again, thank you. you made me so happy. this community is a witness through my hardships and small victories in self-studying photoshop for sometime now, and with 200 plus members already, my heart is filled with so much gratitude. I know that somehow, most of the people are in here for the resources and exactly for the graphics, but I'm really trying my best to get better.

with this said, here's a teeny tiny batch of animanga icons I experimented with today. I have tried coloring manga for the past few weeks and I'm still no good. they're quite okay though and well, I'm going to work harder.

okay on this one, I just got bored and played around. I find a bit rough-edged and not cleaned well-enough but it gives 'character' to the work so NVM.

if you can notice, all pictures used on this wpaper is given a diff. coloring from each other. :D

tutorial 012 : model

using PS CS2 [not translatable]

a.) COLORING

1. Get your base, pictures with dark backgrounds with a bit of reddish tones works well with this coloring.

2. Then make a curves layer with these settings:
rgb - i:162, o:223
red - i:172 o :138
green - i:168 o:160
blue - i:121 o:144

3. Make a new adjustment layer using photo filter and input these setting:
photo filter : deep emerald

4. Then go to gradient map, use the black&white one, and put it on softlight 45%

5. Lastly, for the coloring, make a channel mixer layer and put these:
red : 115, -10, 24
green : -2, 110, 0
blue : 0, 0, 105

6. Merge all layers, and well, you can already stop here.

b.) DESIGN

1. Drag and set it to multiply 100%

2. Duplicate your base and bring it to the top and set it to softlight 100%, and move it a bit to the right.

3. I erased the parts of the softlight layer that covers the model.

4. Take and set it to screen 100%

5. Then, take and put it to multiply 90%

6. Duplicate that multiply layer and set it to softlight 30%

7. Merge all layers and add text/brushes/more textures if you want.

ta-da!

Okay, so it's not entirely hard and the coloring isn't too obvious, it just gives the existing colors on the picture a little kick and contrast.

And oh, it gives better results to pictures that have a reddish-tint to it! :3
