Book Workers for a Free Palestine is a coalition of book workers – publishing workers, agents, booksellers, librarians, writers, translators, visual creatives – who have come together out of horror at the genocide taking place today in Gaza to call for an immediate ceasefire.
In Gaza, to date, more than 30,000 people have been killed and more than 72,000 injured by Israeli forces, with many more missing or being killed as you read this. Each and every one of the dead carried stories within them: stories of a people, a culture and a land.
If you're at London Book Fair today or tomorrow, get a copy of our 'This Publisher is Against Genocide' poster for your stand. DM us for details.

This thread features more information on what we stand for 👇
As well as breaking the literary industry’s silence around the ongoing genocide, we are inviting other book workers to join us to express solidarity with Palestinians...
to organise for the academic and cultural boycott within the book industry of companies complicit in Israeli apartheid and to stand in solidarity with individuals targeted within our industry.
❤️ This vote on two historic motions at The Society of Authors is a huge opportunity to show solidarity for Palestine and support for fossil fuels divestment within the books industry. Please share as widely as you can - all support is appreciated! ❤️
🚨Calling UK writers, illustrators, and translators! Join the May 2 EGM vote we’re bringing to @thesocietyofauthors, on fossil fuels divestment and the genocide in Gaza! More in comments ⬇️ and in our bio - it’s time to act collectively to make our industry take a stance 🌏🍉
Among the dead are at least 178 writers, journalists, scholars, thinkers and poets. What they would have written can never be recovered, though their names can be remembered and their work celebrated.
We have taken down a tweet that was badly worded and caused confusion, for which we apologise. Let us be clear: we wholeheartedly support Palestinian liberation and self-determination. The future of historic Palestine will be for Palestinians to decide.
This London Book Fair we seek to honour those lost in the genocide and, in their memory, call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.

We support the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (@PACBI) and we call for a boycott of Israeli academic and cultural institutions for their complicity in Israel’s denial of Palestinian rights.
