Season Finale Discussion and what to do about this comm

Where does this leave your characters?

And now that the play along part is over where does that leave this game? I would like an idea of how many people would still like to take part and we can try to figure out how to best continue this community for those still interested in keeping the Legend of Korra RP going.

Republic City under Attack

Who: Everyone who is still active in the game.
What: Republic City is under Attack by the Equalist
Where: All over the city
When: During the Equalist attack on Republic City starting with the bombs going off.

OOC Ok this is a plot device where every character in Republic City who is still active in the game will need to respond. In the beginning of your comment mention where your character is when the city is attacked.

The sound of the first bomb to go off was quickly followed by a succession of other blasts that echoed through the city. Shadows of incoming airships darken the streets. These ships proudly display ominous Equalist propaganda, producing the desired effect of terrifying the city's bending residence.

News filters through the city that all the council have been captured (Even Tenzin the rumors say) and panic is already beginning to take the city when the air ships arrive and the bombs go off. The realization that Republic City is full under attack spreads through the entire metropolis. Sirens of police response teams fill the air with a cacophony of chaos.

I started crying real tears when that happened.
Also for our part in the play along the city is getting attacked so characters should all try to be involved in RP threads that interact with the attack, as this is something that will affect everyone's characters.

I'll try to post some threads as Vee and as UR Mods to get things going.

OOC: RP threads wanted and more advertising?

Hi community,
I'm posting this OOC thread to ask if there are any characters out there looking for a good RP thread to come into. I've initiated a few and they have yet to be responded to. If you have an idea for some story lines perhaps we can comment on this post and that way we can make RP threads that are receptive to other players.

Also I was wondering if we could post another round of advertising in the Korra and AtLA communities. I'd like to garner some new characters to take part and get this comm more active.

When Equalist attack the Flower shop, will anyone be there to help?

Disclaimer: So I got to watch the new episode a little bit ahead of schedule so if you haven't watched it yet, you may want to hold off RPing into this thread until after you watch the show so you don't get spoiled.

Also this is an action thread!

Who: Vee in her shop the night of the "round up"; Open to anyone in the neighborhood
What: Equalist attack
Where: Vee's Flower Shop
When: During the Black out

Vee sat up late in her shop scribbling notes into on parchment. The prospect of helping to write a play for Li-Hau's theater had inspired her to seek out all the available information she could find on Avatar Aang's quest to bring balance to the world with his non-bending allies, Sokka and Suki. For the past few days, she had been immersed in the literature on the subject as she researched the topic for Li-Hau's play. Her shop was had since become the headquarters of the local Unity movement and was littered with fliers and propaganda espousing bender-nonbender unity. With Lin-Bei Fong's resignation, Vee had become disturbed by the totalitarian turn that the government of Republic City had taken towards non-benders, and had decided to work closely with the Unity groups in the city rather than the Republic City task force proper.

She was deeply engrossed in a passage describing the Avatar's time in the Foggy Swamp tribe when suddenly the power shut off, leaving her in complete darkness.

Vee gasped at the suddenness of the black out and fumbled around for a candle to give her some light. "If only I could make some fire right now" she mumbled to herself. She paused to listen to the sounds of the city, and could hear people starting to make their way to the street in seeming confusion and distress about the sudden lose of power.

Suddenly, Vee felt something a jarring presence of a hostile entity near by, as the plants around her began to shift and move in response to its arrival. Vee had only a moment to squint into the darkness before hooded Chi benders crashed into her shop. One of them reached out a glowing electric glove pointed in Vee's direction in preparation to electrocute her when a vine snapped out the air to grasp the Chi bender's arm. Alarmed the other Chi bender turned to electrocute all the plant life on the shelf, sending particles of debris and plant matter into a scalding cloud in the air.

Turning toward their intended target again, the Chi benders moved in rapid graceful efficiency towards Vee. Vee ducked under the counter and releasing the water barrels she had purchased specifically for home defense, she bended the water into ice and sent several ice spikes hurling in the direction of her attackers. The Chi bender in front nimbly avoided the sharp ice shards, while the other was struck in the side, and released a startled cry that Vee immediately recognized as a woman. Un-phased by his partner's injuries the other Chi blocker move with alacrity to catapult over the counter before Vee could bend any more water to her defense.
Trapped and cornered, Vee screamed as the Chi blocker moved in close.

