List fifteen of your favorite characters from different fandoms, and ask people to spot patterns in your choices, and if they're so inclined, to draw conclusions about you based on the patterns they've spotted.

1. Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock Holmes

2. Dean Winchester from Supernatural

3. Eliot Spencer from Leverage

4. Danny "Danno" Williams from Hawaii 5-0 (circa 2010)

5. Kurt Hummel from Glee

6. Inspector Hathaway from Inspector Lewis

7. Dr. Cox from Scrubs

8. Guy of Gisbon from Robin Hood

9. Logan/Wolverine from The X-Men (comic, cartoon, movie, etc)

10. Cougar and Jensen from The Losers (tie)

11. Rorschach from The Watchmen

12. Batman from Batman (comic, cartoon, movie, etc)

13. Spock and Bones from Star Trek (tie)

14. G.
Dammit

Another actor that I love has joined the list of the dearly departed.

Leslie Neilsen passed away at the age of 84. And while I did hold out hope that it was an internet hoax, it appears to be fact.

http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.ap.org/leslie-nielsen-naked-gun-fame-dies-age-84-ap

So to all the other elderly actors that I love (I'm looking at you Mel Brooks, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and the ones hiding behind them), YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DIE!

NOT ALLOWED!

You are to fight the Reaper tooth and nail. I mean it. If you die, I will be super pissed.

Remiss in my duties

I haven't updated this in about, oh, a billion years. Since giving all the background would take to long, let me just sum it up.

Full-time/permanent/recession proof job at Financial Aid Office fell through. The Director, that had asked me to apply and jump through all the hoops, decided that since I was just out of school that I wouldn't get the same respect as someone that is older and that someone outside the office would be able to better see the issues with our office procedures. She decided not to hire ANYONE from our application pool and has decided to reopen the position to applicants.

It sucks, but whatever. I'm done with school at Cincinnati State. I refuse to work some place for $8.00 an hour as a work-study when I'm not good enough to be paid appropriately, even though I would essentially be doing the exact same job.

I've been doing periodic application blitzes. One of the women that my mother works with was involved in a head-on collision, and since they were already understaffed, I told my mom that I'd be able to help out at the thrift store. Mom checked with the appropriate Powers That Be, and since I've worked with the company before, there wasn't an issue. I'm glad to have the income, even though it is an extremely part time job and not something I want to do for the rest of my life.

I had an interview at Massage Envy not too long ago. The interview went really well, even though it was interrupted since she had to go to an event for the spa and asked me to return in a couple of hours for the 2nd half of the interview and the "demo massage". The "demo massage" could have gone better. It was the first full body massage that I have given in about a year (due to school and co-op). There were no complaints during the massage, but I know that I didn't use as much pressure as she was expecting and did a more "relaxation massage" instead of a therapeutic massage. The woman said that it was a great massage, but that she is looking for a therapist that is more comfortable with therapeutic massages. She told me that they are opening a new location and wants me to apply again in about 6 months since she said that I would probably be able to snag a position in that location easily. At her location, they have a great deal of massage therapists that do relaxation massages.

I'm kind of glad that I didn't get the position because I couldn't have afforded it at this time. I would not only have to pay about $160 for liability insurance, but also, do to the location of the spa I would have to be licensed with the City of Cincinnati, which would also cost another $150. Mom would have shelled out the money to help me, but it still had me stressed after the interview.

So far I've been looking for positions in both the administrative assistant type field and massage therapy field. I hate that the economy sucks and I am kind of hoping that the Financial Aid Office is drowning in paperwork right now.

Could you hit me up with some links for awesome type fics or websites?

Please?

What's the matter, never see a hypocrite before?

Alright, so after trolling through a lj community where they provide downloads of television shows, I decided to download Glee.

I normally watch NCIS & NCIS:LA on Tuesdays, but with those in repeats, I figured I needed something else to amuse me for the next week or so.

It started with realizing that if I watched Glee as if I had ADD (ie: skipping around the downloaded episodes looking for bits with characters/musical numbers I like) that there are things that draw my interest. After sprinting my way through the episodes that have been released, I'm working on going back and actually watching entire episodes.

