Today I was watched while a solo older woman terf put herself right in the middle of a crowd of hundreds of people there to share love & support for trans people, & stood there staring with a look of total contempt. She was able to safely stand there sneering away for ages.1/2

- Replying to @DrLynziA2/2 Of course there were more than a few calls for her to jog on, & she had marshals near her, but the fact she felt able to stand right in the middle of a crowd of people who she opposes the existence of really illuminates how fictional the whole fear & danger narrative is.
- 1. There is overwhelming evidence that client criminalisation harms sex workers. 2. There’s so much misinformation and offensive content in this article it’s hard to know where to start. 3. People who know nothing about sex work need to stop writing about it.Punish the men who pay for sex, rather than the women lured into that life | Sonia Sodha theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
- 1. Journalist writes article about sex work. 2. Sex workers are upset by article & respond to share their concerns about issues that impact their actual life. 3. Journalist blocks sex workers & then mocks them for being upset. *Does this sound like feminism to you?* 🤔
- Instead of being cliche and tweeting #coolmendontbuysex why not spend some time actually learning about sex work from sex workers and make a commitment to LISTENING and supporting their rights, rather than trying to ruin their incomes?Just a thought.
- I, along with countless women in Aotearoa spoke loudly & clearly last week when we said exclusion of trans people has no place here, trans women are women, & trans rights are human rights. These protesters will never speak for me & they need to do more listening & less speaking.Protest outside the New Zealand High Commission in London this afternoon. Women’s Rights are human rights #LetWomenSpeakNewZealand #LetWomenSpeak
00:00 - I think it’s incredible that Bindel can refer to women who do sex work as “the meat in the burger” and in the next breath refer to violence against sex workers and not see that her words are complicit. If anyone objectifies and dehumanises sex workers, it is her.
- I know it’s not cool to humblebrag but since I spent 3 years on the job market post PhD weathering rejections & battling imposter syndrome, I was pretty darn chuffed to be awarded one of five @VicUniWgtn early career research excellence awards today. Was unimaginable 5 years ago!
- I have just learned that the absolute incredible pioneer of sex worker’s rights Carol Leigh (aka the Scarlot Harlot has died 😢She is the reason we use the language of sex work. Every year I show students her 1991 doc to teach about the history. RIP ☂️💔
- "Too feminist" in your teaching evaluations counts as positive feedback, right?
- Can finally share amazing news I got yesterday that my international comparative project on stigma, discrimination & sex work laws has been awarded a 3 year Marsden Fast Start grant!I will be putting my heart & soul into this research.Absolutely elated-dream come true for me!❤️☂️
- If the Nordic model improved the situation of sex workers, then sex workers would support it. If the evidence pointed to the Nordic model benefiting sex workers, then researchers who genuinely care about their situation would support it. It doesn’t, so we/they don’t support it 🤷🏼♀️
- I’m now on the list of people who’ve been blocked for offering to share evidence, and raising concerns about unethical journalism.
- Replying to @SpeakUp4WomenNZ and @rnz_newsI'm a feminist and I definitely do not find the use of 'cis' offensive in any way.