Things are Heating Up

Who: Li-Hua, open
What:

Cabbage Corp and Future Industries' Equalist ties, Lin's resignation

Where: Cricket Parlor
When:

The day after the raid on the Sato mansion.

Li-Hua curled her hands around her tea. The backlash from last night was still coming in over the radio, and, while she'd finally decided on the best course of action for her last night, she was still reeling from all the new information.

A voice crackled over the radio, breaking into the music.

"This just in! Lin Beifong, Chief of the Metalbending Police, has just handed in her official resignation to the Council. Neither the former Chief nor any Council member has released a statement yet, but we're hoping to hear from someone soon. Some career highlights for Chief Beifong include--"

Lin tuned out most of the rest of the announcement, but kept one ear on it in case someone actually did talk to a reporter today. She tightened her grip on her cup. More and more complications.

She needed to start putting feelers out, figuring out the logistics of her plan, and for that, she needed to cultivate friendships outside of her company--something she'd avoided as much as possible up until now, given the complications of her family life. She looked around, to see if anyone else was paying attention to the radio or looked friendly enough to approach and try a conversation with.

Republic City is at War

Who: Vee at the The Cricket Parlour and anyone else
What: Republic City at War
Where:The Cricket Parlour
When: The night after the Pro-bending finals and Amon's attack

Vee put down the paper, the headlines still causing her to visibly tremble. Republic City was at war. Amon's attack on the Pro-bending Finals left the city officials with not other choice. Vee wanted to talk to her family but she knew that the moment they heard the news they would want her to come back to the Foggy Swamp immediately. Despite all the terror in the city the Equalist had caused, Vee didn't want to leave. Her floral shop was starting to do very good business, and thanks to her connections with herbalist and other waterbender healers in the city, she had been afforded a measure of respect and tolerance even among the non-bending community. The threat that the Equalist posed was daunting and terrifying, but Vee felt that she had something to contribute and wanted to join the fight against these Equalist terrorists. There was an add to enlist as a healer and city supporter at the bottom of the newpaper that Vee had circled. She look around the shop from the local detective in this part of the city, Lt. Rika to see if she could talk to her about enlisting. Also she wanted to continue learning more offensive waterbending styles so she could put up a fight if needed, and classes were starting to pop up that specifically were geared towards benders fending off chi-blockers.

Vee took a sip of her tea and contemplated the events of the night before. She had managed to make friends with a fellow shop keeper and had spent the evening listening to the pro-bending finals on the radio. The Equalist attack had all been broadcasted right down to Amon's message to Equalize the city, and taking away the bending of the Wolf Bats. Listening to the crisis unfold on the radio had emboldened Vee to stay in the city despite the terrifying idea of having to go to war. If anything she represented the better part of bending. Her people were healers after all, and tended plants that could be further used to make other medicines. Benders had an important role to play and while there were benders who abused their powers, there were also benders who cared about the community and wanted to use their abilities for the greater good, and Vee knew that was part of the reason she had to join the cause.

Looking around the bar, she looked around for a familiar face that she could talk to about the events of the night before...

OOC: Who is still in the game?

So I'm wondering who all is still active in the game. I've initiated a couple of roleplaying threads that haven't been replied to. Plus we are about 2 episodes behind the series at this point. This game had a lot of great start up but it seems like the momentum is kind of trailing off. I still would like to interact with other players but I want to know who on the game is still active so that I'm not initiating threads that don't go any where.

Vee blunders into Kilaun's family Tea Shop

Who: Vee, anyone in Kilaun's Family Tea Shop
What: The Revelation
Where: Kilaun's Family's Tea Shop
When: Right after Vee finds out about Amon's spiritbending

Vee flung open the door of the tea shop where the one person she could count as a friend in the city lived and worked. The tiny bells that signaled a new arrival rang violently. The patrons in the bar turned to stare at her in alarm.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Vee looked down at her feet and tried to shuffle unobtrusively towards the back of the shop where she knew Kiluan was working. She had to tell someone what she had just found out. If the Equalist could take away anyone's bending, she knew that her and Kilaun could be in danger. Her eyes searched the back of the tea room scanning for her friend so she could tell him her troubled news.

