One week into Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Dublin continues to welcome policymakers and leaders from across Europe. Supporting an energy transition that works for all takes more than ambition. It takes sustained delivery, thoughtful decisions and a clear focus on real impact. This year, we contributed over £10bn to GDP in the UK and Ireland and delivered a record £24.9m in community investment. These outcomes show what the energy transition looks like in practice. Stronger local economies, lasting value for communities and benefits people can see and feel. We are equally focused on the natural environment. Every large capital project consented this year incorporated biodiversity net gain into its design, helping ensure we leave a positive legacy for nature alongside new infrastructure. Sustainability is not a separate agenda here at SSE. It is how we deliver our strategy. As we move forward, our focus remains on steady progress, and delivering lasting benefits for people, nature and the electricity system as a whole. We’ve published a new report today showing that the biggest lever to cut energy bills in the UK is to make more use of clean power generated here and help homes, businesses and industry to electrify. By generating more clean energy here at home and upgrading the grid, we can build a more affordable, secure energy system that brings down bills over time. The benefits could be even greater if we stop making electricity artificially expensive by removing levies and other costs from the electricity bill. The UK has led the world in areas like offshore wind and can do so again by winning the electrification race - saving customers money while driving growth and competitiveness not just nationally but across all regions of the country. Powering the energy transition sometimes means looking back as well as forward. 👀🔙 In Christchurch, a building that first generated electricity in 1903 is beginning a new chapter. The former Museum of Electricity has now transitioned back into an operational role. As a Grade II listed site, access and preservation have always required care. Thanks to the dedication of the SSE Heritage team and the strength of local community support, the collection has been thoughtfully rehomed. Some artefacts continue to tell SSE’s story through in-house displays, while others are now safely preserved for the future. This change respects our heritage while enabling the site to support today’s energy system. It is a reminder that the foundations of our work still matter as we shape what comes next.

On Friday, we marked a major milestone for Ireland's energy future as Minister Thomas Byrne TD and local representatives joined our Chief Financial Officer Barry O'Regan at Platin Power Station in County Meath to officially mark the start of the main phase of construction. With an investment of up to €300 million, the 180MW power station will strengthen Ireland's security of electricity supply while supporting a renewables-led energy system with flexible generation when it's needed most. The project is expected to support around 200 jobs during construction and forms part of SSE's wider investment of up to €600 million in new flexible generation infrastructure across Ireland. Building sustainable supply chains is critical. 🔗 Strong supplier relationships matter more than ever as global competition increases. In 2025/26, we invested £6.5bn with supply chain partners to help deliver the infrastructure the UK needs. That investment supports major electricity transmission and distribution projects, including Eastern Green Link 2, the UK’s biggest electricity transmission project.