As it stands, there are a handful of characters I'm sick of, even from the pieces that I've seen. I'm surprised that a show that seems to be built perfectly for an ensemble cast has characters that are apparently the "stars" of the club and of the show. I'm sick of Rachel and Finn. I'm sorry. I know they are "important" but I really don't care. Finn is supposed to be The Golden Boy (tm) but there isn't any reason for me to see him as such. He seems to be a marginal athlete and a good singer, but I have heard better. And quite frankly, Mike Cheng is more physically appealing to me than Finn.

Yes, Rachel is talented, but so are Mercedes, Tina, Quinn, Santana, and Brittany. Hell, if you need a soprano Kurt rocks. I don't know why we need Rachel to be diva-ing it up in our faces almost every week.

I can handle a lot of the stupid mistakes on the part of the students because they are all supposed to be about 16 years old, and no one is freaking brilliant at that age. Hell, the part of the brain that is able to fully comprehend consequences isn't even fully formed until about 25 years of age. I would just like the characters to be a bit more fleshed out.

BTW: Kurt's dad is freaking amazing. I'm glad Mike O'Malley is in a role that allows him to be more than the staple "stupid husband" in a sitcom.

Comment here and I will give you a colour. Then, in your journal, list ten things you love that are that colour.

My color was pink:

1. The perfume Pink Sugar.
2. My gray and pink skirt.
3. My pink fuzzy bathrobe.
4. Garcia's highlights that one season in Criminal Minds
5. My "professional" nail polishes
6. Dean's lips (hey, sometimes they give him an unreasonable amount of pinkness ^_^)
7. My pink sweater
8. The porcelain angel statue that my mom gave me
9. The pig I made in Sculpture II
10. MISS PIGGY!!!!!

Okay, I just want credit for not making the usual genitalia jokes that I could have made.

I'm just saying.

Yeah, that's right, I'm Meme-ing it up.

Meme stolen from severity_softly .

1. REPLY TO THIS MEME BY YELLING "MY NAME IS THE MASTER", AND I WILL GIVE YOU FIVE WORDS THAT REMIND ME OF YOU. (ETA: You don't really have to say that for me. Just tell me you want to do it.)
2. THEN POST THEM IN YOUR JOURNAL AND EXPLAIN WHAT THEY MEAN TO YOU.
3. KEEP IN MIND THAT IF I DON'T KNOW YOU THAT WELL, YOUR WORDS MIGHT END UP KIND OF ODD OR WEIRD. IF I DO KNOW YOU, YOUR WORDS WILL MAYBE PROBABLY BE WEIRD.

And here are my five words from severity_softly

1. Garcia

Currently, I'm in love with a show by the name of Criminal Minds. On this show, there is a character that really speaks to me. She is, quite possibly one of my favorite characters on television. She is a plus-sized awesome Techie that supports her team of profilers. She is smart, funny, stylish, and lovable. She is, quite possibly, the first plus-sized female character that I've seen on a weekly show that is an awesome role model and, while she is sometimes used as the comic-relief, the joke is NEVER about her weight. Her team is like her family and there is love on both sides. She is, also, one of the most popular characters on the show. I am currently trying to be more like Garcia in regards to my outlook on life.

2. Snape

I did not read Harry Potter when it first became popular. It was only due to the efforts of my friend, Rebecca, that I read it at all. Her plan, which was evil and worked way too well, was to make me watch one of the movies, have me read THAT book, and repeat as needed. At the time her plan started, there were only three movies out. Yes, I enjoyed Alan Rickman as Snape. Yes, Alan Rickman made me pay more attention to the adults in the book. Snape became my favorite character. I love snarky bastards and therefore, I already had a soft spot in my heart for him. The Snape in canon got a raw deal. While I know he's not blameless, I think he deserved better. And I'm still kind of bitter that Rowling didn't let him have some sort of happy ending.

3. Writing

I have always loved writing. While I don't write everyday, I do tend to have plot-bunnies running rampant. This past year or so, however, marked my first posting of fics that I have written. One fic for Supernatural, a number of fics for Criminal Minds, and one for the new Star Trek Kink Meme. Criminal Minds is the first fandom that I have ever slipped out of lurking mode. While I am not a regular in the main "discussion" communities on LJ (mainly for my own sanity), I do feel connected through the other authors I have met. They are, quite possibly some of the best people I have ever met. I lurvs them all. ^_^

4. RPG

Some of my other friends may know that I'm not always the best about being "regular" with role playing. This RPG, however, seems a bit different. Since it is based in LJ and done through G-docs, it makes it a bit easier to keep up with it. I'm playing Garcia for the Criminal Minds RPG and I love it. The people are great and it is great fun to play with them. I find Garcia an easy character to play, and I'm not sure if it is due to my similarities with her or because of my love for her as a character. I hope that the game goes on for a long time because I am having great fun. bau_rpg Check it out!

