✧ PERSONALITY: Sol is the kind of guy that might make you want to punch him in the face when you first see him, and definitely when you see him in a fight. He’s crude, sarcastic, and loves to tease his opponents. When he talks to someone, he’s almost always rude, blunt and to the point. Some say it’s because of his American heritage, but the few people that still know him today (i.e. Axl Low) know that it’s just a front. In actuality, Sol is considered to be a combat genius, among other things. He also has compassion and actually cares about others, but decides to hide that for their sake. Being connected to someone like him is a death sentence in his eyes. The fact that he's near-immortal with being a Gear doesn't help in that regard – he tends to outlive most people he'd normally make friends with anyway.

As expected with someone like him, he is not someone you want to mess with. Even with the laid-back attitude he has, if you cross him, you are ensuring your own death sentence. However, that doesn’t mean he will be serious from the get-go. Being what he is and how much knowledge he has gained over time, he will not go all-out until he knows if his opponent will actually be a challenge to him. Evidence of this can be shown in his fighting stance. He stands holding Fuuenken backwards, relaxed as his other hand is seen in his pocket.

Despite all his callousness, Sol’s a pretty complex guy. He drives others away, trying to make sure that they don’t get close. This is mostly because of a deep self-hatred that he has. He hates himself for what he has become, so much so that he has gone as far as to call himself a monster because of it. Despite his long life, he's a pretty jaded, and to act as a counter-balance for Ky's faith, he's been quoted to even say “God? I don't want anything to do with him.” [… yes, I reworded that infamous line from the GGX anime trailer. 8|]

Even though his actions have saved and helped countless lives within the Guilty Gear world, Sol doesn’t do it for atonement or for the sake of helping, despite thoughts to the former especially. On the contrary, he helps if only to stop That Man’s plans, whether they actually do help other people out or not doesn’t make any difference to him. But this doesn’t mean that he’s ignorant of the consequences of his actions. Because of his experiences, Sol is extremely in tune with what is going on in the world and what the consequences of his actions entail.

He’s no martyr, either. The only way that Sol will willingly die for anything is if he knows that he’s stopped That Man once and for all. Unlike Ky, he does not have a savior complex. He will not throw his life away just to save someone else. This doesn’t mean that he won’t save anyone, though. He just tends to consider the situation thoroughly before acting. In fact, Sol thinks things through more often than you might think. He heavily internalizes for all possibilities before acting. Sometimes he will act on impulse, he’s still somewhat human, after all, and especially on matters that involve That Man.

✧ ABILITIES/POWERS: Sol is considered to be one of the most powerful beings currently in the Guilty Gear universe. With his limiter on, he can even take down a Megadeath-class Gear [second only to Commander Gears and can level a large city within an hour or less] with little to no problems. Even so, such displays of raw power are rarely if at all used. Sol prefers to hold back on his opponents, only using what energy is necessary to take them down. Part of the reason for this seems to stem from the fact that he has Fuuenken in the first place. The weapon gives him an almost steady stream of magic to work with, therefore giving him the opportunity to constantly attack without having to worry about recharging his magic energy as much.

Another reason that can be attributed to Sol’s lazy fighting style is force of habit. Prior to gaining Fuuenken as a weapon, he was forced to conserve his energy, as recharging his magic would take some time to complete.

One would think that removing the limiter would make this much easier, and in all honesty, it probably would. However, removing the limiter, even for a short period of time, would incite one of two things. First, it would result in a release in energy that would be almost immediately recognizable as a Gear’s. Second, it breaks down his limiter a bit more each time, making it that much harder for him to retain his human form. Sol knows that the more he uses his powers as a Gear with the limiter on, the more his limiter will break down, which is why he’s almost constantly repairing it.

There is, however, a major psychological effect if he leaves his powers unsealed for too long, which only gains in duration when the technique is extended. Sol gains more of a primal instinct when in this state: overly aggressive and violent, lashing out at anything that tries to get in his way. His control and sanity are shaky at best when in Dragon Install for extended periods of time, therefore he tries to keep his time in that state at a minimum.

tl;dr – you don't fuck with this guy. 8D;

Weapons: Sol’s weapon is Fuuenken (Fireseal), one of the eight pieces of the Outrage, which are also known as Jinki. This weapon has the ability to naturally increase the user’s abilities with fire magic despite its odd appearance.

Movelist:

Bandit Revolver: Sol leaps into the air, hitting the opponent with his knee, and spins around to deliver an axe kick. *Same as normal, except that his leg is completely encased in flames while he does this.

Bandit Bringer: Sol leaps into the air and comes crashing down on the target with a flaming fist.

Riot Stamp: One of my personal favorites. Sol leaps backwards, kicks off, then flies forward to deliver a FLAMING BOOT TO THE HEAD.

Gun Flame: The standard projectile move. Sol slams Fuuenken into the ground, creating a mini-pillar of flame that travels toward the target. *Same action, different reaction. After slamming Fuuenken into the ground, Sol creates a decently large pillar of flame, stationary, but powerful.

Grand Viper: Sol charges into the target in a blaze of flame, then uses a flaming uppercut to knock the target into the clouds while he stays on the ground. (Accent Core version)

Volcanic Viper: Sol knocks the opponent into the air with a flaming uppercut, following them while he does so. *Same properties, just carries for a longer distance.

