<lj-template lang="en_LJ" name="qotd">Not a fairy tale (I don't think...) but my answer will be Mulan anyway. I liked how she didn't wait around until her life happened. Oh and I liked how even if she was not your cookie-cutter female princess type lead, there was someone for her anyway (^^,)

My Vocab (last week) on Constant Loop

Last week, except for when I was speaking with colleagues - it seemed to me like my statements where confined to five sentences on perennial loop. And before I forget 'em, thought I'd put them down so I can go back to this entry and remember that once upon a time I found myself truly truly truly appreciating the profound influence of Meteor Garden (ha!) and/or watching foreign series with subtitles instead of the dubbed versions...

1. Xie Xie Ni - Thank You
2. Bu Yong Xie - No need (to thank) / It's nothing
3. Dui Bu Qi - I'm sorry
4. Wo Bu Zhi Dao - I don't know
5. Wo Bu Dong - I don't understand

Okay, come on - it's Zac Efron. And throw in the one who brought Chandler Bing - one of my fave male characters - alive! How could I not watch it?

It's was easy, relaxing and brainless viewing.

Sure I kinda wondered, will this kid ever star in a movie where he neither sings or plays basketball?

And sure I was wondering how many more times will they produce a highschool do-over flick...

But it was fun.

I laughed (okay, snorted at one point - sue me - stop laughing Bang!) and for a li'l bit before I had bury my head back to work - I got m'self a good bit of distraction...in the form of rippling biceps, veiny forearms and washboard abs. Yowza!

writing about one fine saturday

A HAT AND WIG PARTY.

I'm sorry what was that?

Yes, a hat and wig party! Cool cat Kathy celebrated her birthday this weekend where we all came in donning our preferred (or available) hair / head accessory. Just to summarize the fun and fantastic:

Our star of the night, Kathy had long curly brown locks. Very diva-esque. J.Lo? No - better. Rosalinda. G@gah! ;p Seriously, along with fab bling and lovely girly ensemble - she simply was a supahstah. (Happy birthday doll!)

Boom was in light floral dress and had gone from curly sue to goldilocks. Yes, she was blonde. Straight blonde. Very stepford wife minus the creepy robot eek! And from photos she was also methinks once again channeling the inner cheerleader.

Jay was our wee tinkerbell with her golden star-ishtudded wreath. Reminiscent of first holy communion head gear, Jay was such a good girl that she'd walked out of the cluster still wearing the precious diadem. Hayluvet! Kidney, kidney. It was really cute and could have nicked it if only Jay didn't need her "halo".

Bang shot out from a scene of Chicago that evening. But if she starts with the song and dance - very Debbie Gibson (Electric Dreams? ;p) In purple flapper dress, full-on pearl layers and felt MJ hat, she was a breath away from singing 'He had it coming....he had it coming...'

Nog was our beach babe in her summer halter dress and straw hat. Yes, she has taken the plunge (Brava girl! Am very proud chikka. Must share the gifts of nature I say)! But our resident girly girl looked fab and could someday give me a run for m'money ;p

And lastly, I was (expectedly) in pink (dress), plunging (errr...) and puti (hat) ;p Thank you to Mr. Thomson I was a cowgirl that evening. McLeod's Daughters statue?

It was fun fun and yes, more fun.

Here's to the next one chikkas!

writing about the week before i turn

I turn 27 next week and at the moment I'm deliberating if I turn back celebrate my 25th year on that day, which will continue for the next three years and then I go through the process of deliberation again.

Hmmm...a pickle indeed.

Typically when my birthday approaches, I go through a somewhat depressive patch. An existential crisis of sorts? (why am I here? what is my purpose in life? why am I still getting laugh lines when I've been so stressed?) Maybe not. I can't explain it but it usually happens.

I don't see this turning up this year though.

It could be the endorphins as a result of going back to actively exercising.

It could be the fact that am so busy that logically there wouldn't be an available time slot to be depressed.

Or it could be that really, i just feel incredibly...truly fortunate.

I saw a lot of changes this year.

Not just in my life.

Some of them happy.

Some of them sad.

But right now am smiling because they happened and i was somehow, at some point - part of it.

Hmmm...okay so maybe a bit existential then... ;p

writing about listening harder

I've liked this song the moment I heard it. Great melody, easy listening and hey, it's Rob Thomas. But today while I was working on a long-overdue manual, I plugged in my earphones and put it on.

