- Last night four sumo wrestlers came in to Hawksmoor Seven Dials!
- Hmm. Do you think offering people cash incentives to pile en masse into places proven to carry a high risk of infection, against a backdrop of confused & confusing ‘guidance’, might have contributed to a surge in infections? Bit pishy, Rishi.
- Any one of those players is welcome to the meal of their lives on the house in Hawksmoor. Especially the brave young lads who took the last three pens. 🏴
- Tonight we had a regular insist on paying £260 for a £60 bill and someone who had cancelled call up and pay £50 service charge anyway. The worst situations bring out the most amazing responses in some people. Thank you if you are one of them. 💛
- Update: the wonderful human who made this mistake has just been promoted to General Manager. ✊🏻To the customer who accidentally got given a bottle of Chateau le Pin Pomerol 2001, which is £4500 on our menu, last night - hope you enjoyed your evening! To the member of staff who accidentally gave it away, chin up! One-off mistakes happen and we love you anyway 😉
- In advance of this weekend (and our subsequent reopening on 9th at Borough) I thought it might be worth reintroducing you to the concept of a restaurant. So. Restaurants. A thread.
- If you want to feel outraged then check out @BootstrapCook or @MarcusRashford’s timelines and see what has replaced the £30 food vouchers ... #EndChildFoodPoverty
- Replying to @HawksmoorTweetsOK, so my timeline is insane now. Lots of people agreeing (many who would be disappointed to know what a bleeding heart London liberal I am 😉). I just got frustrated at #BlameHospitality. Thanks to @mrjamesob for acknowledging and replying. Support your local pub/restaurant 💚
GIF - Replying to @HawksmoorTweetsFirstly there was no incentive to ‘pile en masse’ into venues. There was an incentive to help the socially-distanced hospitality industry and its 3m employees from going under. I don’t remember the bit in your book about sweeping over-exaggerations or misstatements of fact.