Who: Rika, Open (especially to non-bending characters!)
What: What is the revelation?
Where: The neighbourhood; a public park?
When: The morning after Amon's demonstration

"What is the revelation?" She'd been asking the question of passing citizens at least as much as they'd asked her and the facts were still slow to come together. The police force were out of the loop on this one - probably just as Amon liked it. Usually how he got it, too. The metalbenders kept an eye on the equalist movement, sure, but an idle one. Of much more pressing concern was the brewing gang war that was supposed to come to a head the night before, yet never materialized. The equalists were responsible for that, somehow, that much they knew. The skinny from informants was Lightning Bolt Zolt had lost his lightning, thanks to Amon, but besides being hearsay, info like that got them no closer to the centre of the movement.

Not that anybody really knew how to get to the centre, so far.

And so, Rika was on a case with no leads. The best she could say was that she was on reasonably good terms with her block, but who knew if familiarity would be enough to get anyone to tell her what they knew, assuming she could find someone that knew anything at all.

"'Scuse me." She approached another familiar face in the park. "If I could have a moment of your time, I'm looking for information on the equalist movement."

Well, at least she might learn what people thought of the issue at street-level.

"He took away his bending?!"

Who: Vee
What: Triad Triple Threat boss having his bending taken away
Where: Vee's Flower shop, NPC named Sama
When: A week after Vee's last run in with the Triad and right after "the Revelation"
Open

Vee nervously sat at the counter to her flower shop watching the door. It had been a week since she had first been extorted by Triad members who had vowed to return. She was ready for them this time however. After watching a few lessons at the Northern Waterbending school, Vee had gotten rather skilled at freezing and thawing water, and had been practicing some of the techniques she gleaned. She had two open barrels of water behind her counter that she would use to both put out any fires and defend herself. She also had placed strategic plants around the shop to help her ensnare and entangle the intruders this time. She knew that what she was doing was foolish and she should just enlist the help of local police, but she was hoping that if she was to show how much trouble she was willing to put up, the Triad would decide it wasn't worth the cost of trying to extort her anymore and leave her alone.
Vee sat waiting and waiting, anxiety tearing her up like a thorny bush was growing through her chest.
"Well, Urb," she muttered to the large carnivorous plant in the corner. "I wish this show down would hurry up and happen, so one way or another this can be over".
The plant remained silent and unmoving, implacable to her comments.
Suddenly the bell that signaled someone was entering the shop rang, and Vee sat up alert and ready. A kindly older woman came into the shop, making Vee laugh with nervously.
"Oh hello, Mrs. Sama," Vee said her voice slightly cracking.
Mrs. Sama was an herbalist from down the street and had often come into Vee's shop since she'd open looking to buy different plants for remedies and herbs. She had been kind to Vee, not only in helping her get business, but also helping her to feel more welcome in Republic City.
"My Goodness" Sama replied. "You look like someone was ready to shoot you, dear girl! What's wrong?"
Taking a deep breath Vee blew it out slowly and looked up at Mrs. Sama, trying not to let her nervousness show.
"Oh...well it's that the Triad said they would be back to collect what I 'owe them', and I don't have the money..." Clenching her fist, Vee continued with more anger than she meant, "And further I'm not giving them any money cause thugs like that can't just come up in MY shop and tell me that I gotta pay. That just a'int right!" In the middle of her triad, Mrs. Sama began to laugh, which was perplexing and a bit frustrating to Vee.
"Why are you laughing?" Vee asked abruptly.
"Oh, I'm sorry dear. I didn't mean that I was laughing about you, it's just I don't think the Triad are going to be extorting money from anyone for a little while."
"Huh?"Vee exclaimed. "Why do you say that?"
"You didn't hear?" the old woman asked, then stopping, she muttered almost to herself, "No, I guess you wouldn't, being a bender...I mean I only heard about it because one of their wives came to me begging me to find them a cure, which normally I would have done so with out question..."
Vee stared at the old woman as she continued to mumble about the incident until finally her patience ran up. "What did they come asking you for a cure?" she asked.
Sama looked up at Vee, a deadly serious look in her eyes. "The leader of the Equalist movement took away their bending, even the Don, Zolt."
Vee looked astonished. "What?"
"Amon took their bending away. It was witnessed by a crowd of hundreds of people, including the Avatar. One of my students had gone and saw it happen. I didn't believe him at first, and then this frantic woman came to my shop wanting to know if I had any cures for someone who had their bending removed," Sama explained.
"But how? How did this Amon take away their bending?" Vee asked, her voice filled with trepidation.
"I don't know", Sama replied with more tenderness in her tone this time, recognizing how upsetting this news must be for a bender.
"I know that Avatar Aang gained the power form the most ancient spirits, and used to to take away Fire Lord Ozai's power, but I didn't think anyone else but the Avatar could learn that." Sama picked up a few flowers from a nearby basket placed them on the table and fished out 5 yuan to pay for them. "I think this is all I will be needing today, dear. Look on the bright side, at least you won't have to pay those thugs any sort of extortion money now." She smiled kindly then took her leave.
Vee sat still astounded by the news she had just heard. She had to talk to someone, she had to find out if this was true. Grabbing her coat and hat, she walked out to the door .
"Urb! Watch the shop, I'm going down to the tea shop down the road, I'll be back"

