If I could cover baseball games right now, I swear I would not complain about sitting under two blankets, wearing winter boots, gloves, two shirts and two layers of coats. I always whined and moaned about that before. I would not do it now.
Not something you see every day. Cary-Groveโs @QuinnPriester Priester signed baseballs for several minutes after the Trojans lost to Hampshire, 5-4, for the 4A McHenry Sectional championship. The boys know Priester likely will be drafted in the first round on Monday.
Class 6A state championship: Cary-Grove 37, East St. Louis 36, final. This was one of the greatest games youโll ever see at any level of any sport. Just magnificent on both sides.
Class 6A state championship: Cary-Grove 37, East St. Louis 36, final. C-G's third state title in school history, definitely its toughest. An incredible game, it definitely lived up to the hype.
So sad to hear of the passing of Ron Traven, former Marengo teacher and coach. The guy knew and was loved by everybody. Your day was brightened every time you saw him. I will keep this on my desk always, and it always make me smile. My favorite Cub.
I'd like to thank Cary-Grove (2004, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2018), Prairie Ridge (2011, 2016, 2017), Richmond-Burton (2011) and Johnsburg (2016) for all these trips to the state football championships in the last 15 years. It never gets old. That's nine in the last 10 years.
Thanks, Jacobs High School for the recognition, the plaque and the kind words. I look forward to the next six months and a terrific ride through the rest of the 2023-24 high school year.
Thank you Joe Stevenson @nwh_JoePrepZone for your coverage and support of The Hinkle Holiday Classic for all 24 years of the tournament. We wish you well in retirement! @NWHPreps
It is truly an honor to a small part of โTaps Across Americaโ again this year. At 3 p.m. on Memorial Day, trumpeters and buglers (other instruments as well) are invited to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