5. Being Fabulous

I am just now attempting to believe it is possible for me to be fabulous. I have been made aware by others that I am apparently fabulous, but I don't always believe it. Honestly, Disney is what helped some of my self-esteem. I was able to make friends down there that were totally awesome people and seemed to hold me in the same high regard. When I was deployed to the Contemporary, the people that I worked with regularly missed me and were glad when I returned. When I came back from the Disney Co-op, the people I hung out with on a regular basis at school were happy to see me (I heard about how happy they were the entire week I was back) and the same held for the people that I work with. If so many people think that I'm "fabulous" then I must have some ability to be fabulous.
In the great white North

I arrived back in Cincinnati about an hour later than I had planned on the 8th. The plane that we were scheduled to be on was coming down from La Guardia in NY and had to de-ice.

The trip was mostly uneventful. There was a service dog in training that did not like the airport at all. Poor thing was shaking, had tail totally tucked under her, and flinched at just about everyone that went past her and the two women she was with. She was a good girl though, and did her best. She was awesome on the plane though. The kids around me were more of an annoyance than the dog and, quite honestly, this dog could have behaved horribly and my first reaction would still probably have been "Poor thing, she just doesn't like flying."

I know have a greater dislike for the fuckers in Florida that think 50 is too cold. Die in a fire.

I'm not starting work at school until Wednesday. I had been planning on not working on Friday, but I decided to work a half day, since I don't want them to get all pissy.

I'm heavily considering on talking with Mom tomorrow at IHOP when we get lunch. I'm really really considering just finishing this quarter of school off and getting out in the workforce. I've been out of "school mode" for a while and it's not like a third Associates degree is going to make a huge difference.

My game plan for this quarter is to take a few classes that would be the most beneficial if seen on a resume and go from there. If I decide to return to school, I can always do so at a later date.

Some stuff

This Christmas wasn't so bad. It was my very first one away from all of my family type people, so I think I handled it well. The fact that my family never really makes a big dealie out of these holidays, or hasn't since I was a child, helps. I don't have any extended family out in Ohio, so it is mainly just Mom and I along with our neighbor, who fills the aunt-type position.

Work has been okay, but I'm ready to come home. I started out the program mainly working afternoons and nights (12-7pm or 4:30pm-1am) and for the past few weeks have been working the exact opposite (5am-1:30pm). During the week of Christmas, however, I bounced between early mornings and afternoons to early evenings.

My last week here, I'm back to nights. I'm going to try and see if I can give any of those shifts away, mainly because I'm so drained.

Part of my problems is an issue with a fellow College Program student that we will call R. About a month ago, we were cool. Hung out at work. Laughed a lot during our shifts. Then all of a sudden, one shift she just changes. Doesn't want to talk. And she is the type of girl that will tell you if she is annoyed about something and why. So, the change in behavior is perplexing, mainly because it wasn't accompanied by any explanation.

I figured it was just stress, so I gave her a wide berth during that shift. Behavior continues for the next few shifts we work together (just because a bunch of us CPs work in the same resorts doesn't mean we see each other frequently. I've gone a month without working with some people). I try to be my friendliest, she is still distant. She tells me she's "fine" any time I ask if things are okay.

So, her birthday was on the 26th. On the 24th, she was apparently having a birthday party. She only invited about half of the people at work, which is her choice. What is confusing is it seems to be the half that she was closer to but is now distant from. On the 24th, since I didn't get an invite to her party, and didn't want to crash it, I sent her a message on Facebook saying Happy Birthday. No response.

On the 26th, she got a whole bunch of messages and responded to each one. Whatever.

Here is my point. There are times when I am like a man. If you are mad at more or if I offended you, FUCKING TELL ME HOW YOU FEEL. I hate this Goddamn "If you don't know, I'm not going to tell you" or saying that everything is "fine" when it really isn't. I don't have time for it.