Certainly, hushed murmurs traveled around the arena like wild fire, and everyone seemed to have an opinion.

Northern Waters Bending School

Who: Seisen; Open to any- water bender or no
What: Just any shenanigans that may happen during a lesson
Where: Right in Seisen's School
When: Morning after Korra's Arrival

Seisen gave a low yawn as he finished eating his meal; the man still not completely awake yet. "Hngh...what a night," he murmured, staring out the window as he sat at the kitchen table. Avatar Korra had arrived in Republic City. That alone had been exceedingly obvious, given the radio broadcast. But what Seisen hadn't counted on was the people outside talking about it all night long. The bedroom was streetside, and that caused any and all talk to come right into his ears...and kept him up all night.

"Still not awake yet, Seisen?" he heard his wife call from the next room over. "You know your class starts in fifteen, right?" she inquired, and the man gave a slight grunt.

He stood up, shaking his head, trying to clear away the sleep fog. "Yeah. I should be all right. Even if I'm off my game, I'll just blame it on Avatar Korra," he said before letting out a laugh, before he gestured with a hand, pulling up some water to clean his plate with before he set it on the counter to dry. "I'm sure everyone was up all night talking about it, not just the neighbors," he added, before he willed a great bit of water forward, pulling it up to surround his body, save his hands. He took a deep breath, clenching his jaw before he closed his hands, the water around him turning to ice.

Immediately, frozen shock shot through his body and he opened his hands, letting the ice reduce to water before he swept it all off of him, letting it funnel down the drain. He glanced over to see his wife giving him something akin to a death glare. "I was just trying to wake up a bit," he explained, before the stone floor beneath him shifted, causing him to stumble, landing on his backside on the ground. He blinked once, before bursting into laughter.

"Try not to freeze yourself in blocks of ice when I'm around, you dolt." The woman gave an exasperated sigh before moving back to what she was doing moments prior.

Seisen stood, cracking his neck before he moved out into the front room, where a few of his students had already gathered. "All right, everyone. Get yourselves ready; practice is going to begin soon," he announced, the water benders in the room looking quite excited; more than likely about the new Avatar. The man rubbed his chin; he wondered just what she would do while here...the thought line trailed off and he shook his head. It was time for the lesson.

Who: Sialuk and Open to All
What: It's always debate-o-clock at the Park.
Where: The Hyde Park-esque Speaker's Corner in City Park.
When: Daytime. Between Korra's arrival and her pro-bending debut. (Between Episodes 1 and 2.)

Sialuk had been out shopping for groceries; the weather was nice, and she'd taken a walk through the park with her basket of dinner ingredients (and more snack foods than were probably strictly necessary). (Look, it wasn't her fault that there were a lot of delicious food stands on her way to and from the market stalls she actually needed to visit, or slightly nearby. Or that one that was really out of the way but sold the most divine pork buns...)

She could remember times when the park had been quiet and peaceful, except for the ruckus over fishing that was occasionally raised, but now it felt like you couldn't ever walk around without hearing the rumble and cheer and distant noise of the crowd. These days, the corner of the park where people gathered to debate city policy was always abuzz, and it seemed to be always talking about Benders and Equalists. Some kind of rally or argument seemed to be going on even now, as she approached; she stopped on the outskirts of the crowd.

She wasn't invested, or interested, quite, but it was still nice weather and it was more amusing than listening to her brother's students bending or trying to drum up her team for extra practice. So she took a peek around at the other people on the edge of the crowd, while the man on stage with the bullhorn hollered something about fairness.