And then the lyrics started to sink in.

Isn't it funny how sometimes you just listen harder and then everything comes out in an entirely different light?

I think I love this song even more so now.

Ever the Same

We were drawn from the weeds
We were brave like soldiers
Falling down under the pale moonlight
You were holding to me
Like a someone broken
And I couldn't tell you but I'm telling you now

Just let me hold you while you're falling apart
Just let me hold you so we both fall down

Fall on me
Tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you forever in me
Ever the same

We would stand in the wind
We were free like water
Flowing down
Under the warmth of the sun
Now it's cold and we're scared
And we've both been shaken
Look at us
Man, this doesn't need to be the end

Just let me hold you while you're falling apart
Just let me hold you so we both fall down

Fall on me tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same
Call on me
I'll be there for you and you'll be there for me
Forever it's you
Forever in me
Ever the same

You may need me there
To carry all your weight
But you're no burden I assure
You tide me over
With a warmth I'll not forget
But I can only give you love

writing about the sunset behind me

this is always going to be something with work I suppose. I have for the third time in the last six months, switched offices again. This time I'm at the seventh floor of our building, overlooking the property pool. It's a pretty ideal location actually. And I would enjoy the view if a few more hunka-burnin love residents would go swimming more often. It's very quiet up here (people who know me will understand that this can drive me up the wall sometimes as I need some noise to be able to function) and I'm seriously serioulsy still trying to adjust to it.

Come 3 o clock we have to shut the drapes because of the glare of the sun. It's pulled open again a little after five where we just manage to catch the sunset. Naks, dramatic. One thing I did notice since I moved to my new location is it's now very easy for me to get this unshakable itch to go home soon as the world outside gets dark.

It's...different.

Oh look, it's dark out.

Tah!

so i guess i'm weird eh

because after months of stressful simultaneous assignments

we're given three days to relax

and i was excruciatingly bored

i was watching dvds at my place which is something i would typically do for an entire weekend in laguna

but this time i was painfully aware of how bored i was

it's a good thing i met up with the girls sunday

really brightened up the long break

we went to podium, first spending hours at ucc and then walking around trying to find boots for katuts. we, of course, did not end up with the intended purchase. i got a jacket and k got new sunglasses. ha.

so generally it was good.

now if only i could figure out how to sleep like a normal human being again (i find myself waking up every 2, 4 and then 5 am) then everything should be good.

writing about the outback jacks

somewhere between the opening of our new property and my ongoing post rebranding work, ct and i made some new friends:

with beer o clock pals

apparently ct is long-lost twin of irish comedian jimeoin. this is him with his #1 fan club

at the outback, there's this thing called last-last-last. but really, it's not until 8 or so beers after that they stop drinking.

it's not always nights out...we saw 'em at one occasion when the sun was actually out. during this special breakfast, q boyz (what up) got a goodie bag of cocktail umbrellies and soap on a rope. long story kiddies. long but amusing story...

you know i reckon ct also looks like another celebrity...
yeah? who?

that's right, embrace reality... v(^o^)v

so this isn't the whole group actually. a bunch of them didn't make it on account of too many last-last-last...

one of the highlights of this is meeting the kids of one of them outback jacks. mmc has four girls. in the last two weeks of his post here, his wife and four adorable girls visited and we got had good fun... messing with mr. bean...

hanging out at time zone...

and making goofy faces

they're starting to go in batches and while it'll sad to see 'em go, i'll have a 12-step program and care packages of chicken salt and tim tams to look forward to.

I'm excited about my mini break to Cebu come Labor Day weekend.

I really...really...really need the break.

Pre-mini break though, I have the following to look forward to:

1. pasalubong from officemates. CT is heading to bangkok and ED is going to US. from BKK i have requested for my usual bath and body products (ie. dove and lux that are only in BKK), flip flops and a sarong. from US, i'm hoping for canned ravioli and microwave pie thingy. ha! i'm so easy.

2. company outings. not like i'm swimming or anything because seriously, i'm that tired and just that lazy, i just want to relax and hang out for a day. a work day at that. yahoo.