I'm an adult. I, occasionally, like to act like an adult and communicate like a reasonable human being.

My goal for the program was to make it to January 7th without any real interpersonal conflict. No little spats with other people that lead us to making the "I'm going to avoid you but since there is limited space I'm going to avoid you right in front of you" dance. So far, I've succeeded, which is why I have yet to call her on her bullshit. She also leaves before I do and there is a big chance I will never see her again. I don't want to leave things on a bad note, but I also didn't want to ruin her birthday by sending her a message that would tick her off.

I'm probably going to send her a message tonight on Facebook and see what she says, because, while I don't like conflict, I also really don't like thinking that I could have hurt someone's feelings inadvertently.

I want any hurt feelings to be...well...advertent.

Yay Sherlock!!!!!!!

Saw Sherlock Holmes tonight and absolutely loved it.

I like that they stayed true to certain aspects of his character. Yes, he is brilliant, but Watson also makes a big deal about how fit and physically able Holmes can be. So it was great to actually see him doing those types of activities.

I also like how they portrayed Holmes and Watson's relationship. Watson is, pretty much, Holmes' only friend. He has acquaintances, but in the books, it is Watson that he relies upon. And while Holmes is busy relying on Watson, Watson relies on Holmes for the excitement being his friend brings.

That Watson was smart, made my day. In most movies/books/tv shows they make Watson a freaking idiot. The stories by Doyle do have Watson being less intelligent than Holmes, but think of it this way, the man was a doctor in Victorian England (which means Classical education) and in the Army (which means he is no coward). Since the stories are supposed to be from Watson's perspective, of course he is going to makes Holmes out to be as brilliant as possible. Hell, Watson probably feels like an idiot next to Holmes.

I loved the movie. I was a little annoyed at how they altered the way the Watson and his fiancee met, but oh well. It was enjoyable and, if time permits, I'm going to go and see it again tomorrow.

Proof my mommy loves me...and why she is the best mommy ever.

Okay, so I won't be back in Cincinnati until January 8th. Today I got a Christmas card from my mom. Inside the card, she included her "Twelve Days of Christmas" list, along with $20.

Here is what the piece of paper said. I will include notes at the end, just in case people don't understand some of the references.

To Survive the Holiday Season, my Mother sent to me:

Dr. Spencer Reid's eidetic memory

Shemar Moore's room entering technique

John, Sam, and Dean in the Impala

A ton of rock salt

Iron Man's flight suit

Wolverine's adamantium claws

Snape and his potions

Sherlock's analytical mind

Xavier's gay hat

Goofy's nervous laugh

Five minutes rest

And Fluffy to fight alongside me.

Notes:

Shemar Moore plays Derek Morgan on the show Criminal Minds. He enters rooms by breaking down doors.

John, Sam, and Dean Winchester are from the show Supernatural. They have an awesome 1967 Chevy Impala. Rock salt is used in the show to fight ghosts and demons.

Sherlock as in Sherlock Holmes.

By "Xavier's gay hat" she means Cerebro, which, you must admit, is pretty gay looking in the movies. That hat takes it roughly from behind.

And finally, the one that most of you may not know, my Undead Warlock in World of Warcraft started out as Demonology specc'd. Fluffy is what I called my Voidwalker. Fluffy kicks major ass.

Any other questions will be answered if they are posted in my comments. ^_^

I don't know how many of you follow Matthew Gray Gubler's twitter and how many don't, so I'm going to post this here.

This man makes me laugh. A lot.
<lj-embed id="21" />

For those of you that don't know, the Unauthorized Documentary is supposed to be a work of humor. Gubler has little to no respect or love for asshole actors, so the documentary is meant to parody them.

*slams head into desk repeatedly*

Okay, now I'm actually really very lucky with my roommates, however, they do, at times, annoy the piss out of me.

Julie, while nice, doesn't always make the best life choices, has an immaturity streak a mile wide, and is somehow allergic to housework. I mean it, she says she likes a clean kitchen but I don't think she has done a single dish since she has been here and I don't think she's ever taken out the trash.

Christina is leaving on the 19th. So while I do have some issues with her, at least they will be resolved once she is on her merry way. She too is allergic to taking out the trash.

