Is it good to regret never being part of some kind of "underground" subculture when i was a teenager?
This is what i get for watching Hackers at 11:30 at night. I know hacking doesn't really work like that, and it's more solitary nerds in their bedrooms than super cool punks out on adventures, but you get where I'm coming from. I guess I've just always wanted to be a part of something. Especially something that "sticks it to the man".

Wanted

Just saw Wanted, so I'm going to try and review it while it's fresh in my mind.

First, wanted tells the story of Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy): your average 20-something cubicle slave living a perfectly average insignificant life until one night, an assassin named Fox (Angelina Jolie) shows up and tells him that his estranged father was part of a league of assassins known as The Fraternity, which is run by a man named Sloan (Morgan Freeman). Now, Wesley has to learn his late father's trade and take out the man who took his father out....ridiculous action ensues.

My verdict: it was decent. The movie took a few liberties with physics (such as curving a bullet's trajectory in order to hit your target around corners and stopping your opponent's bullet in mid-air by hitting it with one of your own), but that is not always a bad thing. For the most part, this movie wouldn't really be that interesting without it. Now that I think about it, the movie was just kind of an excuse to show a bunch of "mind bending" Matrix-esque effects. Of course, this is my opinion of the film while knowing nothing of the original work, a graphic novel (comic book for grown-ups) of the same name.

I think I need to start trying to draw again, start me up a webcomic and get internet famous, but....i can't do something just to get famous, that's the wrong reason to do anything, but I don't just naturally gravitate to doing awesome creative things. when people pick up drawing or an instrument or something, do they have to force themselves to keep going until they're good enough that it just comes natural? or is it just kinna natural from the get go and all you ever want to do is develop your skill cause it all just clicks together?

OK, so I'm hung up on "waaaa there's nothing I'm good at that really defines me, I have no super awesome skill" and I know I've been over this one a million times and it's annoyed many a person but ya know what? Last time I checked, no one was forcing you to read this.
Now that that is out of the way, I guess I just always felt like skill should feel kind of natural is a sense when developing it. Like, take learning a musical instrument for instance, you pick it up for the first time, its the most awkward thing it the world. Now I'm not saying Eddie Van Halen was shredding from day one, he had to practice his ass off. But I always thought you weren't supposed to mind the practice. and that you never really got frustrated cause for some reason it felt natural and everything just sort of clicked into place.
I guess it's really more of the determination thing than figuring out what types of skills you're geared for. And for some reason, I'm not really determined, I'm not really motivated. It seems like the thing I excel at is analyzing myself...and that's not really all that awesome. Maybe I should just quit IRC and most internet until I get so bored that I say "ya know what, I'm gonna go do <thing> and have that skill be my talent."
I'm also kind of eternally discouraged. I think "well, what if I try this, and buy into it and everything, but then I find out it's not my thing, there goes a bunch of wasted time, effort, and money."

That's all I really got for tonight, advice, hate mail, whatever you got is welcome. Tune in next time when I'll try and spackle over my character flaws.

Someone made actual Quiddich Rules

copy pasting this from a facebook event just so I won't lose it in case anyone wants to try playing:

Hey guys! so this is quiddich...minus flying. But it's still going to be pretty badass. Here's the deal (if you don't already know):

Each team has three chasers, which try to get the Quaffle (a volleyball) into one of three goals, worth 10 points per goal. The Keeper of each team is in charge of blocking the goals. Beaters run around throwing Bludgers (dodgeballs) at people, and if you're hit and you have the ball you have to drop it and run to your goal post before grabbing the quaffle agian. The Seeker's goal is to get the Snitch (a tennis ball) which is inside a sock and hanging out of the Snitch (the person). The side who's seeker gets the ball first gets 50 points and ends the game. In the tournement games, if the snitch isn't caught within 20 minutes we end the game and whoever has the most points wins. For the championship game, it can last up to 30 minutes if nobody can catch the snitch, at which point we'll end the game and whoever has the most points wins the tournement.
