In the first week of July (2nd – 6th), the Library Research Services Team are holding a series of events with the aim of showcasing the support we provide to researchers when you’re writing, publishing, archiving, or analysing the success of your research publications. Before the week kicks off, we thought we’d introduce ourselves!
Meet the Team
The team has a wealth of knowledge and experience and are here to help you at any stage of the research publications lifecycle. Kara Jones is Head of Library Research Services and can be contacted on K.L.Jones@bath.ac.uk or 01225 384897.
Want to know how to analyse your publication metrics?
Katie Evans is our Research Analytics Librarian and is happy to advise on using publications, citations and collaborations data to:
- evidence your research strengths
- monitor and benchmark the research profile and performance of your research group, Department, or School
- explore a research field: identify key institutions, researchers and journals
- explore collaboration networks
She can also provide tailor made reports to support University activities. Katie advocates for responsible metrics, an approach which is in line with the University of Bath’s Principles of research assessment and management.
Katie can be contacted on K.T.Evans@bath.ac.uk or 01225 384488.
Need to find out whether you can make your paper open access?
Whether you want to find out if there’s funding available to pay for your paper to become open access, or need advice on whether uploading a paper in Pure complies with your publisher’s self-deposit policy, our Open Access Team can help.
Our Scholarly Communications Librarian, Dr Hannah DeGroff, can also offer advice and guidance when it comes to meeting your funder open access policy, or seeing whether your output fulfils REF requirements.
Hannah can be contacted on H.J.DeGroff@bath.ac.uk or 01225 385114.
And our Open Access Team, Katy Jordan, Nickie Williams, and Claire Drake are here to make sure your research outputs are deposited correctly in Pure and display properly in the Research Portal.
If you have any questions about managing research outputs in Pure then please contact: openaccess@bath.ac.uk.

Looking for unique research collections as source material for your writing or teaching?
The Library manages and maintains a range of unique and richly diverse material, including rare books, archival resources, historical records and specialist publications, in support of the University’s learning, teaching and research activities, and those of the wider academic community. The collections comprise both material created within the University, documenting institutional history, and material, donated or deposited by external individuals and organisations, relating more broadly to the University’s origins, development and interests.
If you have any questions about how you could make use of these resources in your own research or teaching then please get in touch with Lizzie Richmond, University Archivist. Lizzie can be contacted on E.Richmond@bath.ac.uk or 01225 383464.
Of particular interest to many might be the Wikipedia edit-a-thon (3rd July) which is being organised by Lizzie in collaboration with the GW4 Consortium. Attendees will learn the basic skills to edit Wikipedia entries. The theme is ‘Women in Sport’ however the session is suitable to anyone who has an interest in the digital sharing of knowledge, and might benefit researcher who are keen to edit Wiki entries either about their research or affiliated research networks or groups.
For any questions about Library Research Services week please contact Hannah DeGroff, Scholarly Communications Librarian (ext. 5114, H.J.Degroff@bath.ac.uk) or the Subject Librarian for your Department or School can point you in our direction.
