A new version of Stray Quotes, 1.44, is out: it comes with a new field, “source”, that allows the user to specify where the quote comes from (be it a book or a website or a magazine or whatever you want). Also added in the option page the formatting elements to put before and after this new field. This version also fixes few minor bugs.

August 14, 2007Plastic Tunes working with the Now-Playing plugin for Winamp
August 8, 2007As announced, for Winamp users, Plastic Tunes now works with the “Now Playing” plugin.
The “Now Playing” plugin offers few advantages: it doesn’t need other applications in order to work, like curl for AMIP, and it is easier to configure. Theoretically it can also insert more songs at a time into the database instead than one at a time, although this feature has not really been tested with Plastic Tunes yet.
On the downside, Now Playing does not notifies when a song is replayed after being stopped, which causes Plastic Tunes to incorrectly report the player as not playing when it is playing the same song. It is a minor problem, but there are no workarounds so far.
On the Plastic Tunes page is the new version.

Simple Download Counter
July 27, 2007NOTE: Right now this plugin is discontinued because there are much better plugins out there than this one.
This plugin counts how many times a file is being downloaded from your wordpress blog and lets you display the total number of downloads on its pages. It also includes a management page with the total amounts of downloads for each file, and the possibility to reset to zero the counters if needed.
It’s simple and it works.

— v. 0.8b There was a problem with the confirmation button after trying to reset a value in the table of the downloads. It went on resetting even if the user clicked ‘cancel’. Now solved.

Installation & Usage
— FTP the “download_counter” folder to your “wp-content/plugins” directory;
— Activate the plugin;
— Go to its option page and enter the name of the folder where you keep the files to be downloaded;
— Change the download link to a special one that allows the plugin to count the times a file is downloaded;
— Consult the total downloads from your database or display it on the pages of your blog.All the instructions you need will be on the option page as soon as you activate the plugin.