Stacy has been known to clean, however, she is either at work, on the phone, or out getting drunk. Not tipsy. Not buzzed. She either doesn't drink or she drinks until she essentially blacks out. There is NO in-between. Luckily, she is normally out with some of her friends that live in the area when she goes crazy with the drinking.

Franny is pretty much half living here and half living at her boyfriends. My only real issue with her is that she doesn't really do anything to contribute to the cleanliness in the apartment. I suspect she has the same allergy as Julie and Christina.

Anna is great. No complaints.

Anna and I sometimes get annoyed with the others. Annoyed in such a way that we decide to hold back on certain types of cleaning in an attempt to see if it will provoke the others to step up. Anna and I were both out of the apartment for a good portion of the week last week. Both of us returned to a sink full of dishes and trash that needed to be taken out. The dishes got put in the dishwasher by someone (probably Stacy, maybe Christina) but the trash and recycling sat there until tonight.

Tonight, I had a mini mental break down and did that thing that parents do when they just kind of snap and go "fuck this, I'll do it myself". I mean it, muttering under my breath, putting things down more forcefully then necessary. It is only a shame that my passive agressiveness was not witnessed.

SIX BAGS!

The recycling was not even bagged, I had to do that. No, it was piled very haphazardly around the recycling bin. Not squashed. Just tossed on top and around it. The trash had been apparently so full that they removed one of the bags, closed it, set it next to the trash bin and then put a new bag in, which was also filled.

So I emptied the closet where we keep the bins. Bagged everything up and took it out.

What ticks me off is I've heard Julie say in the past about certain things, "eh, someone will take care of it." I'M THE SOMEONE! ME!

I didn't mind being pretty much the ONLY one that cleaned for our last apartment inspection. I figured that someone else would step up and help out next time. Well guess what. Julie's family will be in town, Christina is leaving, I have no clue what is up with Franny, and Stacy is going to go and visit her family.

Which leaves just me and Anna. ...yay...

Part of the reason I'm so upset is that I don't think they really appreciate what I do when I clean up. I'm taking time that I have off to not only clean up my area, but their areas as well.

After the last inspection (which we passed), the others acted offended that we didn't get the "White Glove" (the fancy pants award for super clean apartments). Well you know what, maybe if I had some help (in more than just "well I was going to do that...eventually) we would have gotten it.

I'm going to make the others clean up their areas BEFORE they leave. They want to go, fine. Make sure your shit is spotless before you do. I'm sick of doing it for them for little more then an "oh, thanks".

And the reason I haven't told anyone tonight? I think I'd Hulk out and smash them or tear them a new one instead of sounding like a reasonable adult.

I pretty much know for a fact that the person in question *coughfinnisphinxcough* will never see this, since he is too busy "writing" to realize how people feel about what he writes, soo...

OMG GET OUT OF MY FANDOMS. GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT

If I could pay a poultergeist to write it on your walls in blood, I totally would. Please stop polluting my once prevalent with good fic fandom with your shit. Your characters are OOC and just...so so so wrong. You churn out an obscene amount of fic so so quickly that it boggles the mind.

The community that used to be my go-to place now pains me to visit because I have to weed through all of your spam just to get to what I want to read. Also, whenever I post my own fic, I worry that it will get pushed to the back quickly since you seem to take any other author posting work as a personal offense. Other people can play in fandom too. It's true. I've seen it happen.

I never comment on any of your fics because I'm not sure I'm a strong enough person to walk the line between actual constructive criticism and flaming you with the burning wrath of a thousand suns. Since I'm not a troll, I'm posting this in my own personal journal where if you decide to see what someone thinks of you, you can't accuse them of trolling you and being mean.

You make me want to make a million fandomsecrets about how much I dislike your work.

I wish someone would take away your internets. All of them.

GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!!!!!!

I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR BULLSHIT!!!

I miss the good authors. The ones that posted stories with plot, and in character development. Stories with an actual beginning, middle, and end.

GO AWAY!

LOOK! EVEN REID DOES NOT WANT YOUR FIC!!

Mr. Darcy, Vampire ....SPOILERS AHEAD

Yeah, you read that right. I recently purchased, and devoured (hehe) a book by the title of Mr. Darcy, Vampire by Amanda Grange. Said author had previously written Mr. Darcy's Diary.

The book, while better than expected, was remarkably similar to Twilight in certain aspects. That being said, it still kicked Twilight's ass.

