Hubs & docking
-
What is the difference between a hub and a docking station?
When you purchase a docking station from us, a power adapter/charger is included, allowing your device to charge while connected to the docking station.
When you purchase a USB-C hub, no charger is included — you are only buying the hub itself. However, with Unisynk hubs, you can connect any USB-C charger of your choice, meaning you only need to connect a single cable to your laptop for a complete docking solution. -
How do I know which hub is right for me?
We recommend starting with the type of device you use (PC, Mac, smartphone/tablet) and how many external displays you want to connect. From there, consider which additional accessories you want to connect to determine how many ports you need. Feel free to use our hub guide to find out which model best suits you and your needs. -
Can I use your hubs with MacBook?
These Unisynk hubs are compatible with Mac computers:
3-port USB-C Hub V2
4-port USB-C Hub V3
5-port USB-C Hub 8KPRO
8-port USB-C Hub V2
8-port USB-C Hub V3
10-port USB-C Hub for Dual Displays for Mac
Some MacBook models have limitations regarding how many external displays can be used in extended desktop mode. Read more here. -
Do I need to install any drivers to use your hubs?
No, all of our hubs and docking stations are plug-and-play, meaning you do not need to install any drivers. Simply connect your device and you are ready to get started.
In addition to providing a quick setup experience, driver-free solutions are preferred from both a security and stability perspective. They reduce the risk of compatibility issues during system updates, require no administrator privileges, and limit the amount of third-party software installed on the system — something particularly important in business environments with high security requirements. Docking stations without plug-and-play support can also make your computer up to 30% slower.
The only requirement for using our hubs and docking stations is that your computer has a USB-C port with video support (DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt). Most modern laptops support video over USB-C, but some older or entry-level models do not.
To check whether your USB-C port supports video, you can:- Look for a lightning bolt symbol (Thunderbolt) next to the port
- Check your computer’s technical specifications

How do I connect external displays?
You can connect an external display by connecting an HDMI cable between the HDMI port on your Unisynk hub and the HDMI port on your external display. If the hub has two HDMI ports, you can connect a second external display in the same way*. If the hub includes a DisplayPort port, you can also connect an external display using a DisplayPort cable.
The USB-C ports on the hub are intended for data transfer and charging your device, not for connecting external displays. The USB-C port intended for charging is labeled “USB-C PD” (PD stands for Power Delivery).
*Please note that some MacBook models have limitations regarding how many external displays can be used in extended desktop mode. Read more here. -
How do I connect three external displays?
It is possible to connect up to three external displays using our 10-port USB-C Hub V3, provided your laptop supports it. Connect the displays using the two HDMI ports and the DisplayPort port on the hub with two HDMI cables and one DisplayPort cable respectively.
To verify whether your laptop supports three external displays, please check your laptop’s specifications. You can find the specifications either in your computer settings or by contacting the computer manufacturer. If your laptop supports three external displays, it should state “Supports up to 3 external displays,” or something similar.

I need help with the HDMI connection
If you are experiencing issues with the HDMI connection or connecting external displays — for example, if the image flickers, does not appear at all, or if you experience other disruptions — we recommend going through the following steps:- Verify that your USB-C port supports video. Ensure that your laptop’s USB-C port supports video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode). Check your computer’s specifications or contact the manufacturer to confirm that the USB-C port supports DP Alt Mode.
- Clean the USB-C port. Dust or debris inside the USB-C port on your computer may affect the connection. Use compressed air to carefully clean the port.
- Connect a USB-C PD charger directly to the hub. Connect a USB-C PD charger directly to the hub’s USB-C PD port. In some cases, the computer may not supply enough power to the hub, which can affect the HDMI connection, especially when multiple accessories are connected. When you connect a PD charger directly to the hub, a new negotiation takes place between the computer and the hub regarding, among other things, how much power (W) should be delivered.
- Restart your computer completely. Shut down your computer completely (not sleep mode). Disconnect the hub and any charger. Wait five minutes before reconnecting the hub and charger. Then restart your computer. This forces the operating system to reload the drivers, which may sometimes have been loaded incorrectly.
- Update your operating system and drivers. Make sure your operating system (e.g., Windows or macOS) is fully updated. Also run the computer manufacturer’s own update utility (e.g., Lenovo Vantage), which is usually available through the manufacturer’s support page.
- Additional support for the 10-port hub (excluding V3). If you are experiencing HDMI issues with your Unisynk 10-port hub (excluding V3) and have completed all the steps above, click here for further instructions.
If this resolves the HDMI issue, it may strongly indicate that your computer’s BIOS/UEFI needs to be updated. Please contact our support team using the form below and we will guide you further.
Please note: For this to work, your computer’s USB-C port must support Power Delivery (PD). Contact your computer manufacturer if you are unsure. -

I need a longer cable / my cable is damaged
Our V3 hubs come with a detachable USB-C to USB-C cable, making it easy to replace it with a longer cable or swap it out if it becomes damaged. Please note that the new cable must support USB 3.1 10 Gbps (or higher) to ensure full functionality and performance.
For our older hubs, we recommend using an extension cable, such as our USB-C extension cable.
If your cable has been damaged within the warranty period, you are very welcome to contact our support team and we will assist you further.