Fefnir: FALCON PAWNCH. Basically, Sol delivers a hard straight with one hand, his arm engulfed in flames.

Tyrant Rave version β: Sol delivers a flaming punch from his free hand, then another, more devastating blow with the one gripping Fuuenken.

Dragon Install: Sol temporarily unseals part of his Gear powers, making him stronger and faster than normal. Some of his moves have their properties changed as well in this mode. However, it lasts for an extremely short amount of time and leaves him with a killer headache and pretty drained after use.

Napalm Death: This move is known as Sol’s “Instant Kill” move for a reason. Sol crouches down, then leaps into the air with several pillars of flame surrounding him, creating an enormous explosion as he does so.

*This is the move when performed after using Dragon Install.

Now, considering the fact that he not only was one of the main scientists leading the Gear Project, but was also smart enough to develop weapons in case something went wrong as well as a suppression device for himself, it’s safe to say that Sol is a smart guy. Not only on the subject of science and Gears, but also in magic and combat. He won’t hesitate to use his environment to his advantage and is an adaptable fighter.

✧ TIME OF ARRIVAL: Night

The thing is, though, thinking about it – the top half past the eyes would have to jut out a bit to make room for the limiter – 'cause the only way that thing is coming off is if a certain cloaked bastard shows up [which is highly unlikely considering, but there you go].

✧ PLACE OF SOLACE: A bar from when he was traveling in England, one of the first places he met up with Axl after finding out about his little time-traveling problem. Fully stocked and ready to go, for whenever you feel like getting a good night's drink in. 8D;

✧ FIRST PERSON: [The expression of the man staring at the PORTAL is one of annoyance. Pretty common emotion for one to feel when they've been taken away from their intended destination, but at the same time, outside of some slight facial cues, his face is pretty hard to read.]

✧ THIRD PERSON: Heavy thoughts were beginning to cloud Sol's mind, especially those revolving around the words spoken to him by That Man. “Something even more intense than the Crusades…” he mumbled, closing his eyes. What did that all mean? More sorrow, more pain? No. He wouldn’t let that happen. Wasn’t that one of the reasons why he was doing this, besides correcting the mistakes made by them so long ago?

Redemption wasn’t something he was searching for right now. Everyone he wanted to ask forgiveness from was dead with the exception of Axl. But still, that wasn’t it. It wasn’t so much redemption and atonement than revenge for what was taken from him. Purpose, humanity…any chance of living life like a normal human being, it was all gone. He knew he was nothing but a monster now.

But even as a monster…he could still fight back. This was his fight and his alone. Not even Axl could deny him that. Not even the kid.

He snorted. Kiske. That idiot had no idea what was going on behind the scenes, as much as he might say to the contrary. What exactly was he trying to prove, anyway? Sure, he could fight, that much was certain, and the Order had to have given him the title of “commander” for more reason than that he looked good in the uniform. But he was too damn close-minded about everything. He thought that everything was in black and white. He had no idea of the grey areas. A small sigh escaped Sol’s lips as he opened his eyes, giving the fire another jab with Fuuenken. Only thing to do now was to try and find any more leads and avoid any run-ins at this point.

“Easier said than done.”

Okay.

Right after Crossover AU is done (or I might pull Sol out early, because this next part is crucial as anything, considering it explains what the fuck is actually going on in Overture and what Valentine's after), post the next cutscene mission - 12 - because it explains what the hell is going on better than I can write it right now. Skip the Sin-centric mission for obvious reasons - he's run out by then.

Same with Mission 14 - it's from Izuna's perspective.

After a few days from 12's posting, cut to Mission 15 - Sol beating up brainwashed!Sin.

Mission16 is skipped, mostly because it's Sin-centric and otherwise pointless for Sol. :|

MISSION 17. THE BIG 'UN. SOL VS. THAT MAN. WITH SOL IN GEAR FORM. FUCK YEAH. Definitely writing this one out.

Mission 18 - skip. Sin's perspective. Sol's too busy trying to reconfigure the Cube to be answering anyway.

Mission 19 - Show the beginning - where Valentine shifts from her first form to the other one, cut out as Sol goes in to fight it alone. Most of this will be off-camera because of the sheer annoyance it would be to write out fully, plus Sol's had enough trauma from being consistently reminded of Aria thanks to Valentine. Probably for the best to cut him a break right now. D:

That should take care of most of the actual game - Mission 20 is another "cutscene mission" and the conclusion of the game, and it's all over the place. Watch the cutscene to try and make sense of it - Sol goes with Izuna to try and make more sense of what happened, then he'll probably head back to Illyria to pick up Sin - eventually. :|

When it fades back in, Sin is clinging to his flag, only to be kicked by Sol- repeatedly.]

[Shortly after talking with Darc and the others on the site, Sol shut the laptop off. He would save his further religious arguments for later anyway. He was still slightly skeptical about the whole worldhopping thing, but if there was a multiverse, there obviously had to be some way for people to travel between worlds.

He stood, cracking his neck before doing the same to his hands, picking up Fuuenken with one arm and slinging it over his shoulder. Whatever the challenge was going to be, he was sure that it woudl at least relieve some of his boredom, anyway.]