What can I say? Darcy is the superior vampire to Edward Cullen and Elizabeth Bennett is a bigger badass than Bella Swan.

The story starts with Elizabeth's wedding day and follows their relationship from there. Elizabeth notices a strange, tormented, look on Darcy's face soon after the wedding, while he is reading her the telegrams that the people who couldn't come to the wedding have sent. She chalks it up to a play of the light, since he doesn't tell her why he is upset, and she puts the incident in the back of her mind.

It reasserts itself later when Darcy fails to come to her on their wedding night. Or any night after that. Elizabeth speaks to a woman during their travels that notices that Elizabeth is upset about something even though Darcy looks at Elizabeth with obvious love and affection. The woman tells Elizabeth (in an extremely Victorian fashion) to go to Darcy and tempt him. Elizabeth attempts to do so, but even though Darcy really...enjoys...their brief romantic encounter, he storms off when he begins to "lose" control. This confuses Elizabeth, but when she is met with affection in the morning, she is confused, but decides to wait to voice her concerns. (Which, to be perfectly honest, is probably behavior that is common for that time).

Skipping right along, they continue their honeymoon tour, and visit a great deal of Darcy's friends, all of which are surprised that he has settled down and are delighted by Elizabeth. There are a few women that try to tempt him away from her at a party, but he does nothing to encourage them and goes over to Elizabeth instead.

There are a few incidents where Elizabeth notices that he talks about a certain even in history as though he had really been there, or one of his friends mentions knowing someone from a hundred years ago. In the case of Darcy, she notices it, but believes that he is just telling her a family story, since this mostly occurs when he is explaining the history of an area. In the case of Darcy's friends, one woman just tells Elizabeth that her English isn't good and that she sometimes makes errors.

It is in Italy that Elizabeth becomes more concerned with Darcy not attempting a conjugal visit, until she meets a friend of hers from England. The woman has become pregnant while traveling and is forced to stay in Italy until the baby is born since travel is too dangerous in her state. Elizabeth convinces herself that Darcy is just trying to allow Elizabeth to see the most of the world while she is able, and decides not to try and talk to him about it.

There are a few times when Elizabeth, during the length of the book, attempts to confront Darcy, but is either put off by circumstances (villagers attacking and the like) or is interrupted by their hosts. She is a smart heroine however, and only faints once during the entire book.

While they are visiting a count they met during their travels, Elizabeth explores his library and is confronted by a man she has seen once or twice at the parties in the area. He manages to get her partly in his thrall (she tells him no, but her body walks toward him, he grabs her and she says she wants her husband) and before he can bite her, Darcy interrupts and attacks the man, fangs out. Elizabeth faints.

When she comes to, she has no memory of the event and Darcy is gone. Her host convinces her that Darcy does not love her and that she must leave. She packs her things, gives her maid a note to mail to Jane (her sister) and writes Darcy a note. As she is leaving, she realizes that the men taking her are up to no good and tries to get away. The carriage pulls off to a clearing and the man that tried to attack her earlier is waiting. The memory of the library comes back to Elizabeth and before he can do her any harm, Darcy, who was told by Elizabeth's maid where she was, opens up a can of whoop ass and then grabs Elizabeth and hightails it out of there to a hunting lodge he owns.

God bless Victorian women and the British stiff upper lip. Elizabeth takes in the news that Darcy is a vampire, he tells her how he was turned, and she tells him that she isn't going to leave him. She loves him. He tells her that the only reason he hadn't come to her at night was because he received word on the wedding day that if he slept with her, he could have passed on his curse to her. The leader of the tiny village in the middle of nowhere comes to the Darcys and says that he has heard rumor of a way to break the curse, he just hadn't told Darcy since the man has such obvious power that he uses for good (like a superhero) and didn't think that any vampire wanted to become human again.

Elizabeth goes with Darcy, despite his saying he doesn't want her to. They break the curse and then have sex. Happy endings all around.

Honestly, the book reads in such a way that the reader is able to put two and two together well before Elizabeth does, but Elizabeth, being a smart, but Victorian woman, has reason for disbelief. As it is, her attempting to leave Darcy is the only dumb thing she does in the entire book. She picks up on a lot of the hints and has pretty good instincts.

