Spotify betrayed me
Autoplay can be cruel.
That One Song
Make the playlist
Delete the track
The one that makes your heart ache
The one you can’t move pastListen through
Sing along
Until it recommends to you
And autoplays that one song
Or if you’d prefer, my reading of That One Song
You ever have an album that is absolutely perfect in every way except one of the songs on their is so sad and heartbreaking you just can’t listen to it? That’s what The First Two Pages of Frankenstein by The National is for me.
There is one song on it, The Alcott featuring Taylor Swift, that I just can’t listen to anymore. It’s such a good song but it breaks my heart every time.
And so I created a playlist on Spotify of the entire album with that one song removed.
It was working until Spotify kept autoplaying The Alcott right after the last song. Like it was trying to be helpful and say “looks like you missed this one, here you go!” But instead it just made me sad.
Although I think I finally got it to stop. After clicking away from it so much Spotify finally got the hint.
Is that how Spotify actually works? I have no idea but in my heart it’s what I’m choosing to believe.
Thank you so much for reading In the Clouds! This is a personal outlet I created to nurture my own creativity and to connect with other artsy people out in the world.

I did that with a song - I had to manually click block or whatever the feature is that Spotify will skip that song no matter what. But then when I wanted to listen to it, I searched and had to go digging deep in the results to find it haha Perhaps the block worked too well.
Maybe one day, if I'm brave (or a masochist), I'll make a mega playlist of all my OUCH songs....
