Electric Garden is a Grammy Award-winning recording studio in Brooklyn. 

Great recording studios are not just a combination of recording-appropriate acoustics, top-flight gear, and audio engineering expertise. Great recording studios inspire artists to present the best version of their work. Because sound isolation and neutral frequency response are of paramount importance in these spaces, they can tend to feel like drab acoustic product bunkers.

Owner/recording engineer Ben Kane’s vision was to transform an old bean sprout factory in South Williamsburg into one of Brooklyn’s leading recording studios. Rather than rely solely on traditional acoustic products, Umbel’s approach was to combine a variety of natural materials: living plants, reclaimed bark, beautifully engineered wood, fabric.

The approach both creates a listening environment appropriate to the performance needs of a high-end recording studio and creates an environment that inspires the best from artists and engineers.