Grange's vampires have fangs. They do, however, have varied weaknesses. Darcy's "uncle" has no reflection. Darcy becomes transparent (think of those old ghost illustrations, where you could see through them) in the sunset and the sunrise.

None of the vampires really like garlic or crosses. Darcy wears a crucifix, however, since Elizabeth bought it for him and wouldn't take no for an answer. It apparently only causes him minor discomfort, since he is badass.

Thoughts on work

It has been a while since I've posted about work, so I figured I'd give you all some details on who I work with. Since I am bounced between all three All Star Resorts, I have a number of managers/coordinators to work with.

The main manager is K. He's nice enough, but he doesn't really interact with the CPs (college program students). He doesn't start conversation, but will participate if someone else starts it.

The other managers are all under K. I don't hate any of my managers, but there are some I like less than others.

C used to be a teacher, is still new to the All Star Resort and seems to think that asking questions about things we already know is a valid style of management. She seems to be underfoot or hiding at any given time. Here is a good example. The other day I was scheduled to be off at 4:30pm and Tracy (a fellow CP) that she would give me a ride home so that I didn't have to take the bus. At about 4:27pm, C comes over and asks if I can do a post-sale shipping for a guest. Note, there were other cashiers that were not busy. I told C that I didn't know if I should do it because I had to leave at 4:30, and Tracy, who was also leaving at 4:30 was my ride home. (The company is notorious about wanting us to clock out on time. If you clock out more than 15 minutes late, you get half a point which can add up to a reprimand). C says, "Let me see what I can do" and then goes and gets Tracy to help me. Most of the other managers would have just pulled another cashier over to take the transaction. Tracy and I both worked our butts off and managed to clock out at 4:40pm.

N is another manager that isn't one of my favorites. She's nice enough, but there are sometimes where her actions just don't make any sense. She fiddle farts around with certain things and is almost Nazi like in her love for projects. I was greeter one shift (have to say hi to the guests and play games with kids. The whole Magical Moment thing). We were slow that night and she told me to work on softlines until it picked up. Softlines is a pain in the ass because if you are trying to do that while doing something else, you can't just bring a rack of clothes out since it may sit there for a while when business picks up. So I was running back and forth and up and down the ladders in the back. Eventually, she decides she doesn't want me to work on that project and decides she wants me to put out some more Halloween merchandise. So pretty much, instead of greeting, I did three or four other projects.

E is my "homeroom" manager. I don't work with him very often. But he is nice, young guy that tends to work with us instead of over us.

G is one manager that I work with on a pretty regular basis. She went through the college program and her teenager daughter is currently going through the college program. G and I have pretty similar expectations with certain parts of work and it is actually pretty easy to forget that she is a boss and not another co-worker.

H is probably one of my favorite managers. She and I have the same type of humor and she works with the rest of the cast instead of just working in her office for the entire time. She doesn't act like it is a pain to help one of us if we need assistance.

M is another one of my favorites. I would have pegged him for gay, but apparently he's married and has a pregnant wife, which just goes to show me that I shouldn't make assumptions. ^_^ He's laid back, for the most part, and is excited when you ask to be trained in something else.

R is up there with my favorites. He and I have the same viewpoints when it comes to guests fucking us over. Bottom line: Disney will do all they can for a guest if they have any issue. However, R and I are both of the viewpoint that when it comes to a guest trying to pull one over on us and thus the company, we will not have it. R is my muscle when needed, and for that reason, I love him for it.

P is an odd duck. I don't think he is really used to working with women. He is kind of awkward and he acts like the All Star is one of the more posh resorts. It isn't. Dear God, it really isn't. But he is nice enough and not horrible to work with.

D is leaving at the end of the month, and that makes me sad. I haven't worked with her too much, but she is really nice. I wish her the best and hope it works out.

S is hilarious. He is my big, gay manager. He makes working at a certain resort a whole lot more fun. He lets the cast joke around with each other, as long as we don't neglect guests. He figures that a happy cast makes for a happy experience for the guest.

I think I covered all the managers. We also have coordinators, which are just under the managers, but there are a bunch of them also. I get along with pretty much all of the coordinators.

I am really thankful for my mother. She is the one that I learned the retail business and good guest relations from. Anything I've learned from other people has just reinforced what she taught me. It is because of her lessons that most of the managers and coordinators believe that I know what I'm doing and because of this, I don't have anyone riding my ass.
