Clearing the Cache in Kodi is one of the best ways to ‘clean’ your system and help reduce any buffering you may be experiencing.
We often receive questions on buffering, and clearing cache is an efficient tactic to improve device performance.
There are a few ways to clear cache in Kodi, and we provide a few different methods below.
The first method involves clearing cache from the device settings on both a Firestick or Android device. The other method shows how to clear cache in Kodi inside an add-on that’s already installed on your device.

The first and easiest way to clear cache is inside your device settings. We are using an Amazon Firestick in this example.
1. Hover over the Settings icon and select Applications.

Hide Your Digital Fingerprint
2. Select Manage Installed Applications.

3. Locate and click Kodi.

4. Select Clear cache.

5. You have cleared the cache on Kodi. If you want to Reset Kodi you can also select the Clear data option.

Method Two – Clearing Cache Within Kodi App
Another way to clear cache in Kodi is done within the app itself. Whether it’s an add-on or build, these steps will work for any installed repository.
1. From the Kodi Home Screen scroll down and click Add-ons.

Now that your cache is cleared in Kodi this should help reduce buffering and improve overall playback.
Final Thoughts from Troy
Clearing the cache in Kodi is a quick and simple way to fix common streaming issues. If you’re dealing with buffering, slow menu navigation, or freezing, this is one of the first things to try.
Keep in mind that clearing cache will not remove your add-ons or saved content. It’s a safe maintenance step that can be done regularly to help your Kodi setup run smoother.

Hi, Troy:
I use firestick for Kodi, and have watched your video on external storage. I have set everything up, and moved Kodi to external storage. Even though I have done that, and even though it shows as external storage, it always shows 0 in the cache. It looks, and the amount of available internal storage used still increases.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks very much for any help you can give me.
Hello Sir, thank you so much for you postings, it’s become my go to for Kodi.
Are you able to tell me how to install an addon, where I can clear all cache on Kodi using Apple TV Box?. Please note, I am not using a build, just straight Kodi.
Best regards
