to look like it might be my only choice.

This is making me so frustrated. I just want to give up.
