Flash Update on the situation in Haiti (15-27 May 2026)

The humanitarian situation in the Metropolitan Zone of Port-au-Prince continues to be significantly impacted by gang violence, causing a new wave of mass displacement. As of 27 May 2026, 17,496 people have been forced to flee their homes due to the increased clashes by armed gangs in the commune of Cité Soleil, which escalated on 10 May 2026. There is an urgent need for SRH and protection services for women and girls, along with other essential services. Among the displaced population, several vulnerable cases were identified, including pregnant women, child-headed households, persons with disabilities, and separated children.

Despite the security constraints and limited humanitarian access, UNFPA and its implementing partners are ensuring access to critical services through the deployment of integrated sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence (GBV) mobile clinics, dignity kit distribution, coordination of GBV prevention and response services, and remote support for survivors of violence via a hotline.
