Unfortunately I have to import the graphs as pictures as there is no way to transfer them from the original software to excel in any other form.

Every time I insert one of the graphs (as a picture) I have to resize it because it is inserted too large. This is actually quite time consuming when you're talking a few hundred graphs.

Does anyone know if there is way of changing a setting in Excel to always insert pictures in a defined way?

I'd really appreciate some help!

(x-posted)

I'm a student at the university of Plymouth and I am syudying Digital Arts and Technology. There are 6 different modules and you need to pass all 6 to make it to the second year, though I feel have messed up on 2 of them so I'm screwed basically.

So I'm thinking about repeating this year. I would rather repeat the year than drop out all together. If anyone can shed some light about repeating years then that would be great.

Thanks :)

xx

I've looked through ucas without much luck (is Goldsmith's insanely hard to get into?
Hi everyone,

I'm a Canadian student, just starting the third year of my undergraduate arts degree at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. I am seriously considering graduate studies in English literature in the UK (specifically Scotland, if at all possible). However, I have no idea what the reputations of the different universities are for postgraduate English lit, or what kind of marks are expected. I am currently averaging 75% (which I expect will improve somewhat over the next two years, since I no longer have to take science, which I am crap at), but I don't know how this matches up against the UK grading system.

Does anyone have any information on universities I should be considering? I don't even know where to begin to look, and the few websites I have visited have been pretty confusing and haven't offered a lot of usual information (that I could find).

Also, does anyone have any figures concerning the average cost for an international student to study in the UK? I know it'll vary from school to school, but some ballpark figure perhaps...?

Thanks in advance!

Hope you guys got the results you were hoping for.

I was wondering what happens if (and yes, this is another stupid question) I enroll in university classes now, when my plan is to apply through UCAS this fall/winter.

Does it make me a non-traditional student?
Do they disregard my IB grades and only look at the uni grades I might get (i.e. give me a conditional offer :S )?
(Does it depend on the subjects I take?)
Does it not matter at all? (I realize that taking classes probably won't give me credit, and I don't want that either.)

Do you guys think the universities have a preference as to whether or not I spend this could-be gap year working or taking classes?

Hi guys, I was a question for you that might be weird to answer. :/ So my apologies in advance.

I was unable to apply through UCAS last year, so this year I'm either enrolling my in local university or taking a gap year to work - it doesn't really matter, or does it? Do you guys think UK unis have a preference about how I spend this year? - either way, I'm applying to UK unis for fall 2007. Since I'm out of school, I have my IB results and will probably be rejected/accepted right away, instead of getting conditional offers (or am I missing something?), which is good.

My question is, umm... a guarantee school. Ok that sounds terrible, but I want to be certain that I at least get in somewhere, because I didn't want to wait a year, and the thought of maybe waiting two years is unacceptable.

So I was wondering if you guys knew of any schools in the London area (doesn't have to be in London, in fact it's good if it's outside... money) that offer Anthropology, philosophy, religious studies, or psychology programmes that aren't super selective?

(My current target school is Goldsmith's for psychology... Do you guys know if it's hard to get in here? They only ask for 30 IB points, so I saw a weak light there.

cross-posted in uni2006

Hi everybody.

So, after all the fuss with applications and exams, I'm still left with a bit of a dilemma that I was hoping some of you could help me out with.

You see, even though I have done some thorough research on the schools I applied to earlier this year, most of my decisions were based on websites and popular ranking charts. Now granted, I think most of the schools I have picked have relatively solid reputations. But, I can't help but think that all those brochures they've sent me are probably biased. And I'm reluctantly wary of ranking charts. So, my problem is that I'm not sure which school to pick.

Being an international student, it's quite impossible for me to actually physically visit any of these schools because plane ticket prices would be off the wall. And I'm left without the option of finding anyone who knows anything about any of these schools. And thus, I find myself at a loss of what to do.

I want to really find out more about the atmosphere and the general reputations of the schools so if you could give me any information, I'd appreciate it very much.

Without further ado, these are the schools:
King's College London
University of Bristol
University of Manchester
Univeristy of Leeds
St Mary's College
University of St Andrews

Ehh I guess it's kind of late in the process and people pretty much know where they are heading next fall or even fall 2007 for those of your who deferred a year, and congratulations to you guys!

My question is about the fall 2007 application process, I figure why not try. I want to apply as early as possible to ensure some kind of chance, and since I'll have my grades then as well, there won't be much of a problem with school anyway.

I was wondering what you people who applied to slightly different courses did in your personal statement? I'm going for philosophy, but the courses vary a lot, and I don't want to restrict myself to one school just because of the personal statement.

x-posted

Hi everybody,

I applied to Goldsmiths' MA in Anthropology and Cultural Politics program, and through informal correspondence with the admissions officer for the program, I was informed that since I am currently finishing up my senior year in college, any acceptance that I might receive would be conditional on my graduating with an upper 2.1 degree. I am an American student and as such am completely unfamiliar with British grading policies.

I currently have a 3.3 grade average and should probably graduate with roughly the same GPA. I looked it up, and some websites said that that was roughly equivalent to a low A average in American terms, which would probably be about a 3.6 and above. Barring some miracle, I cannot get that kind of GPA by graduation, which was probably evident in the transcripts that I sent in as part of my application. Upon further inspection of the website, I found that the minimum degree required for the program was listed as just being an upper 2.1, which I think equates to about a b+, which I have.

My question is this: for students currently pursuing graduate work ot Goldsmiths, is it common for MA programs to require such a high degree as an upper 2.1? I am hoping that the admissions officer just made a mistake while typing. And if a gpa falls short of that stated in a conditional offer by just a little, is there still a chance of getting in anyway?

Sorry to write you guys a novel, I'm just really stressed out about the whole after-college thing. If this post isn't appropriate, i'll delete it post-haste.
