Ikkicon from the casual observer
Friday:
Got there at about 3:00. Just kind of hung out. Sat through opening ceremonies which is something I never do at cons. Kind of neat, some lady (didn't catch her name) sang a Naruto song, it was pretty. then I hugged Mookie of Dominic Deegan without knowing it was him (I just thought hes was some comic guy who was trying to sell his book).
Saturday:
TOO MANY PEOPLE.
When you got in the hotel, you just kind of had to let yourself be eaten by the croud and then hope it shifted to the part of the con you wanted to go to. I went and saw Mookie's panel about making effective hearoes and villains, that was fun. hung out more. bought Mookie's book, now i'm hooked on Dom Deegan :P.
Sunday:
Not much really happened, I hung out as things were winding down and left at about 3:00.
Thoughts and Feelings:
1. first off, the hotel was in no way prepared for that many people. The officials didn't count on all of the Ushcon people coming to this because Ushicon isn't around anymore.
2. there was drama about an offical flipping out and yelling at the crowd, I choose not to obsess over it, so ask someone else about the details.
3. I think this was my last con for a while, not because "OMG THIS CON WAS SO HORRIBLE," I actually think things went fairly smoothly given the circumstances. Its just I've found myself becoming less interested in anime and stuff since A-kon 2006. I guess I'm just growing out of it
