TweetMyPC is a great remote control utility for Windows. It uses the Twitter social network as an interface. The application sits on the tray and monitors a Twitter account waiting for commands. When you send a command, TweetMyPc detects it and carries out a predetermined action.

TweetMyPC comes with several built-in commands which allow you to lock or shut down your computer, put it in stand by, or even kill a process. You need to know the process ID to kill a process, tough. Besides that, there are many commands that are way more helpful than those. I absolutely love the "screenshot" and "getfile" commands. The former command will trigger TweetMyPC to capture a screenshot of your computer screen and upload it to Twitter, while the latter will grab a file from your computer and e-mail it to you.

Also, you can add custom commands. Those commands can either perform a system operation or simply execute a file, so many different types of commands can be created. All it takes is a little imagination.

When you configure this utility for the first time, it will ask you your Twitter account and your Gmail details. TweetMyPC detects your tweets every 1 minute, so it is not real-time, but I am sure you can live with the latency. There is no way to change that, though. A new version for Mac now makes this a cross-platform app.

Also, you can tweet the same command again by just adding "## and some random text" behind the command. So, tweet for example "screenshot ## bing".
This works already for more than a year.

Thank you for this great review of TweetMyPC!
I just released the new version 4.0.4 of TweetMyPC for Windows and it fixed the screenshot and the ip command. Also it is now compatible with the new Twitter Api 1.1 and a couple of bugs are fixed now. I also changed the garbage collection so TweetMyPC now consumes less RAM; but also remember that for .Net Applications running in Windows, you can't measure the RAM usage with the task manager because that would also show all the cached .Net libraries. Also compare that to "www.google.com" opened in a google chrome or firefox browser tab, it will show up with a higher ram usage because of the caching.

Best regards,
Stefan