3. scrap book project. i have a new scrapbook project. no it's not my scrap book and i guess that's part of why i'm excited about it. it's to be given as a gift/token and i can't wait to get started. ooh, supposed creative juices flowing.

okay, this dork is going to park out before i end up gushing about totally silly things even more.

tah!

writing about meeting up with the chikkas

today was the belated birthday celebration of dear friend kathy at new place to be ... serendra.

le hangout? cupcakes by sonja.

desired victual? why cupcakes of course.

though only a few hours, it was such fun meeting up. such a welcome break from the stress attacks of project which will be officially turnover / launch in four days (knees banging in anxiety...)

there were more absentees than usual...which is why we had to make up for it with our object for the day with two rounds of snap shots. kathy to provide photo later on so visual aids to follow.

at first it was the fork and then the huge balls (giggle...) lying around the grounds of serendra.

so what did i learn from our brief catch up:

kathy - while on a business trip in famous land down under had welcome sight of men walking around in nothing but shorts and their backpacks.

bang - in the middle of her 'grey's anatomy' schedule has managed to squeeze in a social life which ahem, has potential. rock on sister.

noggie - although quite sickly is a happy bunny as tita is slated to come home in the coming week. griping though because of uneven haircut (layered, nyahaha) and made beeline for salon after.

see? fantastic afternoon really.

if i've been absent for such a long time i can only say this....

project! project! project!

we're counting down though.

it's just a little over twenty days before we finally open our new property in the cluster.

and then maybe then, hopefully i can sigh in quasi relief for being able to go through this without ending up as certifiably insane (okay, so that's subjective).

moving on to happier (high) notes, good friends of mine made the engagement announcement and now the panic begins because the groom to be has laid down the law - matataba = no photo. how cruel =( harumph. okay, fine, back to these futile attempts to lose weight again.

tonight is happy hour(s) night at casadefunfun. yey. always look forward to get-together and sound hours of sleep. hehe.

okay, i really should go and attend to my neglected laundry hamper.

this weekend was a juggling act between work and fully supporting a dear friend.

i spent two frenzied evenings screaming like a highschool groupie and waving my pom (i only had one metallic blue one) along with the blue bunch.

the finals was awesome. kind of like being in a uaap finals night (although i've never been to one of those)

to my vote for p.idol - you rocked and you're still p.idol in my book! naks.

happy monday!

writing about busy yet bored

been dying to blog but my whacked sleeping habit for this week and stress equals blah output from heated brain.

so i found this on a bulletin board care of a friend. might be fun.

Can you name 13 of your classmates that you can think of right off the top of your head. Don't read the questions underneath until you write the names of all 13 people. This is a lot funnier if you actually randomly list the names first. No cheating!

1. Gene
2. Jasmine
3. Kathy
4. Lynne
5. Clarissa
6. Ria
7. Carol
8. Nog
9. Pam
10. Korinna
11 M
12. Duckie
13. Jan

1.) How did you meet 10?
First day masters class - Comm. Teacher was late and we were standing outside of classroom waiting.

2.)What would you do if you had never met 1?
I would have to find another one to fight with from my highschool pals.

3.) What would you do if 6 and 2 dated?
Freak out. Yikes!

4.) Have you ever seen 4 cry?
Sure. Highschool - retreat every year. Everyone saw everyone cry.

5.)Do you think 10 is cute?
Yes. Purely hetero comment.

6.)How did you get to know 8?
Initially through another member of K9

7.)What's 7's Favorite color?
Probably pink. I dunno. She's one of the girly girls in our group.

8.)What would you do if 5 confessed he/she
She does. She better. Again, a hetero thing right there. Nyahaha.

9.)Fact about 9
She's a big hiphop junkie.

10.)Who is 4 going out with?
No one at the moment.

11.)who is number 5 to you?
The one who made our group wear green gowns, white bolero and hat. Plus dance during her debut. Friendship ito.

12.)Would you ever live with 13?
Why not? Although I'll probably drive him crazy since I'm a slob. Ang tanong eh, will he live with me? Nyahaha!

13.)Is 2 single?
Yes. Blue gals in my group are.

14.)Where does 7 live??
US.

15.)What do you think about 3?
Hilarious. Love her. She's one of the funniest, wittiest ever...

16.)What's the best thing about number 8?
She's such a magical and tremendous calming influence. She's very loyal and reliable.

17.)What do you like about number 11?
She can get away with almost anything.

18.)Favorite Memory with 2?
Retreat. She caused a momentary pause from our crying blues with her episode with very clean glass door.