Hundreds of sheets of flimsy repurposed newsprint, each covered in the same handwritten text, were being handed out and liberally tossed into any passing crowd of people by the brothers Yama and Huan. Even more had been carelessly nailed to telephone poles, fences, and the sides of unfortunate buildings.

Each sheet said:

LIVE AT THE UNDERTOW
Looking for a good time? Good drinks? Good music? GREAT music? You're in luck, because tomorrow night the phenomenal Yama and the Benders is jazzing up Republic City's very own Undertow! Bring your husband, bring your wife, bring your friends, bring your platypus bear, even bring that aunt you hate, because they'll all be tapping their feet in time with drummer Malo's smooth beats! They'll fall in love with Eun's sweet, sweet singing voice before Yama's work with the sax sweeps them off their feet! Huan plays the bass.
ONE NIGHT ONLY, TICKETS ON SALE AT THE DOOR

Yama laughed and smiled as he handed out flier after flier.

"See, Huan, I knew this would get the band more attention! The joint is going to be packed tighter than a can of sharkdines, just you watch."

His younger brother adjusted his glasses and looked away irritably before tossing a handful of fliers into the street a little harder than was necessary.

OOC: Character Connections

We're putting forth this idea to push character connection and ideas/reasons/excuses for threads: Who is in favor of coming up with something all of the characters have in common, that connects them and explains why they keep running into each other? Something like...

- They mostly live in the same neighborhood or on the same block. Maybe the richer characters own property than poorer characters rent, or have businesses or charities there? The Pro-benders could practice at a gym in the area, etc.
- They're all regulars at a bar, restaurant, or other recreational place (The Cricket Parlour was suggested?).
- They all do their laundry at the same laundromat/some equally trivial daily-life aspect that's a bit more true to the LoK setting, perhaps.

Feel free to suggest your own ideas, possible changes to these ideas, or contribute how your character might be involved in one or more of these ideas. (In addition, you're welcome to use this post as a space to plot additional character connections!)

Vee's Floral Shop opens for business

Who: Vee, Triad Thugs who come to extort her for money, anyone else wants to join the thread
What: Crime in the neighborhood
Where: Vee's Flower shop across from the Cricket Parlor
When: During Korra's Arrival speech

The speaker box was set to the highest volume so Vee could hear the Avatar's arrival speech as she finished unpacking the front of her shop. She was nearly finished by this point but had the door propped open to admit any early customers who may be curious about the new flower shop that was opening. Carrying a tray of fire clover to the front room, she paused a moment to listen to the Avatar speak.
"This is just so exciting, Urb!" she exclaimed to what seemed to be a large strange plant in the corner with a strange gaping maw of teeth. As if in response to her voice the strange plant quivered and flicked a vine that was curled around its pot.
Vee placed the tray down on the counter and proceeded to listen attentively with her head in her hands to the Avatar's awkward but sincere speech on the radio when three men approached the shop. Vee took notice of them, and looked up with a smile automatically, turning off the radio.
"Hi! Welcome to my flower shop! Is there anything I can help you find?" she asked with more trepidation than she meant to show as she took the measure of the men coming to her shop.
The smaller of the men, a tall thin man with combed over black hair in a suit that accentuated his angular features tightly smiled back at her.
"Greetings, We're here to welcome you to the neighborhood. May name is Tsingu and these are my associations, Long and Toko." He indicated first in the direction of a burly menacing man who wearing a tight stained shirt and suspenders with a grimace on his face, then to a lankier man with pinched features carrying a sling of water wearing waterbender like attire.
"As it would happen," Tsingu drawled on "We'd like to extend our protections services to you, so that you can be protected in the event of a untimely accident should occur..."
"Services?" Vee asked. Rubbing the back of her neck in a gesture of nervousness, Vee considered the men and frowned. "I'm sorry, but I don't need any protection services. The police of Republic City I hear do quite a good job"
"Oh?" Tsingu asked in a dangerous tone. "Unfortunately they are never around when you need them..."
Suddenly the flower shop began to shake with flower pots tumbling to the ground as Long took an earthbending stance, causing the ground to shake and uproot the plants Vee had already painstakingly established. A loud crash could be heard, and then a loud squealing thunk as the radio Vee first purchased when she got to the city smashed to the ground.
Vee rushed to catch one of the nearer flowers preparing to crash to the ground, when the disturbance stopped. She turned around angry to face Tsingu, who had conjured a flame in his hands. "Listen I wanted to try to do this the civil way, but you look like you may be a little slow on the uptake, Swamp girl, so let me spell it out to you: We are here to collect a fee from you every month at this time, or Long here is going to shake your shop apart. And it would be a pity if there was to be a fire that destroyed all your lovely plants."
Vee glared, but fearing the retribution of her entire flower shop burning to the ground she went to the back to fumble out the last few remaining bit of coins she had to her name She slammed then down on the counter in front of Tsingu.
"Here!" she exclaimed angrily. "Now that is all I have. "
Tsingu picked up the coins, and smiled his greasy smile, which Vee now noticed consisted of a considerable number of golden teeth. "Since you're new here I'll let you get off easy this time. Next month we'll be back for twice this much..." He sauntered to catch up with his two compatriots as Vee angrily watched them leave. She considered using her bending to call up the fury of all her plants to entangle and tear these thugs apart, but felt fearful at what sort of retribution this could possibly lead to. She knew that now was not the time to stand up for herself, but as she watched the Triad members leave with the last few coins she had to had to her name, she knew it was a matter of time before such an altercation would have to happen.

