Before Edward VI, the death of a monarch meant that all litigation ceased and had to be started again. (The courts, after all, were considered delegates of the Crown.) This has been your legal history factoid of the day. You're welcome.

Apologies to all for being unresponsive. Just over 3 weeks ago, my brother John went into hospital. It was completely unexpected. He passed last night at 6:06pm. He was a musician, a teacher, a priest, and a beam of positivity everywhere he went. Still can't believe this is real!
