VITSCHE Berlin and Platform TU! are excited to announce their new collaborative project, Checkpoint Peace, which is in response to the full-scale r*ssian invasion of Ukraine that has been ongoing for a year.
👉 This campaign is multidisciplinary and aims to challenge dangerous myths surrounding Germany’s and Ukraine’s past and present.
Together, we will explore and address controversial blind spots in European memory and #history related to the r*ssian full scale war against #Ukraine and its perception within different social groups. Our goal is to bring attention to these issues with the help of invited artists, activists, researchers, intellectuals, and creatives from both Ukraine and Germany. We aim to redefine the concept of “peace” by deconstructing its abstract meaning and reinventing a modern sense of it that reflects the European struggle for security and #freedom.
🤝 Checkpoint Peace is the result of the partnership between Vitsche and Platform Tu in 2022. Together, we have organized rallies, actions, and the Ukrainian column at #Berlin Pride. Vitsche has been at the forefront of Ukrainian #activism in Berlin since the beginning of the russian invasion. Platform Tu has been driving activism since 2016 in Mariupol, the easternmost Ukrainian city that was destroyed and turned into a mass grave last year.
Both partners use street performances, human rights activism, arts and culture, and media to fight for a free and independent Ukraine. Checkpoint Peace will unite us for more innovative activities for a European audience, so stay tuned!