OOC: I wasn't sure where other people would want to break into this thread, if they would hear the disturbance and come to see or what. Also I didn't think it was quite ok to start a brawl, so I just wanted to introduce Vee's shop and give her a reason to go to the Cricket Parlor across the street if anything then to hear the radio.

Who: Artok, OPEN
What: The bar.
Where: The Undertow.
When: The night of Korra's speech.
Music: Morphine

It was a low and long building of attractive make, and stood out amongst its brothers: a shady and somber bar with a smoldering neon sign surmounting the two massive black-stained entrance doors, and a lush red carpet lolling out from underneath like a bloody tongue. Occasionally those two big doors cracked open and someone slipped in or out to get eyed by the blade-slender twins stationed outside, and the gentle amber light and smoky jazz that suffused the bar flowed out into the dark streets for a brief moment.

The inside was furnished handsomely, an ode to sin and guilty pleasures, with dark mahogany and tarnished brass everywhere; the stools and booths were all deeply cushioned and creased, their leather old but well cared for, and the air was redolent of smoke, grease, and spices. A corner of the room sloped up to make a small stage, and musicians could be found rotating off and on, with two luxurious pool tables sat side by side nearby, but the most prominent feature in the room was the bar and the man standing behind it.

Artok owned The Undertow, and he could sometimes be found behind the countertop, serving up drinks with a practiced hand and shooting the breeze with the clients. He was a massive man, with the build and temperament of a bear, a personification of the joint, and a renowned triad boss. He wore a smart black suit, and a hat was cocked back on his head. The place was shady enough, but he pushed it screaming over into criminal territory.

“So what’s your poison?” He asked with a soft and crooked smile, one corner of his mouth tugged up just enough to show off the gleam of his teeth.

Open Post: The Cricket Parlour

Who: Rika; OPEN (Sialuk, Jing, Maryam, Jin Kai)
What: Listening to the radio
Where: All ages hangout spot, The Cricket Parlour
When: During Korra's arrival speech

Rika looked around from the shadow of the brim of her hat. She had ducked into an all-ages joint, old and cozy. Popular from the looks of it, too. The Cricket Parlour had a piecemeal sort of feel to it, like someone had started out making a tea shop and changed their mind along the way. There a few radios, with people gathered around them, some listening to the news about the Avatar and others engrossed in the blow-by-blow of the latest pro-bending match.

Rika was in the first group.

The squawk box buzzed with the crackling voice of the awkward 16-year-old Avatar, and Rika's eyes narrowed. Of course, the kid had no details on what she was doing in Republic City. Rika would be more inclined to forgive Korra her ignorance of the social climate if she hadn't spent her afternoon trying to squeeze some info out of triads beat too silly to talk. Then there was the property damage paperwork. One big distraction, all because the White Lotus decided to relocate the Avatar and rattle some anti-bending cages - at least, that was Rika's take on the situation.

She took a swig of her liechi juice and glanced at the person on the barstool next to her, making small talk.

"Plenty of things going on these days, eh, stranger?"
